The same people who are (rightly) saying the war on drugs is a failure are trying to start a war on guns. The same people who give guns to foreign terrorists want to take yours away. The same people who demonize the police as racists and murderers want to make them the only armed people in society. These people are fucking retarded.

Tomorrow the Georgia state legislature is going to pass HB859 and it will be sent to the Senate for approval, where it will most likely pass and the be signed by Governor Deal. I love that my store has finally realized that weapon permit holders are not the problem, we're a solution.

To be quite frank I am not sure I can be wholeheartedly behind this ruling by SCOTUS regarding Gay Marriage and the 14th Amendment. The wording in the fourteenth Amendment in question in this ruling is,
No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
I say this because I do not believe the legal justification is particularly strong. When a 5-4 majority makes a decision then it was probably better done by the legislature due to the permanence and clarity of such laws. I also believe that such a decision is better left to the states to decide on their own, but that’s less relevant in this case.
While I am quite content with the end, I am not particularly fond of the means.
On the other hand though, this decision can be used to help push against draconian gun laws in many states. If the state cannot deny individuals life, liberty, property, or equal protection without due process. Considering gun rights are explicitly guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, we may see this decision being used in states such as Illinois or California where their “May issue” status with permits may be attacked as denying individuals their rights without due process. I can’t wait to see the anger from leftists when their judicial activism backfires.
