Outlander Episode 3x13 Script

There’s a long deleted scene between Geillis and Claire at the beginning, but honestly I only care about Jamie and Claire so I haven’t posted it here lol.

Deleted Scene of Jamie Telling the Slaves about Young Ian:

Deleted Scene of Claire and Jamie about Bree. Jamie says “I ken the photos as well as I ken yer face.” Claire says “She wants our daughter” I love this scene. 😔

DELETED SCENE OF JAMIE SAYING TO CLAIRE: “You are more to me than life, and I have no regret.” 😠😠😠😠😠

Deleted Dialogue between Jamie and Claire, after getting out of the cave:

In the “beard” scene, Jamie was supposed to wear only a long shirt. I’m glad they changed it. I like him shirtless and only wearing his pants 😜:

DELETED MOVEMENTS IN THE BEARDS SCENE! Jamie was supposed to kiss the tops of her breasts:

MORE DELETED DIALOGUE IN THE BEARD SCENE!!!!! More dialogue of Jamie deleted…. (I’m not surprised):

Jamie was supposed to bite her ear lobe 😍:

JAMIE WAS SUPPOSED TO KISS HER THIGHS!!!!!!!!!:

MORE JAMIE AND CLAIRE QUOTES DELETED IN THE STORM SCENE:

This is not thaaat important, but in the beach scene, Claire was supposed to stand up. I like that they kept them on the sand toguether ☺️. ALSO, They change what Jamie answers the man when he asks him “are you all right?”…. In the episode Jamie says “WE are….” and in the script he was supposed to say “We have all our limbs”. I like this change too ^^:

Turtle Soup in all its Scripted (and Unscripted!) Goodness

Annotation from writer Karen Campbell:

Turtle soup! This is such a great scene —in the book and in our adaptation (if I do say so myself). While we deliver a fair share of intimate scenes between Jamie and Claire, this one is a favorite. It’s playful and fun. And no surprise that Claire is randy after imbibing so much sherry-spiked soup. But it’s more than her drunkenness; Claire nearly lost Jamie again, so making the most of their first time alone in a long time makes sense as well. It’s a well-earned exhale after all of the tough times our characters have faced in the previous episodes. Caitriona and Sam really committed to the scene and did a tremendous job. Gary is wonderful as well

And I feel like this last scene might be the beginning of 3x12, The Bakra, with this added at the beginning…

white dove

In 03x09, after their frantic (adorable, desperate, melting) encounter during the rainstorm, Jamie strokes Claire’s hair, and once again calls her “white dove” - caiman geal - for the silver in her hair.

A beautiful callback to not only the scene in 01x07 “The Wedding” where he explains why he calls her mo nighean donn - but also, of course, the gorgeous “white dove” prayer in 02x11 “Vengeance Is Mine.”

So - looking through the script for 03x09, I smiled to see that the original script did not call for Jamie to use this gorgeous name for Claire:

Whoever made the decision to add it in - thank you!!

My favorite annotation in 3x08.

Toni Graphia & Matt Roberts Annotation

Jamie’s speech about the greylag goose is one of our favorites from the book, so we used that here. It’s a perfect metaphor for their relationship. And of course, we see Jamie trying to ‘fess up to the big secret. He’s been looking for the right time to do this ever since Claire came back in 306. There were those in our writers’ room who felt he should have come clean earlier. After all, Jamie is a very honorable and principled guy and it’s hard to imagine him lying—even a lie of omission. But ultimately, we agreed that he wouldn’t risk losing the love of his life after 20 years apart. That is not dishonorable, just human. In the books, we are in Claire’s inner monologue, but here we see Jamie’s face on the screen. So, we had to play that something is weighing on his mind. We planted little breadcrumbs in the scripts for the audience. The mention of Ned Gowan in 306 was one of those breadcrumbs. Jamie wanted a read on the legal situation—is his other marriage even valid now that Claire is back? Of course, Jamie would have told Claire in time, but unfortunately his time runs out when Laoghaire bursts into their bedroom—one of the most shocking moments in the book AND on screen. Claire is shocked beyond belief and also meeting his “daughters” for the first time.

Because of a scheduling issue, this episode was shot out of order and filmed in Block 2 along with Episode 302 near the beginning of the season—even before 306 filmed! It messed a bit with the actors’ heads to have to play these scenes when they hadn’t even reunited yet. So the actors deserve a giant round of applause for pulling this off. It takes a great deal of concentration to perform these scenes out of context.

I really enjoy reading the scripts and writers’ annotations. Sometimes I disappoint when some of the scenes don’t show them on screen, like “Faith”. But overall I appreciate that the writers generously show their works with annotations. It’s very interesting for me to peek the creative process including the editing decision. I am always fascinated by these behind the scene processes, maybe because I used to work in a film industry.

This is my favorite annotation from last week’s ‘Outlander’ episode 3x08 ‘Fist Wife’. The interesting fact was that they shot this scene near the beginning of the season. I remembered that Laura Donnlley said they had to shoot all Jenny’s scenes at once due to her theatre work schedule. So it supposed that was the beginning of the season. As the writers mentioned it above, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe did a remarkable job and it gave me an another layer of enjoyment when I watched it again.

From Maril on Twitter. I can’t believe they must have cut a chunk of that falling apart into Claire’s arms!!! I’m livid!

Errr this part in the script is beautifully written. I wonder who decided to cut if off later? Did they film it and edit it out later or just didn’t shoot it on set? This is rediculous.

Another beautiful scene between Jamie and Claire that was written in the script and then cut.

I’m sure we’ll be told that the decision to not include this was due to “ time constraints “.  That’s Ron’s default excuse.

In case anyone was wondering if Corporal McBastard paid for his crime...

He did.

I’m perfectly fine with the scene not making into the show, I actually get it why it didn’t. I do hope they filmed it and we’ll get it as a deleted scene but if not I’m happy with just knowing what faith was meant for that bastard.
