Y'all, I ran into Kay at a really cool local event we both just happened to attend on the same night!
It was very cool catching up with them again!
It must be so cool to meet them and get to know them!
Kay and I used to be pretty tight back in the day, but after the show ended, I gave them space for Reasons™ (there was no falling out, but it's not my place to talk about the Reasons™), so this was an especially nice unexpected meet up!

Are you legit about having talked to Kay? It doesn't matter if you don't talk anymore. I just wanna know if you two actually talked
Oh, yeah! Kay and I used to talk on the phone, as a matter of fact! One time, they called me out of the blue to complain about something specific (I don't recall if they've gone public about this specific thing, so I won't mention it), but also the Varian and the Seven Kingdoms project while it was still in the pre-pitch phase! They used to say that when the show was over, they wanted to grab coffee with me so they could spill everything. (That never happened, but that's okay. They went through a lot during the show's production.)
They've also been on my podcast, and that includes not just the recorded interview, but an hour or two of casual conversation before and after the show is recorded.
I've also watched art live streams of theirs and we chatted during those. We've met in person a few times, once at the studio and once at D23 Expo in 2017.
Kay deleted most of their art on tumblr, not just DnD and Vat7k, but also Overlord, Hocus Pocus and Fnaf.
Why did they delete so much of their art?
I honestly can't answer you, since I'm not Kay. I'm not their PR person, and as I explained the other day, I don't even really talk to them anymore to respect the distance they want to put between themselves and Tangled.
if disney ever changed their mind on green lighting VAT7K would you still continue on with the project?
We never pitched VAT7K as a series, only to Publishing. I think pitching as a series would have been a muuuuch steeper mountain to climb. We saw it as more of a spin-off comic, but the feedback was that a Tangled-connected story of any nature would need to center on the more well known character of Rapunzel in order to get studio support. It makes sense, even though there's clearly a very active love and community for Varian. Publishing did express interest in the project if we were to tweak it and make it original by removing Varian and any other Tangled elements, but we passed on doing that because we felt the story was really built for Varian. Re-conceiving it without him, while possible, wasn't as appealing to us- just didn't feel right. That's kind of why I just decided to dump the little, underbaked bit of stuff we had...to let the fandom run with it and have fun! I've seen our early ideas expanded upon, artistically explored, and challenged in some pretty awesome ways. I can't believe I see fanart to this day, haha. But I'm pretty happy myself to just let the fandom take ownership and evolve it to their taste.
This might sound a little rude, but what's the deal with Kay Ritter? I haven't really been active in the fandom since about a year after the show ended, and I came back recently, and I found out Kait went from Kait to Kay, and I just want to know what happened. As in when did Kay come out? What pronouns does Kay use? And what exactly is Kay? From what I know, Kay could be anything from a she/they NB to a trans man. Once again, sorry if this is strange and intrusive, I'm very pro LGBT+(🩷💜💙;) I'm just confused, and a little curious. Please don't get upset
Kay uses they/them pronouns, and they came out as nonbinary in June 2022. And this past summer, they got married and changed their last name to Hayes! So they are now Kay Hayes.
Do you know where I can find all the Vat7k related stuff Kay deleted on their insta account?
This is all the Vat7K stuff that I know Kay posted about, consolidated into one post. I don't know what they've deleted off their Insta, as I haven't been active there in over three years.

Nope, sorry. As I'm not particularly a follower of Vat7K, I don't usually reblog stuff from it (other than the initial information, and art I particularly like for some reason).

Hey everyone. The results from all of Delaney’s testing came back and, after much deliberation and conversation with the vets, the best option seems to be to take her in for a surgery to remove the mass and as much extra tissue surrounding it as possible and perform a biopsy at that time to hopefully determine the type of cancer. This will, at the very least, give us another year or so with Delaney. We have been given an estimated total of $3,000 - $5,000 for the surgery and have spent $1,100 of these funds so far on the tests leading to this diagnosis/ treatment plan…so please continue to share on socials if you can to help us keep saving.
