he'd probably speak venetian too, I don't know the story too well, but mussolini tried to force regions to speak "official" italian, so it'd make sense for nico to speak his region's language

so that would make it:

  • venetian
  • italian
  • french (aristocratic childhood side-effect)
  • english (learned by immersion)
  • ancient greek (demigod superpower)
  • latin (maybe he learned some as a child too, otherwise he'd have to get the basics to pretend he was a roman demigod in CJ)
  • spanish (I hc reyna taught him)

ofc he's not as fluent in all of them, and I know it's a fandom hc that he lost his childhood italian/venetian but I'd eat my non-yanqui shit before I accept one of the two non-english speakers in the series being better at english than their first language :)

New Rome’s written like crap but wouldn’t it be fun if they did have systematical education only it followed the Roman Empire’s version of it? Jason has no idea what a freshman is but his Grammaticus says he should work on his public speaking

Completely unnecessary and unfounded TKC headcanons

  • Zia’s actually good playing basketball, Carter’s lowkey offended that she can beat him so often
  • Sadie does monthly sleepovers with Liz and Emma, they used to do Vines but now they’re big on Tiktok
  • Felix the penguin kid once made an accidental winterland paradise in Central Park (the Greek gods are still trying to figure out wtf happened so close to their home turf)
  • Cleo’s ace or in the spectrum. She’s not big on sports but she loves football (the real one, played with your feet) she plays for her school’s team she and Nico bond over this but that’s a hc for another time
  • Jaz has tried to teach everyone ever single choreography in High School Musical, Sadie once jokingly said she preferred Camp Rock, Jaz didn’t speak to her for a month
  • Carter becomes an archeologist specialised in Egypt, so he can get quick access to new sites and he can hide whichever important artifacts shouldn’t be left for mortals to take
  • The 21st Nome is full of people from everywhere, so there’s this whole deal about whether they should use the metric or imperial systems

Luke: Thalia used to braid Annabeth's hair a lot, when Thalia "died", he learned how to braid Annabeth's hair so she wouldn't miss Thalia so much

Ethan: originally, he was supposed to be a spy for the gods but then he realised how unfair they treated their children and was bought by the allure of the Dark Side.. he was also a sort of "councillor" for demigods on Kronos' side, making sure they're okay and looked after

I saw your post about the 10 years of service in camp jupiter, idk how it's supposed to be in canon (nor do I care much for canon most of the time tbh) but perhaps it's like citizenship when you move abroad, perhaps it's not 10 years in *camp* per se, perhaps demigods can also cover some of those years by working/studying in new rome, and after 10 years they get the benefits of citizenship (free health care, education, etc)

The ten years is the minimum to qualify to live in New Rome.

If they work like the old Romans, it's likely they would get benefits like health care, education, and legal aid through a "patron" (the richer, more established families). The money for the college has to come from somewhere - and it probably means more years of service (potentially of a different type), just to a family of the city.

Sorry, I meant to say that sometimes canon in the Riordanverse makes no sense or is rather unfair, that it would be better if it only took ten years to become a citizen but with the possibility of already living there instead of a decade at camp being mandatory

This is such a cute ask to think about! I’ll go with some of my favourite og pjo characters:

Thalia: she loved her babysitter to bits, so her favourite memories where the sleepovers she got to spend at the woman’s house when her mother wanted her out of the way

Clarisse: her maman and her spent a year in France, her favourite memory is her birthday there, they got this amazing almond cake from a bakery near their flat

Luke: whenever his mum was having a good day and she’d hold him and stroked his hair until he fell asleep

Nico: the weekends with his mamma and Bianca at his nonno’s place, specially the time they went shooting and found an ugly mutt puppy his nonno didn’t want but eventually allowed him to keep in exchange for Nico making an effort in his French classes. The mutt was called Comte Hideux

Annabeth: when her father taught her to play chess, she was six and awful at the game, but her father was patient and explained how each piece moved time after time

Percy: when he was five, he was taking a bath and cured a bruise his mum had on her arm, he used to think it had been some bizarre dream, but he can still remember the fruity smell of the soap they used for bubbles

yes yes i do

neither of them really do bedtime but carter is more of the trying to keep to a sleep schedule but forgets and sadie is proud of going to bed at 5am

sadie doesn't really like it when carter bosses her around - that's what they mainly argue over

so instead they create a chore rota for dishes and stuff

sadie never cleans her room even if it has a detrimental effect on her mental health so carter helps her with it a lot

sadie takes carter for clothes shopping a lot

he's touched in the beginning (slightly insulted too) but it just becomes a fortnightly tradition

they don't always buy clothes, it turns into shopping in general or just going to a cafe or library even though sadie doesn't like libraries

carter stims a lot without realising it. he does a lot of clicking his fingers and vocally stimming whereas sadie shimmies and has a stressball

sadie gets annoyed when carter doesn't put away books and leaves them anywhere

however she's a little hypocritical since she leaves a lot of her magazines out

neither of them are really used to having so much space

I think it's because it's kinda cheesy but cute. Like it's definitely something 14 year-old Luke would do if he wasn't like super shy about his feelings around Thalia. I think the song "She's a rebel" by Green Day has the same vibes (like it reminds u of Thalia). He probably sang them while secretly looking at her, like he has the grin and everything but everytime she turns around to look at him he just turns his head 🥺🥺🥺

this is completely up to opinion ofc, but I don't think maria was the strict one. She was probably religious, because why not, but like you said, she did have to illegitimate kids with a pagan god (whether he'd be considered satan tho, I don't think bc usually monotheistic religions aren't very comparable with polytheistic ones, and hades is also the ruler of elysium so he would be both god and satan)

maria's dad was a diplomat, so he was rich and likely a socialite, at the time maria would have nothing to her name and very little money that was hers alone, she was probably supported by her family (read: her father), who would have been strictly catholic (or at least appear to be so in mussolini's time), and who would've covered up her two bastards with some sob story of elopement gone wrong or something of the sort

not to mention even "liberal" people back then had lots of issues with lgbt people, and even if they didn't they wouldn't have often supported them openly, since fascist regimes aren't known for their open-mindedness

Titan Army headcanon: years later, Luke used that ability to make the most fantastic hairdoes on Ethan and Silena
