The only other time Ben went that feral in battle is when fighting the Praetorian guard, when he’s fighting Rey he’s never like that, the opponents around them have the same outfit and are “faceless” mooks like the Praetorian guard, and he’s already pretty dirty and wet (unlike the scene in the hangar.) Late movie battle scene as he begins to step towards redemption, perhaps? Someone already mentioned the theory that Hux/Pryde might try to blow up Kijimi while Kylo is there to get rid of him
Interesting observations. I also got the vibe he’s fighting against the FO here. Could be third act, or maybe not, but I think we might be getting some version of the “coup” storyline we theorized pre-Palpatine reveal after all. Could it tie into Palpatine’s plot somehow?
Also, I really want Kylo to Force-freeze a huge cannon bolt or even a second Starkiller beam and saving a planet from destruction. This has been another one of my headcanons/wishlist items since TFA. (my ideal scenario is that he does it with Rey, but heh… we’ll see)

So the fight is the culmination of the contentious relationship, must be half way through the movie or maybe a bit further, 2/3 of the way, but I feel that fight will be a way to let out all their feelings of anger and love trying to come to terms with it all. they probably feel betrayed by the other even more so because they are so connected. Oh the drama. I bet they’ll be screaming at each other…

@catalina-infanta I think yes probably. Based on the latest info about Ben Solo’s background, I think their origin story will also come into play. In the last movie they must both define who they are, beyond the past and their legacy (or lack of). It’s the adult part of the movie, with a grounded and reasonable maturity allowing to resolve the last remaining conflicts in the story.
The culmination of their “angry” relationship is a fight in the middle of a sea storm where all the elements are wild and dangerous. It’s a magnificent way to represent their inner turmoil and the desperate intensity of their feelings but also showcases their vulnerability. There is also hope to see the calm after the storm, that the water washes away pains and resentment.
I do hope most of their interactions up to that point won’t be fight after fight, it would be tedious…. and sad. I enjoyed the intimate conversations from TLJ.

Anyways, i have an incling that maybe the scene where Kylo is in blue light in a hangar, if he IS trying to stop a ship or the Falcon from leaving, that this is in part due to this misunderstanding?
@catalina-infanta I can’t find the interview where she says that, but it’s possible, I know she said it was “very very complicated”, that it’s not one thing, Adam said that too. They are obviously experiencing contradictory emotions, a push and pull. If it was simple, it would be love or hate... just one thing. DRAMA, ANGST.... bring your tissues!!

when he moves his lightsaber backwards towards the floor and looks determined and pouty, I have a feeling he’s trying to talk, and proving it by being less threatening. Good point about the hair. The big thing missing looking like a gun, could be on the opposite side. Anyway the fighting is not super enthusiastic, as if they might be talking at the same time.

I think we’ll get at least 2, first I thought we’d get one in the middle but I think we might see show of affections instead... however I think the first kiss, the fairy tale type kiss, will be at the end or during the climax, and the second one wull take place during the last sequence that JJ mentioned in an interview, which I imagine will be a sort of epilogue and I can absolutely see a kiss there too :)

I WANT the angst kiss SO BAD and I think we COULD get it, but if we’re talking probability I’d say a post redemption kiss is WAY more likely. Honestly I feel like it’s basically guaranteed. I’m 99.9% sure we’re getting a post redemption kiss and 65% sure on the angst kiss. I’m personally hoping we get both.
Seriously though, what a WASTE of angst/sexual tension if we JUST have a post redemption kiss. Rian already flirted with the possibility of a pre redemption kiss in the steamy turbo lift so I don’t think it’s unreasonable to hope for.

I agree. I think getting an angsty kiss pre-redemption makes sense simply because it heightens the stakes for the final confrontation against Palpatine. A kiss pre-redemption would tell the audience without any doubts that Rey and Ben have feelings for each other, which would make a possible death by the end of the movie (before the ressurrection) even more gut-wrenching for everyone.

No, really, it makes so much sense. If they want people to cheer for Ben’s redemption it has to be linked to the heroine’s happiness, in a way that shows that is not the same for this fictional universe if he redeems himself or not.
Also, this is an afterthought, but in my meta about the frog Prince and Rey , I speculated that, just as the princess of the story had to accept the frog as he was in the present (by letting him sleep in her bed -marriage symbology) for him to become his real self, a pre-redemption declaration of love (and a kiss) could serve the same purpose with Reylo.
My thoughts exactly, there has to be not possible denial of their mutual feelings, and JJ definitely talked about desperation... a single sweet, like an afterthought right at the end would not be satisfying.
Have you read the detailed leak for act one of TROS by JediPaxis? On one hand, I am hoping it is true because it affirms that Rey has healing abilities and her force bond interactions with Kylo will start taking place in the first act itself. On the other hand, this leaker has previously said that Ben dies after redeeming himself in the end so I am fervently hoping his information is inaccurate/incomplete.
The sandworm sequence, if it is true, is a textbook chekhov’s gun for Rey using that power later in a crucial moment.
In JediPaxis’ bloated fanfic, it’s just there to explain why Palps would be interested in Rey (so she can heal him back to his original strength). But you don’t give the heroine such a SPECIFIC power without it coming to fruition for something GOOD and BEAUTIFUL and HEROIC, like resurrecting the only son of the OT heroes who JUST sacrificed his life to save the galaxy.
JediPaxis thinks the ultimate point of Rey and Kylo is to accidentally bring Palps back, arm him with new superpowers, and then fail at defeating him so Ghost Luke and a bunch of other old dudes from the past trilogies can save the day, reestablishing who REALLY matters in this franchise (characters who are the age of the new audience’s grandparents, and who are the self inserts for 40-something fanbros who’ve been shitting on the new trilogy since 2015)
Like I said, I think JP has access to SOME legit info, but he’s starting to love the smell of his own farts a bit too much, so he’s milking whatever real information he has as much as he can by filling the many blanks with his own imagination and dragging his audience along as he reveals new pieces of info every day, and people eat up every word he says and continue giving him new ideas in the comments so he keeps building and building his house of cards. Which is why it takes him so long to “go through his notes”—bro, this isn’t the divine comedy, it’s a goddamn children’s movie. The plot can’t be THAT complicated.
The way he describes the first act might have some truth to it but it’s TOO convoluted and complicated. There’s the wayfinder and the oracle and then Palpatine’s shrine, meanwhile Lando shows up out of nowhere telling a convoluted story from the past about an imperial officer which brings them to a ship which in turn triggers Rey’s memories, but it’s also about his lost child, which Finn inevitably thinks is him à la Blade Runner 2049… I got a headache trying to read it, to be honest. Me thinks somebody doctored the sparse info he got to the point of turning it into an unrecognizable mess.
I thought his leaked plot for act I was way too convoluted as well. This movie is not 5 hours long.
Also what really ticks me off is that he makes it seem as if palps is the focus of the movie. There is no rise of any Skywalker anywhere in the plot.
Whether he likes it or not, this movie will be about Ben’s redemption. And it won’t be as simple as “Kylo realizes he’s been wrong and turns good”.
@mweerden Exactly ! Ben and Rey are the focus, and Ben may need to atone for his mistakes but he also needs saving from the abuse he endured and so he will not be dead at the end of TROS.
Also despite the sheer stupidity of most of the leaks, I’d say the healing ability sounds just right (well, I like it) , but hope that Ben will have similar abilities.... they need to be equal in the Force, so that would make sense to me...
I don’t know if they can integrate a new concept within the time frame of TROS , but I sure hope they can fit that one in! If they want to get as many references to past stories and past characters as possible, it would be a cool way to do it !
Everytime I think of what Ben will do in TROS, I would remember this quote by Lando about Ben in Empire’s End “With the blood of a scoundrel and a princess in his veins, his defiance will shake the stars.” OMG I kept on repeating that quote in my head and I just get so excited for TROS! 100 days to go untiI TROS!

I think you're overlooking something with regard to a "Ben in exile" ending. "Exile" doesn't have to mean becoming a hermit like Yoda and Luke did. "Exile" for Ben could take the form of becoming a sort of knight-errant, going out into the galaxy to do good deeds as a form of atonement. It would still be a happy ending. Plus Disney would have an excuse for wandering do-gooder knight/cowboy Ben to show up in future stories because they love money- I mean callbacks to stories people like.
No, because deliberate apartness of this kind is still punishment and trying to punish yourself is wasteful and selfish. Exile is failure, period. The cardinal virtues of SW are participatory. He has to integrate his identity and fully rejoin society or the cycle of generational tragedy has not been broken and the legacy has not been reclaimed. This is exactly what Anakin’s redemption failed to do and is the reason Ben was vulnerable to Snoke. Leia didn’t reconcile with her father or the Skywalker legacy, kept it a secret, and this festering wound destroyed her family.
Travelling around helping people is fine and I’m sure will happen in the EU, but not as an exiled ronin without a home base. He’ll be known and have a public life somewhere with Rey.
