I wanted to know if you’d join us for a reading of A Christmas Carol? Why on earth would you read that drivel when my dear friend Dickens’ finest work is clearly Bleak House? Why? Because it’s Christmas Eve! No, it’s not. Yes! It’s December 24th. Also, Bleak House hasn’t been written yet.

Happy birthday, Edgar Allan Poe
A small detail added to Poe. I figured: if Lovecraft gets tentacles, Poe should have something too. India ink on watercolor paper. 8"x10"
Goth trigger: When you first discover Poe wrote more than just The Raven, and it’s fucking incredible.

So, this is actually part of a series. I posted the links to the first three volumes last week, and now, there is a fourth online. I can re-link if anyone is interested. This is actually part five of a six-part essay. It’s 25 pages and counting and took me a month and a half to write. Basically, the gist of this essay is whether or not “Girl Meets World” follows the trope of the Gothic double as exemplified in Edgar Allan Poe’s story “Ligeia” (Yes, I know that Poe is American, but since this story is about the doubling between two women, it made more sense to use Poe than Stevenson’s Jekyll and Hyde.). I recommend you read this story, not only because it will help you understand this article better but because the story is truly fascinating and chilling.

WHY DO I LOVE THIS?
I think this is what made me fall in love with The Simpsons. I can't remember what made me fall out of love with the show; a multitude of things, perhaps. But it's forever in my heart thanks to awesome segments like this.
