THIS IS A CALL TO ACTION. Censorship affects all of us, and if Project 2025 gets its way, the entire trans publishing industry is at a significant risk of criminalization. In this article, I lay out the problem and the stakes, and suggest a broad action plan with dozens of potential response ✊

What I cover:

- Citations from P25

- Historical overview of American obscenity law as pertains to trans people

- Assessment of trans censorship in Nazi Germany

- Three core philosophies for resisting fascist censorship

- An action plan broken down by interest group (readers, authors, etc.)

Hey, the ACLU is getting people to send letters to your Reps to have Congress pass the No Kings Act.

This act would make constitutional amendments to ensure that even sitting presidents are held liable for their actions. That NOBODY is above the law.

Their goal is 150k messages sent and at the time of writing this they're about 2.1k off from that goal!

ACLU gives you a prefilled message that you can edit to send to make the process easier, and will send it out for you.

This only takes a few minutes!

Make the most of the next two months

  • Get all your vaccines
  • Travel while we have a functioning DOT
  • Read and buy books on feminism, anti-racism, pro-lgbt
  • Attend drag shows
  • Don't skip any of your classes
  • Read and buy history books
  • Find your out-of-state networks
  • Learn to carry cash
  • Get birth control solutions
  • Support the Biden/Harris administration
  • Postpone large purchases and save money
  • Be careful of what you say online, like un-ambiguous attacks against the incoming administration, especially in spaces that contain your full name or personal information

Feel free to add on.

wow! as a broke college kid, i wish there was a way to access books and movies as well as scientific articles that the new administration isn't necessarily a fan of. man. If only there was a free and trusted vpn ( up to 10 gigs of downloadable data) to use in conjunction with an anonymizing router (also free up to 10 gigs) to safely, er, permanently borrow media in an untraceable way as well as share files. Man, what's that browser that keeps your online activity anonymous? I'm awfully attached to firefox, personally. If only i had a browser extension that would throw a smoke screen over my browsing data while blocking ads at the same time.

what was i talking about? hmm. weird.

This is an excellent article. It talks about the psychology of tyranny, the history of resistance and the paths we have to take to rescue each other and recover.

no matter the outcome of this election: organize, build local community, build strength in masses. elections aren't the only time politics happen, it also happens on the streets, in the community and by mutually supporting each other.

the way forward is together. we build power from the ground up. in the US and everywhere else in the world.

a better world is possible and we can start building it now, by ourselves. anarchism starts in the now.

hack the planet

ANARCHISM STARTS IN THE NOW

The election doesn’t start tomorrow, it ends tomorrow.

If you haven’t already, please make sure you are registered to vote and know where your polling place is (vote.org is a great and easy way to get that information). Additionally, please make sure you have a way to get to your polling place. Uber and Lyft often give free or discounted rides to the polls, and this year the car rental company, Hertz, is allowing free one-day rentals to get to the polls. More information on that here.

EDIT: NAACP has a discount code to use for Lyft, valid for two rides up to $20 ($40 total). Use code: NAACPVOTE24

The following states allow same day registration for general elections, ie: the presidential election:

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Washington DC
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Maine
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New Hampshire
  • New Mexico
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Virginia
  • Washington
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

Note: North Dakota does not require formal voter registration, and upon presenting valid identification at a polling place, eligible citizens receive their ballot to vote.

The following states are required by law to give you time off to vote (between one and three hours):

  • Alabama
  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Kentucky
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska
  • Nevada
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Oklahoma
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • West Virginia
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming

*Most states requiring employers to permit voting leave also require that this time is paid. Among the above, the following do not: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, North Dakota. (info here)

Again, it is your right to vote. If you are in line when the polls close, stay in line. It is your legal right to vote.

If you are turned away at the polls, say the following verbatim: “Give me a provisional ballot with a receipt as required by law.”

If you make a mistake on your ballot, you have the right to ask for a new ballot. Don’t cross anything out, simply ask for a new one.

Poll workers are required to make reasonable accommodations for voters who need, including ballots in other languages or translators.

Canvassing is not allowed at polling places, and no one is allowed to threaten or intimidate voters. You have the right to report anything of the like.

Some tips:

Don’t wear political merch to the polls.

Don’t engage with anyone about your politics at the polls.

Don’t take phone calls inside your polling place — it can wait, please be respectful.

Research who is running locally and see what their policies are. Additionally, research any local propositions that may be on the ballot. The language on ballots is made to be purposefully confusing, so make sure you read everything carefully in addition to your research.

If you’re able to get up early on Election Day, go right when your polling place opens to beat the line.

REMEMBER: IT IS YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!

Here are a list of state-by-state voter protection hotlines, as well as hotlines in various other languages:

Please vote tomorrow if you have not already. It’s so important, and choosing not to vote or voting for a third party is a vote for extremist measures. Vote down the ballot, and do not let anyone bully you into voting one certain way.

What we are seeing throughout this election cycle (and the last two election cycles) is entirely abnormal. The bullying we see from a certain side and its supporters is childish and dangerous. They spew false information, make racist remarks, and sexualize and discriminate fellow candidates. No single presidential candidate is completely and wholly good, so criticize accordingly.

Vote with those you love in mind, vote with your safety in mind, and vote for those who will be affected for decades to come. Vote for someone who speaks coherently, not for someone who is, let’s be honest, not cognitively alright — and that is the bare minimum of the issue.

If you have anything to add to this post, please do. If anything is incorrect, please let me know and I will gladly change it.

Vote. Vote. Vote.

Hey, US citizens who are eligible to vote, today is National Voter Registration Day!

As someone unable to vote in the country I live in, I’d like to take a moment to encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to check their voter registration.

Deadlines are coming up fast in many states, and many states have been purging their voter rolls to try and suppress the vote. Don’t let them take it from you.

You can use this link below to check your voting status, and remind your friends/family/followers to do the same; it only takes a couple minutes.

And remember, if you’re vote didn't matter, the bastards wouldn’t be working so hard to take it from you.

I see posts going "Okay, I'll vote for Kamala, I GUESS IF I HAVE TO" and "omg if that's the best we can do I suppose I'll support it" and I'm like...

What do you people fucking WANT?

Let's run down how she's rated politically by some organizations that we vibe with, kay?

  • ACLU = 93% on civil liberties
  • AFL-CIO = 100% on trade unions
  • Human Rights Campaign = 100% on queer rights
  • League of Conservation Voters = 91% on environmentalism
  • NARAL = 100% on reproductive rights
  • NRA Fund = 7% on gun rights (we LIKE a low score on this one)
  • NEA = 100% on education
  • Planned Parenthoos = 100% on reproductive rights

In addition, GovTrack (which is a nonpartisan tracker) places her in the MOST politically left-leaning categories of Senators. So we've got a very liberal, woman of color who's spent her career trying to mitigate draconian tough-on-crime laws to benefit the accused and keep black people out of prison and decrease recidivism and that's somehow...just barely tolerable.

So I ask again...what is that you're dissatisfied with? Is it Palestine? as recently as March she was calling for a ceasefire and demanding aid to Gaza. Keep in mind she's pretty constrained as to what's possible to do in this situation.

Is it just that she was a prosecutor? That is an important job that needs to be done and we WANT people doing it who aren't rah-rah tough-on-crime Gestapo types, which she is not. We need prosecutors who are addressing the root causes of crime and looking for ways to help people escape the cycle, which she has done to the point that she was often called SOFT on crime.

So what is your objection here? Is it that her politics aren't 100% aligned with a bunch of Tumblr socialists? I got news for you...we Tumblr socialists DO NOT REPRESENT THE ELECTORATE. If such a candidate existed, they would not win.

Democrats struggle sometimes because our tent is large. Republicans just want you if you're a straight white man and preferably rich. There's room for a lot more types in the lefty side, but sadly that means a lot of room also for dissention among the ranks. This is how they get us. Let's not let them, huh? Just a suggestion.

Every time I see/hear "Kamala the Cop" in leftist spaces, I want to scream. She campaigned on "Defund the Police" and "Maybe lets think about prison abolition/reform" in 2020. It wasn't that long ago.

MOONSHOT? THEY'RE NOT RENEWING THE CANCER MOONSHOT INVESTMENTS??? Trump let it lag thru his entire administration (hello, where do you think he "found" all the money for his disastrous economy shifts), but since 2020 the Moonshot initiative has been hooked back up to its research funding lifeline.

Screenshotted article here:

To give some additional insight into how insane this is, no matter WHAT party is behind it:

Since 1937, the federal government has led a bipartisan and RIGOROUS effort to eradicate cancer. President Roosevelt takes action to establish the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and this is STILL center of US cancer research. This is the large bucket all the research funding is put in to distribute amongst research + trials.

The NCI has this to say about their establishment in 1937 (emphasis by me):

August 5, 1937—The National Cancer Institute (NCI) was established through the National Cancer Act of 1937, signed into law by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Its passage represented the culmination of nearly three decades of efforts to formalize the U.S. government’s place in cancer research. The act represents the first time that Congress provided funding to address a non-communicable disease. The act created NCI as an independent research institute within the Public Health Service. NCI became the federal government’s principal agency for conducting research and training on the cause, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer.
NCI was tasked with assisting and promoting cancer research at other public and private institutions, particularly by providing funding opportunities to support promising cancer research. The act established the National Advisory Cancer Council, now known as the National Cancer Advisory Board, which recommended approval of first award for fellowships in cancer research shortly thereafter.

For nearly 90 years, there has been dedicated and earnest federal funding towards cancer research. During this span of time, the leukemia that killed my great grandmother in 8 months at 38 years old can now be treated and SURVIVED. Cancer is not a death sentence PURELY because doctors have spent nearly a century not resting until answers are found. This is not political, this is humanitarian. Our breakthroughs in America are shared internationally and our international peers share back with us. This funding should be beyond reproach as it goes to one of our greatest successes in the international medical community.

The NCI site has this excellent graphic laying out major points in their history:

Click this link to see the actual amount of significant historical markers of the NCI: Important Events in NCI History

seriously, click it and see how long it takes to scroll to the end of the history section. You will notice most presidents have tried to make a positive impact somewhere in the NCI, regardless of party. Cancer is not an option for political pissing matches.

Okay, so what is the Cancer Moonshot?

Moonshot is an initiative originally added to the NCI in 2016 that was a BURST of funding, research, and patient trials. This is a thriving research environment as lush as the amazonian rainforest. As VP, Biden led the way clearing a space for the Moonshot - - deeply motivated by the loss of his son to brain cancer. It is clear he has been determined to secure the Moonshot's place in the NCI permanently in the interest of public health.

Here's the NCI's event marker for Moonshot:

January 12, 2016—During his 2016 State of the Union Address, President Obama called on Vice President Biden to lead a new, national “Moonshot” initiative to eliminate cancer as we know it. The goal is to double the rate of progress against cancer, achieving in five years what otherwise would have taken ten. The White House announced a $1 billion initiative to jumpstart this work.

Not only was there a surge in research, but there was a massive acceleration in our understanding of early detection in many cancers. Meaning we started catching it smaller, less invasive, and easier to eradicate (becoming CANCER FREE!!!!!! 🎉). If you wondered why you were hearing so many updates to when to get screened, this is largely the explanation. We started saving more lives!

It is a very robust and multi-faceted piece of our public health system that I am not qualified to speak on in every capacity, so I will leave you with a link to its info page. If you ever feel hopeless about cancer, I recommend looking here to find out how we've most recently began kicking its ass. There are some exciting international trials beginning that involve immunotherapy + vaccine-based care 🎉🎉🎉

I know this is a lot to read, but if you don't want to read my words, then PLEASE consider reading the NCI's words. There are very few organizations that have such impactful insights into life-saving efforts.

This is worth informing your vote. Turn away from anyone who minimizes how massively important it is to save lives in the present and future. Turn away from anyone who tells you to believe it is an unsolvable, therefore needlessly expensive, problem. And absolutely turn away from anyone who would devalue increased cancer survival rates to politically wound an opponent. That makes them an opponent to you, your family, and anyone impacted by cancer (did you know that's everyone? You have an important and powerful stance here too!)

if you would rather elect a fascist than a liberal you're not a leftist you're just edgy

"no one for president 2024" how are you gonna stop the electoral process? what's your game plan for eliminating every candidate? or is this just theater to you?

if you wanted to actually make any material difference, you'd evaluate the political power leftists have and then actually use it. there ain't enough of us to elect a leftist president, let alone stage some mythical Revolution. meaning that if the country collapsed right now, it wouldn't be leftists that take over.

if your goal is to lose with your hands clean then by all means just keep posting and nothing else, but if you want to fix anything on the systemic level then you need allies. you need to be able to work with people you don't agree with on everything. that means making momentary compromises when necessary. emphasis on momentary. if kamala gets elected, she isn't president forever, and if you vote for her, you aren't sworn to the democratic party.

low voter turnout has never made the US shift to the left before, so I don't know why so many tumblr users think it suddenly would now. decreasing voter turnout is a right wing goal, they pour obscene amounts of money into it. if leftists don't vote, that's less resistance for republicans, and it's frankly the only reason republicans ever get elected anymore.

I'm not gonna call anybody a psyop, and it doesn't really matter if they are or not, because it doesn't change the fact that y'all anti-voters are spreading conservative propaganda to own the libs. I've literally seen leftists arguing, at me, that "trump is actually less damaging for minorities" like are you fucking listening to yourself. you are so obsessed with owning the libs that you have stopped being critical of fascism. how do you not realize you're straight up parroting conservative propaganda?

someone is gonna get elected this year, and based on the polling data it's gonna be trump or harris. you can either increase the chances that it's trump, or increase the chances that it's harris. refusing to vote increases trump's chances, so that's probably not a particularly leftist move. if you think there is no difference between trump and harris, then either you aren't paying any attention at all, or you just don't care.

I listened to the anti-electoralists, I genuinely gave it consideration, and I'm sorry but it's contributing nothing to leftism, it's just conservative propaganda dressed up in woke language. they're the Useful Idiot for conservatives
