Emory watched silently as the people at the party conversed. There were lots of people who were just like him. They had a Whumper Caretaker.

But he didn’t understand the way they acted around their caretakers. Some of them leaned away from their caretaker’s touch, some frowned at their caretaker, some walked away from their caretaker completely.

Why would they do such a thing? Why would they want to be away from the source that brought them care and comfort? Emory would never do that. It was almost like they hated their caretaker.

On the way back home, he turned to his own. “Athena?”

“Yes Darling?” She hummed, preoccupied by her phone. She put it away before giving her full attention.

“Why do some people hate their caretakers?”

She raised a brow. “I’m not sure. Perhaps they’re ungrateful.”

“But why? Your caretaker gives you everything. They literally take care of you.”

“Some people just don’t understand that. They take it for granted.” She shrugged.

“I won’t do that. I like living with you. I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

She smiled, pulling him into her side. “Aw, that’s so sweet!” She rested her head atop his. “I won’t ever let anything happen to you, okay Emy?”

Smiling back, he snuggled closer into her side. “Okay.”

Guys I finally figured out how to write normally again! 😭 Except when it comes to titles. I've been in a slump for what felt like forever but I think it's over now. I decided to revive a scrap I had so I can refresh my brain on my ocs. Enjoy <3

Emory sat on the floor by the fireplace, bundled in a blanket. They were surprised to find themselves here. They guessed Athena truly felt bad for them. Well, not only did she force them into freezing water, she also nearly drowned them. Twice. They flinched at the very thought of it. 

They flinched again when they noticed Athena walking up to them. She had a small smile on her face as she sat down. She had a bowl and spoon in her hand. It was oatmeal. Of course. She picked up a spoonful and held it up to Emory. They leaned away from it, unsure of the gesture. Was there something wrong with the oatmeal? Why was she feeding it to them? Usually, she’d just hand them the bowl and leave. But she was…feeding them? 

Hesitating, Emory reached for the spoon. Athena frowned and grabbed their chin, forcing their mouth open before feeding them the oatmeal. Emory leaned back, tasting for anything strange. When they realized nothing was wrong with it, another spoonful was held up to them. Emory sat in confusion as Athena fed them. They decided that maybe this was one of the things she was going to be gentle about. Once they were done, she left and came back empty handed. She sat in the same spot she was in before she walked away. She smiled softly, her hand reaching out to caress Emory’s cheek. They tried their best not to flinch. They found themself leaning closer upon feeling the warmth of her palm. However, they weren’t able to enjoy the feeling for long when her hand ran down to squeeze their throat. 

“What did I tell you would happen if you disobeyed me?” Athena grumbled in their ear. 

“That you– you would pun–punish me…” Emory gasped. 

“And what did you do?” 

“I–I disobeyed you… I’m sorry! I–” They were dropped to the floor and immediately began taking in as much air as they possibly could. 

“It’s pathetic, Emory. Honestly.” Athena frowned down at them. “I ask you to follow simple instructions and you can’t even do that. What good are you if you can’t do that? Would you like me to get rid of you entirely?” 

“No! No, please!” 

She picked Emory up by their shirt. “Then you better start acting like it.”

What was your whump awakening? Someone mentioned theirs in the replies of my last post so I’m curious about other people’s.

Mine was when I watched The Three Musketeers and watched Mickey Mouse nearly drown. I fr fr watched that whole movie just for that one scene. That was the only reason I watched it so many times. I’m shocked no one realized it. Any content that showed a character in pain or suffering, I would eat that up. Like I’m talking jumping up and down excitedly and I was a like toddler when I did this but no one ever noticed it. It got progressively worse as I got older 😭

Back then, seeing stuff like that was rare. But now, it’s everywhere and I love that. There’s nothing like seeing the biggest, baddest character on his knees begging silently or vocally for his suffering to stop. Or the biggest, baddest character showing vulnerability in front of the people who hail him like a god or someone too high and mighty to be considered weak. Or the biggest, baddest character finally breaking after taking more torture than he could have ever imagined. Or even the sweetest, most adorable character being treated like he’s just nothing. And don’t get me started on them being an inch away from death

Is it just me or Transformers is an amazing source for whump. Every time I watch the movies, I think about that. I don’t know if that’s just me or… 😭

To add to it, they sprinkle whump tropes into the movies that gives instant whumperflies. It’s the perfect inspiration. Especially for team whump.
