40: Have you ever written a song or poem for someone?yes. several someones, actually. i did one as a joking birthday present to a friend — earlier she had given me a notebook with a cover she had decorated; part of the decorations were random snippets of made-up sheet music, with the explicit footnote “THESE ARE FOR SYMBOLIC PURPOSES ONLY AND SHOLUD NOT ACTUALLY BE USED TO MAKE MUSIC”. well … 

the other thing was a bassoon piece that i wrote for/about my then-boyfrend. (it was also a model composition for theory class in the style of debussy, which was pertinent for reasons that aren’t worth getting into.) i don’t think i ever played it for him or even told him about it.

50: If your first true love knocked on your door with apology [sic] and presents, would you accept?this is a complicated question. not so much b/c of the forgiveness aspect, but b/c i’m not sure i’ve had anyone who qualifies as a true love? like i’ve been hurt by my feelings for someone, but that was b/c he was straight, not b/c he was a dick. GOB and i were a pretty meh couple (i was kind of in it for the snogging, and i think i was his rebound, but lbr, we were basically long-distance fwb, which is exactly an ideal setup). i would almost certainly make out with him if he came asking, but i wouldn’t want to date him again — i just really like snogging. so … yeah.

51: Is there a boy/girl[/enby] you would do absolutely anything for?no. there is no one i would murder for. there is no one i would deliberately shore up the kyriarchy for. etc. but for a somewhat less strict definition of “anything” … yeah, quite a few people, actually.

to be clear, by and large this isn’t a romantic thing. for all that i am sometimes kind of distant, i get very heavily invested in friendships, and once i get close enough to someone, there’s pretty much nothing not-evil that i wouldn’t do for them. it’s about recognizing that life is hard, and the least we can do is help those around us; it’s about the knowledge that if we don’t reach out and help one another, no one will. i would be such a hufflepuff.

58: What are five ways to win your heart?1) shine. have a passion, an obsessive locus of geekery, something you can talk excitedly about for hours without interruption. (or, at the very least, be bowled over by the sheer wonder of the universe — marvel at the stars, at the intricate dance of growing, eating, and being eaten in the miraculous web of life, at the sheer giddy impossibility of existing.)2) help smash the kyriarchy.3) write me letters. i promise i write back!4) turn me on to a musician/composer/group/genre of music/etc that i didn’t know about before and that hits my buttons. obviously, this runs the danger of having my heart go more to the music than to you, but this is one of the risks you run when courting me.5) amazon gift certificates. lots and lots of amazon gift certificates.

75: What’s the sweetest thing anyone’s ever done for you?hm. the superlative here is defs giving me pause. there are a lot of little gestures that spring to mind — the time storm baked me surprised birthday cookies, the time WYS gave me a new nib for my pen, patrick’s support re nails/makeup/everything — but i think a lot of these things meant a lot more to me than the person doing them necessarily intended them to mean? my life is kind of lacking in Grand Gestures of Unbearable Sweetness, IDK.
