A little late message for Yom Hashoah, Israeli Holocaust Remembrance day:
This year I participated in "lighting" a virtual ner neshama, (lit. Soul candle) in memory of one person who died in the holocaust. Tibor Aker, born in Hungaria, killed at age 10 in Auschwitz.
Because of technical difficulties I saw some other names. Yosef Manleh, killed at age 4. Shmuel Bas, 16. Judith Levi, 10.
With every name, I thought of this line. Lives are measured in infinities. Every life taken was a world unto itself of infinite potential. And there were six million of them, an unfathomable number; and so many children.
