John Lennon's watercolour paintings of a 18th century galleon with twelve sails, his school teacher, a landscape in Scotland & a bird | May; June 1952
June 11, 1968, EMI Studios. John, that day working on sound effects for Revolution 9 at Studio 3, comes up to Studio Two′s control room to encourage Paul on one of his numerous attempts at Blackbird. (Note: Francie Schwartz can be heard giggling.)
JOHN: It’s great there, Charles, but if you can just, you know, try once more.
PAUL: Well, sure.
JOHN: I mean, you’re going really great, just, uh—
PAUL: Yeah, I think I’m in the right direction.
JOHN: You’re getting in the right direction, sure.
PAUL: I think so, sure. It feels as though it’s going the right way.
JOHN: Well, [inaudible] we’re getting it up here, boy.
PAUL: Groovy, groovy.
JOHN: Okay, if you’d like to go now, one more time, Charles.
PAUL: That’s where your head’s at, is it?
JOHN: I mean, you should. Bye.
