OG Reylo 💜 / My meta  / my edits / Ben .... (I know)...

Beautiful FanArt by Lew James. Everyone...Em and I have a theory, and it's this. Hux is the Mouth of Sidious. It's a dangerous business, underestimating a rabid cur...who truly sells his soul to destroy who he hates most 💙⚔❤

Beautiful art work...

and HUX becoming potentially the other dangerous unexpected villain is really interesting.... Lucasfilm has been holding back a lot of details about the first order and Hux,  and brought all the attention on Palpatine. Either they are giving away too much of the story already or they are selling it while hiding a huge  twist.  Hux is also an abused child who killed is father and could easily become the antithesis of Kylo/Ben...

omg I'm looking at the VF shoot and i just have one thing to say about that duel in the rain. It looks like someone else is supposed to be there. Like, Rey is holding her lightsaber up blocking something already and the way Ben is positioned, it doesn't look like they are directly fighting each other.

Anon we are wearing the same tinfoil hat because when I first saw that photo of them I KNEW something was up!!!!

First of all, the tag: “Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and Rey battle it out with lightsabers in a stormy confrontation” is intentionally misleading. They want us to assume it’s against one another but the tag could also mean the two of them “battle it out with lightsabers in a stormy confrontation” against (Palps????). Perhaps a threat off camera in this shot or even invisible?

They are not positioned in a way that says they are fighting each other. Their hips are both turned facing camera and Rey is much too far from Kylo to already be working on a down swing, especially with his saber so far back from hers.

I completely agree with you that it seems like Rey is already blocking something/someone. She’s struggling and leaning backwards. Not to mention her eyes are not focused on Kylo as they should be if she were actively attacking him here.

Kylo is focused on Rey but doesn’t he seem a bit concerned? Similar to the look he gave her during the Praetorian Guard fight? Maybe he’s worried about her struggling against the unseen attacker? 👀

It’s worth noting someone else mentioned that the photographer always makes her own sets, and nonenifnthek occured the same way in their respective films if we look at prolior sw shots as examples

it could be that they are in actual different places fighting other people, but force-connected…. this could be the new level of depth of the force bond as mentioned in the article…

So basically Rian Johnson had a Force bond where we never saw them together on camera, and they only saw each other and not their surroundings….

JJ could have it so that you see them on the same shot when they are force connected and they see each others surroundings….

@catalina-infanta yes this is a creation of the photographer, but she may be using the actual set .... and / or influenced by JJ... maybe ;)

I suppose so…

if a scene like this happens through the Force bond, I’d love to see her asking him to “take off that mask” (like Han Solo) , because she can sense his true feelings......

I like the idea of the helmet being a last attempt to protect himself from the pull to the light embodied by Rey..... to whom he finally ADMIT he loves her after peeling off this last  broken layer of his Kylo Ren persona.

I will be honest though, a Reylo fight is up there on my shitlist for IX. There is no room for another relationship crisis to be solved in addition to the one we were left with at the end of TLJ because the Bendemption arc is anchored to their relationship and I don’t see how that can handle a setback this late along the line when so many people still haven’t even realized it’s happening in the first place. And them trying to somehow beat each other into submission however briefly really doesn’t do anything for the Balance we hope to see, even if they’re shown to be equal in the Force. I just can’t see how it would work.

@taule I know. But let’s just say it’s a short one with a lot of character and plot development packed in? What about then?

I think it’s a genre thing. In a rom-com or comedy of manners, this would be handled by an extremely cathartic argument. But this is an adventure story with two protagonists who are highly physical warriors on opposite sides of a war, and one of whom has apparently spent the interim conquering the galaxy. There’s some emotions to work out here. And I think the point it’s to hammer home for Rey that their fates are still tied and there’s still light despite everything, and for Ben that it might be time to deal with his past rather than trying to kill it.

I’m also heavily betting that we spend two- thirds if this thing thinking Ben’s gone. Somewhere in Act 3, Rey figures out something she’s initially misunderstood, probably due a chance comment that helps her connect the dots. And that’s when we realize that Ben’s been trying to clean up his mess on his own. Ben and Rey are the plot. We don’t get the resolution to their relationship until damn near the end.

@catalina-infanta I still don’t want it 😭 I just don’t see how that could give us the character development we need now. On one hand, if it’s an angry confrontation, it might push them far enough to confess things. But the circumstances and Ben’s pending redemption won’t guarantee that this is the main takeaway for the GA. After all there would have been violent conflict again. And if it has already taken us two films to get just this far, and I’m trying to fight the feeling that the remaining time won’t be enough to provide a truly satisfying conclusion if it’s really done that way.

I agree with what you say @reylorabbittrail. It’s makes sense for genre, and in some ways also for structure. But seeing the ground that we have yet to cover and how what we’ve seen hasn’t been enough for a large part of the GA to see the light, I’m just worried that leaving so much to depend on the last act will not get us where we want this to go. Especially in the wake of season 8 of GoT.

Star Wars is never going to be ugly violent like GOT. A fight must happen, purely because of the narrative requirement: BUT, this will be entirely different fight.

In VII, they fought against each other.

In VIII, they fight together against common foes.

In IX, they will fight FOR each other.

@taule  I hear you, I really wish we could move on from the notion of them fighting, so I am trying to see it more as a couple’s fight... so yeah we may get one in Act one, but  it would be more like a hard conversation, where they let it all out, and they listen to each other’s feelings I think.... I hope :/ I guess the GOT disappointment is getting to me ...

@kylo-babe-too nicely put!

An inSIDIOUS return: What is Palpy’s place in all of this?

ARE WE REALLY LOOKING AT REY’S PARENTAGE AGAIN!?

The return of Palpatine is arguably the biggest surprise of the Star Wars Celebration Panel and the Episode IX teaser trailer. The near hysteria at his return has created enthused speculation as to how and where he fits into the end game, what his place is in all of this. It has perhaps superseded even the discussion about what The Rise of Skywalker actually means.

I posit that, by their choice to reveal to us Palpatine’s role in the final episode this early, Disney must still have another unforgettable reveal. **This is not it**

This is the pattern of the trilogies, after all, with the ending of each being something huge and unexpected, something that changes the stakes altogether. It is not going to be something as simple and obvious as Palpatine simply being the final grand-villain of all villains.

Abrams said: “This movie had a very, very specific challenge, which was to take eight films and give an ending to three trilogies, and so we had to look at, what is the bigger story? We had conversations amongst ourselves, we met with George Lucas before writing the script.”

I have here put together my thoughts on what I think some of that might be, bearing in mind that I am no expert, and that I am very happy to be disagreed with and to have my argument refuted.

I agree if they show us Palpatine now, it’s nothing compared to the big reveal (s) we’ll get!

Rey’s origins have already been answered to, and as Reylos we were happy with the answer, but I get that the General audience might not adhere to the Rey nobody, the concept is cool, we can all be like her.... but to finish the story, and to add twists and turns, a more detailed and complexed portrayal of her origins is definitely coming...

The dark origins have always been something I’d hope for...  We have so many theories, the wait will be long!

darlings-reylo, it taking shapes… even the most scornful are turning neutral…. so likely i just had to copy-paste almost the whole article here, when cbr becoming a reluctant reylo believer, its time to rejoice. here we go….

“ Following up on everything about leaving the past behind in Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi, this rumor would be a perfect way to finish the sequel trilogy. It would also be hard to find a better way to close out George Lucas’ Skywalker saga than seeing Rey and Kylo truly learn from the mistakes of Anakin and Luke to forge a new path…”

(imagine cbr bringing us a reylo picture as above? seriously?)

“ The conflict between the Jedi and the Sith has gone on long enough, and there doesn’t seem to be any end in sight to this point. It’s time for both sides to make a change, come together, and finally put everything to rest…….

“That’s where we could be when Episode IX picks up. The Jedi and the Sith have fought their war, but nothing is different. The galaxy is still in chaos, and it’s clear that something needs to change. After the failures of Anakin, Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Luke before them, the only logical way to conclude the sequel trilogy is for Rey and Kylo Ren to settle their differences and work together. This has always been the only way to actually bring balance to the Force……

In this same way, the Jedi and the Sith are different facets of the same Force, which is also the fibrous power that unites all Life….. Just as the Lanterns united their power to tap into the power of the White Lantern to turn the tide of battle, the Force users must create something new out of the two factions. By using both sides of the Force, Rey and Kylo can finally bring balance and peace. The only problem is finding the right villain to unite against…..

For Episode IX to arrive at the conclusion that makes the most sense, it will need a villain so dangerous that it will leave the Light and Dark sides of the Force no other choice. In the Green Lantern comics, the villain known as Nekron was introduced to create such a need. The avatar of death posed such a threat, that the factions of lanterns had no choice but to work together.

We already saw what Rey and Kylo Ren are capable of doing when they are united against a common foe. The Last Jedi nearly had the two come together in their fight against Snoke, so it’s clear that camaraderie is possible. For the two sides to become one, though, it would take something so menacing that it would cause both Jedi and Sith to finally drop their guard. …

It’s hard to say what kind of threat could possibly be enough to bring this all about. However, by following the themes of Blackest Night, it’s hard to find a better motivator than an undead army. Imagine if a third threat emerged from “The Beyond” – we have already called it the “Anti-Force” previously, and what better descriptor is there for death in a Galaxy Far, Far Away? For a set of warriors with the power over life itself, facing the dead would be one hell of a way to bring them face to face with their antithesis — both literally and figuratively.

Star Wars does not actually have to raise the dead in order to mirror a story as important as Blackest Night, of course. All we really need is one very big and powerful enemy that neither side can deal with on their own. Whether that’s another Force user, the ghost of Palpatine, or even just someone like General Hux and the First Order, it’s all just one big excuse to do what makes the most sense: have the Light and Dark side try something new against a force bigger than both of them….”

(when critics start seeing Reylo-demption / or Bendemption made senses. 20 Dec might really be our Pay-day.)

I have a feeling that Richard E. Grant’s Character or Matt Smith may be from the Beyond. I like the idea of the MacGuffin bringing both sides together. Maybe they all meet on Jakku as a truce?

Fine by me! Whatever they come up with, of course it has to be about union/unity.

Sounds good to me!

I’ve said since leaving the theater of TFA that this trilogy is about balance. I predicted Rey and Kylo uniting to kill Snoke (granted I thought he was the ultimate big bad they would off in the end). The prequel trilogy was all about the Jedi failing which led to Anakin turning. The OG trilogy was about the Sith’s downfall in obtaining Luke, they couldn’t snuff out the light. But clearly neither side can dominate and bring peace. CLEARLY THERE NEEDS TO BE BALANCE.

It’s clearly the rule of three y’all, just sayin.

“The Last Jedi nearly had the two come together in their fight against Snoke, so it’s clear that camaraderie is possible.”  Camaraderie ... LOL

Nice to see concepts, ideas and theories we have laid out from day 1 are becoming mainstream.... balance, unity (yin yang), a bigger threat... yes, but they still have some difficulty with the idea of LOVE 🤣 Camaraderie is OK, I suppose that’s already a massive improvement!

People either don't know (or forget) that Hux killed his dad to supplant him. He has zero regrets about this. Compare this to Ben, who can barely hold it together after he killed his dad. Hux is definitely going to be The Big Bad, and he's going after everyone who made him look bad.

Yeah I think Hux would make a great underdog main villain, and I think he’s been set up nicely to take on such a role. It sets up a way out for Ben too, bc Hux is bound to not only betray him, but pose as a foil that shows Ben why he doesn’t want to side with the FO anymore. This is the kind of person he’s really fighting for, and I think Ben deep down sees himself as a hero, not a villain. So seeing that his actions benefit someone like HUX should be a wake up call.

Hux is absolutely going to target Rey, too, and there is NO way Ben will be ok with that.

it coud definitely happen. I’ve always loved the idea of Kylo / Ben being sidelined ‘somehow’ by Hux, while he wallows in guilt and sadness. The idea of the resistance and Rey believing Kylo / Ben is responsible  for more horror while it’s really Hux  could add more drama and ANGST, and indeed Ben could  then choose a different path and reveal himsel as the hero he was always meant to be ...
