Spies Are Forever AUgust Challenge

Inspired by a discord server I'm in, I decided I want to try my hand at an AUgust challenge for the SAF fandom

What is AUgust? Basically, there's a list of prompts for each day (including some alternates, in case you want to switch some out), and you create ar/writing/edits/etc. for each AU (Alternate Universe). Some days have several prompts. You don't have to use all of them, theyre just there to give a few options so you aren't limited to one thing.

I'm posting this June 1st to give plenty of time to plan and create if you choose to partake in it.

This is not just for Curtwen! I know that's what the fandom likes to focus on, but I encourage you to use any and all characters in any way you want.

Here are the AUs (also listed below w/explanations)

  1. Role/Body Swap - Imagine the characters if they switched situations (or bodies). (Ex. Curt falls instead of Owen)
  2. Siren/Merfolk
  3. Cowboy/Western
  4. Pirates
  5. Monsters/Magic/Urban Fantasy - This is a broad category. Anything with magic and/or monsters and/or myths and fairy tales. (Ex. Curt is a werewolf and Chimera is a monster hunting organization)
  6. Furry/Pets - Reimagine the characters as furries/anthros. Not your thing? Make it an AU about them with pets instead
  7. Pokémon
  8. Genderbent/Trans
  9. Actor/Celebrity
  10. Pastel/Punk - Typically, this AU features one character who rocks a punk aesthetic while another wears/embodies pastel vibes. Variations are fun though! (Ex. Punk!Owen and Pastel!Curt)
  11. Apocalypse/Dystopia/War - Basically just a doomsday situation (Ex. Zombie apocalypse)
  12. Crime Ring/Mafia/Serial Killer/Assassins
  13. Angel/Demon
  14. Streamer/Influencer/Content Creator
  15. Artist - This covers any type of art. Writing, painting, singing, dancing, etc
  16. Sports
  17. Floppy Disk/Cyberpunk/Steampunk - Lately there's been a Floppy Disk!Owen (or Curt) AU floating around, where their consciousness is stored on a floppy disk. If that doesn't interest you, cyber/steampunk aesthetics could be the basis for your AU
  18. Star Wars/Star Trek/Space
  19. Shop Owners - Bookshop! Flower Shop! Tattoo Parlor! Bakery! Cafe! You know 'em, you love 'em. (Ex. Curt and Owen own rival bakeries)
  20. Dragons
  21. Princess Bride/Royalty - AU based on the movie The Princess Bride. If that doesn't interest you, royalty AUs are a good classic to go with
  22. Movie, Show, Book, Game, Musical Crossover/AU - Choose any other piece of media and use that as the basis for an AU (Ex. The SAF characters being reaped for the Hunger Games)
  23. High School/College/Teacher
  24. Rockstar/Band
  25. Soulmate - ANY version of the soulmate AU is fair game (Ex. Tati and Barb have countdown clocks until they meet each other)
  26. Superheroes/Powers
  27. Dungeons & Dragons
  28. Time Loop/Time Travel/Different Time Period
  29. Fandom Fusion - Similar to the one for the 22nd, have SAF characters crossover with a different fandom in any way you want (Ex. Dick Big finds himself at the bar with Ted Spankoffski and they are trying to out-sleaze the other)
  30. Circus/Performer
  31. Wings

Alternates: Canon Divergence, Single Parent, Domestic/Slice-of-life, Hanahaki, Alternate Timeline, Horror, Rare-Pair

ugh thinking about how Cynthia tries to recruit Owen to A.S.S. and he says something like "I believe they call that treason, my dear." Implying that at this point, before the fall, not committing treason is something Owen actually cares about. And then five minutes later he slips on Curt's banana peel and falls and gets a building exploded on him, and treason is kind of the least of his problems at that point

sans tiger sharks and tiger sharks are two different shark species, kinda like how curt puts on his suave spy persona thats different to his own. tiger sharks are what youd normally expect from a shark —aggressive and dangerous too humans— like how curts persona is whats expect of him at the time —confident heterosexual suave guy. however, sand tiger sharks are not dangerous towards humans (unless provoked), and curt is gay and —at least post fall— not the confident suave dude he pretends to be

Curt Mega, if you happen to see this, it’s about the character. The Spies fandom has been booming since Spy Another Day (which is fantastic because I have SAF brainrot) and people have been making the most amazing AUs. (Maybe this au existed beforehand, but my point still stands)

I think about that a lot, I wish that person a good day every day. I love curtwen as a ship name but I think we really missed out

I haven’t been online much except to reblog things bc it’s been finals week and I had to move out of my dorm and all and let me tell you

I’m so upset. All my mutuals have been making such good posts and I’m BEHIND. There’s so much AU lore to catch up on (shoutout to the It’s About Spies discord)

I am free from the evil clutches of higher academia for the summer and I have some THINGS I’m working on, specifically related to SAF bc that’s my current hyperfixation
