I hope this triggers someone I found it hilarious.
The similarity is uncanny. I know it is based on bagua but daaaaaaaaamn it could not be a more perfect match.
I realise as a tai chi practitioner my viability in actual combat is very low. This, however, is not as a result of tai chi being an ineffective method of combat in and of itself but is a result in my own complacency. The martial artist’s own priority is to be able to defend themself. Regardless of the means. Some long time practitioners take pride in their purity. Having only practiced the purest style, untouched by modern influences. As a tai chi practitioner of yang style myself I have witnessed this in myself and among a few of my peers.
I would like to make the suggestion that any practitioners of martial arts regardless of style dabble in another martial art. HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING If you lack grappling skills since you do boxing take up wrestling or kickboxing to round yourself out. This is just one example and I expect the martial artist to have a certain amount of self reflection and self awareness to make these judgements themself. If you feel as though you are not skilled enough in your current art to take on this added challenge . It is entirely up to you wether or not you want to do this. Martial arts are for the individual to be able to defend themselves in real situations. Keep this in mind.
