when you’re watching a movie and suddenly there’s a forced hetero romance
the review has spoken
When u mention gayness to a straight and they go through a “okay Susan now be cool” face journey right in front of your gay little eyes.
being around straight people is so wild because they don’t take “because i’m gay” as a valid, sensible answer to a question

oh no, we talk about straight people all the time, and “because they’re straight” is used very frequently to explain their many flaws
*squints at my oc’s*
Where did that one heterosexual go
*claps hand to forehead, laughs heartily*
Oh right he’s bisexual now
you come into my house, tell me my favorite character is heterosexual,
It endlessly pisses me off how many amazing, clearly butch-coded characters get written straight bc the creators want to “subvert stereotypes”.
They aren’t helping anybody by pulling that shit, and actively HURT butch lesbians. They aren’t “subverting” anything bc here’s the thing…butch lesbians are actual, real women with actual, real lives and feelings. They aren’t stereotypes, they’re PEOPLE. The way that they are and present themselves isn’t something that needs to be subverted. It’s something that needs to celebrated.
Butch lesbians are amazing, beautiful, and perfect exactly as they are.
when you’re watching a movie and they introduce some unnecessary hetero romance plot:
@roundtop, noted femme ally and beloved broommate, speaks the truth of my hard femme heart (via femmempathy)
tonks and lupin are two of the gayest characters ive ever seen and somehow jkr thought it was a good idea to put them in a terrible straight relationship
#FOR REAL THOUGH #like yeah i shipped wolfstar and still do but what bothers me the most about it is the unfair and devaluing treatment of tonks #i wrote a whole screed about it in the days of this blog’s infancy i might go dig it out #but basically you can pry lesbian punk tonks from my cold dead hands #(lupin i can accept as bi and falling in love with tonks although i will never accept how book 6 forced them together) #(i love mcg with all my heart but i’m still pissed off about the hospital wing scene) #(in other news lesbian!mcgonagall and her sporty schoolgirl romance with madam hooch is another firmly-held hp belief that you’ll have to #pry from my cold dead hands) (what is a pottermore i certainly don’t know or care) #the boy who lived #….. #thinky thoughts #because them tags is fightin’ words
also apparently jk rowling killed off lupin and tonks because she wanted to show that an orphaned child could still grow up happy and whole to parallel harry’s development and story line aaaaaaaaaaaaaand idek???
idek. the more i think about the way that this whole relationship was handled makes me want to scream forever into the void
i liked what little we saw of teddy lupin in the epilogue-that-shall-not-be-named but yeah, it’s super sketchy that tonks and lupin died just so teddy would mirror harry, and they didn’t even get the dignity of on-page deaths, ugh
(so many problems with the tonks/lupin relationship and how it systematically stripped her of her agency and independence as a character)
[shot of straight cis white couple] narrator voice: a romance like you’ve never seen me: did i hallucinate the other billion times
look I may have many flaws but at least heterosexuality isn’t one of them
every time i talk to a straight boy i become more gay
