ok, but consider this radical concept: both bi and gay people face oppression for being bi/gay. their experiences sometimes overlap, sometimes they don’t. gay people can be biphobic & bi people can be homophobic. that does not mean either of said group oppresses/has privilege over the other. shocking, I know.
things i was not expecting: people wishing me serious bodily injury/death because i didn't specify that it's only most adults that aren't fluent in tumblrspeak
kinda tempted to screenshot some of the recent reblogs of that teens texting post as evidence that Young People On Tumblr aren’t the only demographic who can take an ambiguously worded post, read it uncharitably in the extreme, and reply with disproportionate and non-explicatory vitriol
#*sips tea*#in their defense#i was speaking in generalities#and did not qualify all of them with 'most'/'many'/etc#so like yes#there are adults that are totes fluent in tumblrspeak#whether b/c long exposure or b/c early experience with punch card computing or w/e#but also like#teens in the us and adults in the us have different texting patterns#and there are reasons behind that#also nothing in that post said that previous generations didn't also have slang#that was v different from their parents' slang#like language change is a thing that happens#chill
