This is a some what strange request for you guys, but what are some of your top queer texts that Libby DOESN'T HAVE. I ask largely because I'm looking to maybe expand my personal library and definitely to have different things to suggest my local library purchases (they just agreed to buy Original Plumbing: The Best of Ten Years of Trans Male Culture). I figure that may also other queers who are Feeling the Urge to Spiral and Want Something Productive to Do could use this.

no, no. thanks for asking. I’m going to be so for real with you

we can’t get it. it cannot be purchased as an ebook or audiobook. every time we do a survey or ask for feedback there are at least a few people who say something along the lines of ‘can’t believe you, a queer library, don’t have that book’. which like. fair! it’s great! it’s a cornerstone classic! we would love to! we just simply cannot purchase it

also, Faltas: Letters to Everyone in My Hometown Who Isn’t My Rapist by Cecilia Gentili. sadly cannot get that one. None of Richard Siken’s books are available for us to get in Libby either 😔

(congrats on getting Original Plumbing in your local library, also not available on libby)

Sending my most reliable corporate staffer to Connecticut to shut down a Christmas tree farm. Wish me luck

I keep sending them, but they don't come back. I really just need to shut down this farm. Do you think I should go check it out

Can I go with? My fiancé, one of your reliable corporate staffers, who I was supposed to marry January 1st hasn’t been answering my calls either

Good idea. I'm sure if you remind her of your lucrative upcoming business deal she'll come back.

This is an excellent article. It talks about the psychology of tyranny, the history of resistance and the paths we have to take to rescue each other and recover.

So it's come my attention that there are a lot of students, particularly in humanities and social sciences disciplines, who need to hear this, so here goes:

Do the readings.

Oh my God, just do the readings. I promise, it gets easier once you get into the habit of it.

What makes a good student? Doing the readings. Literally just doing the readings is enough to make you a good student.

The readings *are* the course. The lectures are just priming you for the readings. The tutorials and seminars are just how we collectively process the readings. If the readings were intended to be optional, they would have been listed under the "optional readings" heading.

"Oh but I hate this reading! The author's an idiot, they're wrong about everything" Good. Do the reading and then tear it apart in class. This isn't high school, you're not expected to mindlessly absorb things anymore

If you're in physics, do the derivations. Don't believe that any equation given to you is true. Derive it. Convince yourself that it must be true, and understand the limitations of its truth.

I love those autumn mornings when you can smell the air and it’s a little bit cold but not too cold and there are leaves everywhere

Just encountered the idiom "小巫见大巫". Figuratively, it means "to pale in comparison". But literally it just means "small wizard sees big wizard".

And like... No. You cannot just use the words small and big when you're coming up with a metaphor about one thing outshining another in some respect.

Oh, you think the Empire State Building is tall? Well, comparing it to the Burj Khalifah, it's a real case of a... small guy see big guy.

No, absolutely not. Straight to jail. No idea how this one made the cut.

I see where you’re coming from but I feel like this idiom does a lot to redeem itself by incorporating wizards. More idioms should do that.
