It has been stuck in my mind these last few days that Jamie wasn’t simply referring to Claire’s skill with medicines. 

  • She was there to help him in dealing with Dougal’s exploitation of his scars for the cause. 
  • She was able to be there to smooth the healing with Jenny, after Jamie flew off the handle with his wild, unfair assumptions. 
  • She helped him to heal emotionally, just after Wentworth, when he would have let himself waste away. 
  • She stood by him through those long months of slow, emotional healing in the subsequent months in Paris. 
  • They healed together (though mostly off-screen) after Faith, and after Louis. 
  • He would have later learned how instrumental she was in comforting Fergus, after the encounter with Black Jack. 

Some big, some small, but all of these events would have left Jamie remembering how his White Lady was a healer of the spirit, just as much as bodies.
