I WANT THE STARS IN YOUR EYES
...AND TO OPEN UP REQUESTS AGAIN SOON. There were too many on my to-do list for movies I've yet to watch. So those are going on the back-burner for now. There’s a few shows I want to catch up on, too. Busy, busy, busy with offline stuff, as well. As usual. Also, my nausea medication is unfortunately on backorder.
Part of me wants to start posting more reviews. Like for Wednesday. Or horror anthologies. The last ones I read were His Hideous Heart and The Gathering Dark. The problem is, my opinions feel super subjective and I don’t want to deter people from something they might really love just because I’m picky. :P I know my taste in movies is iffy lol.
I don’t talk as much about books as much as movies, but I’m an avid reader. Though I’ve definitely watched more horror than read it. Fantasy and murder mysteries are my go-to fiction. Despite how much I love writing romance (or smut, more like), I don’t really like reading the professionally published stuff unless it’s another genre. Even then, I might vastly prefer the world building and not give a hoot about ships. (See Wintersong.)
Recently finished buddy reading The Cruel Prince. Read it if you liked Wicked Lovely or... the Spiderwick Chronicles. XD Lots of Fair Folk. Like, different kinds. Redcaps, nixies, goblins, ogres, etc. It's great.
The same buddy introduced me to Night World, WL, and Sarah J. Maas. Right now I’m planning on convincing her to check out the Shadow and Bone Trilogy afterwards. (It’s nice to know Holly Black and Leigh Bardugo are friends.) I reread Shadow and Bone while waiting for a copy of The Cruel Prince.
The Folk of the Air so far is amazing, but it annoyed me when Madoc said “autumn solstice.” Fall has an equinox. You’re a faerie. You should know this! It’s cool that’s he’s a redcap. Those things scared tiny Tawney so bad. They’re underutilized.
Since I started using Spotify last month, I think Under Your Spell has supplanted Walking with Strangers as my fave Birthday Massacre album. And it’s easier to find new artists, too. Really been getting into phonk and dark trap.
Song of the day: “Games” by TBM. Where I got the title from and also because I’m also rereading The Sandman.
