there is such a toxic obsession with masculinity in the gay community especially in the bear community to the point where it gets downright homophobic with a dollop of internalized bullshit and it’s really gross that so many people are willing to put down others for not being “man enough” or being “too like a girl” or “not being straight-acting enough” or “too gay” like listen you common grass stain regardless of what you do or how you act you’re just as gay as the other guy
. . . i think this article is arguing that closeted gay men don’t have male privilege? and that misogyny coming from gay men is only a thing that started happening as there’s been increased social acceptance of gay men? and also that the acronym lgbt . . . doesn’t include all trans people? (while simultaneously being hella cissexist . . . )
like, yes, good, by all means call out the racism and misogyny that run rampant thru gay male spaces, but that’s not “gay privilege”, that’s just male privilege, and it’s been going on for ages among gay men. like, again, the things you are criticizing need to be criticized, but like, maybe do . . . i don’t know, five minutes of research or something first? b/c as it stands this thing is a train wreck.
