As mentioned yesterday: the drawing of Odysseus, Ctimene and Eumaeus as kids, with Hermes disguised as a tortoise, introducing himself as their great-grandfather and you know Eumaeus is also there.

When I was drawing Diomedes as a kid, this image suddenly popped up in my head. I didn't finish or render any of the background, because when I was starting I thought the drawing looked worse. I actually think the white makes it look more dramatic.

One of my friends really likes this drawing. He joked that maybe Hermes himself gave me some divine inspiration for this, which I personally think would be one of the funniest things ever. Other gods: "Draw me as the godly god I am" and Hermes would just be like "Draw me as a tortoise".

Litle Diomedes. I based his appearance on my designs for his older self. I added some beads in his hair at the top, because I thought it would be fitting for Diomedes to have some sort of oath. Like the beads would cover a little braid in which he has braided part of his father's hair, which he will cut off and sacrifice to the gods once he has avenged his father. I thought it would be a nice little detail.

I have another drawing I made of Odysseus as a boy (together with Ctimene and Eumaeus), but I'll post that one tomorrow.

Drawing I made of Menelaos, Helena and Paris. These are also the designs I'm going to use in my future webcomic Athena's Champions. In my original designs I used a darker shade for Menelaos' hair and now that I'm comparing both of the haircolors, I think the darker shade compliments him better. The kilt is also a bit different, apparently I remembered it differently. I started experimenting with adding more blush recently, don't know yet, if I'm going to keep it or not.

These are the designs I made for Hermes and Dionysus for my future webcomic Athena's Champions. They're actually taken from the chapter about Skyros that I was working on, so they're not completely finished.

I'm actually not sure if I'm even going to use this version of the chapter or not. My first idea was to just show how Odysseus and co revealed Achilles hiding there, but the way it was built up seemed a bit boring. So I decided to take another approach where Odysseus tries to unmask Achilles but gets into trouble and talks his way out of it by promising the king of Skyros a grand feast. To achieve that he would need the help of Dionysus through Hermes and I thought it would be fun to show all of them working together, but when I got to that point I realized that this actually has nothing to do with the story and I'm just wasting time. It's already long and it doesn't feel like it's getting to the point, so I have decided to go back to the first idea, although I have adjusted that as well. I'll see if I can use some of the scenes from this chapter in other chapters.

If there were to be any interest in this deleted chapter I will post it here online after I have finished the lineart.

Some cover art I've made for my upcoming webcomic (Athena's Champions).

I visited a church some time ago and I saw this altar sculpture with angels on each side, I thought they would be nice poses to give to Odysseus and Diomedes. Odysseus' face ended up looking a bit weird, it's one of the first times I've drawn a face in this angle and whatever adjustment I made just made it worse, so I put it back to the original (the nose bothers me, immensely).

Odysseus and Athena

I'm not sure if I'm going to use this in my webcomic or not, I felt like drawing this, but I'm actually not sure in which context I would use it. I'm working on inking and coloring the first chapters, so I'll see along the way if I can fit it in somewhere or not.

These are my designs for Diomedes for my future webcomic Athena's Champions. I made several outfits for each of the characters since they spend so long fighting, so I figured they're going to need some different clothes. Ofcourse the main characters Odysseus and Diomedes are going to get more outfits.

Even though it takes place in Myceneaan Greece, the descriptions of Homer are of a later period, like the shield of Diomedes. Homer says it's round, while most Mycenaean shields were in the form of an 8 or crescent moon shaped. I didn't really know what to do, but eventually I decided to stay true to the description of Homer.

These are the designs I made for Odysseus for my future webcomic Athena's Champions. As is the case with the desings for Diomedes, not everything is colored. The reason for this is actually because I just need them as a guide when drawing.

The last image is his brooch, I tried to keep it within the Mycenaean way of depiction. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it or not.

I made the armour of Odysseus not so impressive, because Homer doesn't give a lot of descriptions around it, so I figured it was probably a bit basic. I forgot the boar teeth helmet though, I'll add that later.

I also made "royal garb" outfits for the kings in the story, here that is the 3rd last picture. For Diomedes I didn't make one, because somehow it just doesn't fit in my head that he would wear that, but at one point I'm going to have to add it.

These are my designs for Athena in my future webcomic Athena's Champions. It's a bit messy and not completely finished, but it would be ok to post it.

The first image is my original design, I made it a few months ago. I wanted the gods to have something different so I based their facial characteristics on Mycenaean and Minoan goddess figurines, they often have facial decoration. Some just have a brow that is connected, others have suns painted on their cheeks, and one had the entire nose and part of the forehead painted, I thought it would fit nicely for my desing of Athena.

The last image was an attempt at making a more updated version of the design, but it ended up being a bit messy. It also got to a point where I have so many layers open, that I have no clue where what part of the drawing is. I actually wanted to make a first cover art for my webcomic, with Athena in the back, Odysseus and Diomedes in the front. I might finish it in the future, but at the moment I'm too frustrated with it, so I'm just going to let it go for a while.

I'll share my other designs maybe tomorrow. I've been working on this webcomic for about 3 years now and everytime I get stuck, so the final designs are only now being put together. But at the very least I now have a sort of outline for the chapters and a few of them have been written already, so it has some evolution.
