This one looks like it was based on Zoltan (NOT Zoltar) an older fortunate telling machine!
Also AFAIK a dollar is how much fortune teller machines currently charge for fortunes or presses pennies, etc.
Someone showed up on my Tumblr thinking they can refute my post about "Epstein The Swami" in BioShock 2 from a cursory glance at a line in the BioShock 2 wiki that says it was based on Zoltar.. But here's the thing...
Zoltan was made in 1969... Zoltar Speaks was made in 1988 as a fictional movie prop for the movie Big and didn't exist as a fortune telling machine at the time.
In 2006 Characters Unlimited, that started in 1987 trademarked Zoltar for use on their fortune telling machine. They had found out that Zoltar had not been trademarked at that point so they snapped it up.
I think you may be getting the picture by now..
Besides, Epstein clearly looks more like Zoltan than Zoltar..
Zoltar Machine by Characters Unlimited
It is a tad challenging to gather this information but I've seen a lot of interviews and information past a single line in a wiki.. haha
They started making Zoltar machines in 2006 based on the movie Big from 1988 which had a fictional fortune teller: https://youtu.be/MBYunPQgpZA?si=iDmeBj286TvQDyCy

"Stanton, who started the business in 1987, said he filed for the trademark nearly 20 years after "Big" and consciously builds his Zoltars to be different from the film. He kept sending Playland copies of his brochures until one year county officials reached out to him, he said.
"We co-opted it," Tartaglia said of the decision to embrace Zoltar. "As this became iconic because of the movie, we wanted to do something more permanent."

Oh my, I've really outdone myself tonight. Basically I did Eyedol's infinite combo on my KI Pro cabinet until time ran out.. well over 80-hits (KI stops counting at 80 but still gives you points) and I've moved up to 3rd place on the online leaderboards!
A notable thing is that I used the Suzo Happ Ultimate joysticks that some people say are rubbish and that everyone should just replace with Industrius Lorenzo Eurosticks.. if that was true I wouldn't be able to do this.. especially if it worked as bad as it apparently did for some people where they couldn't even do basic special moves with it!
I love that they added Mona Lisa to Shredder's Revenge..
TBH I think they should also add Irma! 💜🕹️😁

Oh my at Poison from Final Fight here! 💜🕹️
My partner got me this mini Neo Geo candy cab as an early birthday gift! I ordered an adapter so I can hook it up to my CRT TV and connect my 8bitdo Neo Geo joypad to play it!
Yes, it has an HDMI port and USB ports for external displays and controllers
The only downside here is the built-in joystick isn't the clicky type like the Neo Geo joypad I have
Installed new Sanwa buttons with concave plungers today!
The other bottom picture is how the control panel looked before..
This is how I think a WWF WrestleMania by Midway deluxe cabinet should look IMHO.. the buttons and joysticks should match the colors of the original arcade cabinets and so should the cabinet shape and art..
Also the t-molding should be purple!
