anyway yeah DELETE YOUR FUCKING ADVERTISING IDS

Android:

Settings ➡️ Google ➡️ all services ➡️ Ads ➡️ Delete advertising ID

(may differ slightly depending on android version and manufacturer firmware. you can't just search settings for "advertising ID" of course 🔪)

iOS:

Settings ➡️ privacy ➡️ tracking ➡️ toggle "allow apps to request to track" to OFF

and ALSO settings ➡️ privacy ➡️ Apple advertising ➡️ toggle "personalized ads" to OFF

more details about the process here via the EFF

saw you mentiuon the megs being a gun thing and wanted to say a fun fact

the reason megatron is no longer allowed to be a gun officially is because of some child toy rules saying that toys can't look like real guns, don't fully remember the details

Avatar

not surprised to hear this g1 megatron was just a straight up pistol

Related fun fact: Megatron isn't just a generic gun, he's specifically the modified Walther P38 used in the show the Man from UNCLE

Oh look, it seems like there's a Republican-led movement to purge voter rolls in the lead-up to the election! It's almost as if your vote matters and they don't want you to vote! Anyway, I whipped up a quick map (based on this) that shows when the voter registration deadline is in each state. There are a few deadlines coming up in the next week or so.

If you live in a state that regularly purges voter rolls for infrequent voters (the orange ones in the first map), or if you moved recently, it's good to check if you're still registered to vote.

Vote.org makes it super easy to check your registration: https://www.vote.org/am-i-registered-to-vote/

Just put in your address and DOB and they'll tell you whether you're registered. (And they give you a quick link to register online if it turns out that you're not! Only the 9 states in white on my map don't have online registration, and for those they provide instructions on how to do it via mail or in person.)

So yeah, give yourself peace of mind -- do a quick check. :)

Quick correction - Minnesota has same day voter registration, so if you aren't registered you can bring proof of residence with you and register when you vote, all the way up to election day, November 5.

IIRC Michigan also has in-person voter registration up to election day -- you have to go to your county clerk to register past Oct. 21st.

My Cousin Vinny is a bop from start to finish. absolutely lives up to the hype. Joe Pesci is lucky he's such a good actor or Marisa Tomei would have stolen the whole movie out from under him, and Fred Gwynne would have taken what was left.

but he is that good an actor! everyone in this movie is, actually, everyone is just doing such a perfect job in their roles, it's a complete delight

also half the jokes are foreshadowing, but you don't notice as it happens bc you're busy laughing at them. everything you need to know to fully appreciate the ending is delivered to you in innocuous little details all throughout the movie, every single thing, and it never once feels contrived or unnecessary. it's such a well-constructed movie

If you live in Ohio, today is a good day to check your voter registration, and to consider booting JD Vance into the sun.

Check and recheck. They'll steal your vote if they can.

Even if you have made the choice for yourself not to vote, ask yourself: are you okay with others having the right to vote stripped from them?

If the answer is 'no,' then you may want to reconsider the first part.

This is current btw, OP is dated June 18 2024

Just mentioning so no one assumes it’s and old post and ignores it

I voted in the last two elections and had no reason to think my registration wouldn't be valid for this one--when I went to check, it said it was "pending" and "needed additional steps" and if I hadn't checked I would have had no reason to think I wasn't good to go until the day of. bogus!!!! Anyway VOTE.GOV, y'all, it didn't take long.

made a beautiful google slides infographic in 60 seconds on why u should Fucking Vote

Voting isn't like dating, where you're looking for the perfect match.

It's like taking the bus: Yeah it may not get you there all the way, but it'll get you in the right direction.

Your homegrown organic third candidate will have the same chances against the two big candidates as a lamb wandering into the tiger exhibit

Go figure, regressives undermining elections again, shocking.

But truly, everyone that sees this, check your registration, especially in conservative states.

Anyone in the US can check their voter registration, or register to vote, at vote.org which is a nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to providing voting guidance.

Voting for Democrats is the "leaving the house, getting some exercise, and drinking more water is good for your mental health" of societal change. Everyone keeps telling you to do it, worst of all your mom keeps telling you to do it, and it's not a magical cure-all, but it actually works and rotting in your room shitposting does not help in either scenario.

Also like mental health, voting doesn't solve the whole problem! But if you aren't doing this bare minimum thing, the other tools you have aren't going to work as well as they should either. If you get medicine and continue rotting in your room shitposting, you will probably still be miserable. If you get a union at work but don't vote for politicians who support unions, the union won't be able to advocate for its members as effectively and work will still be miserable.

Voting is maintenance. It's like doing the dishes or cleaning the leaves out of the gutters. You're never going to get to a point where you are Done and Never Have To Do It Again (alas,) because time will continue to pass and you will continue to eat meals and the trees will continue to drop leaves into your gutters and right wingers will continue to submit bad bills to every session of congress.

You'll never be done with maintenance. But if you don't do that maintenance, your situation can and definitely will get Worse
