Y’ALL THEY DID IT AGAIN
Science dictates that should the holy Tori/Mamo/Higuchi trifecta come together in the same room, wonders shall happen - and happen, they did
This took place during Vesperia’s 10th Anniversary Party back in september 2018. The crew sat down for a Q&A with special guest Yoshito Higuhi (ToV’s chief director), and a fan’s question about the annonymous love letter in Flynn’s room came up. Basically, Yuri was in fact brought up as a likely candidate by none other than Mamo (Flynn’s VA) himself, followed by a good chunk of the cast. Istg these 3 are the gift that just keeps on giving.
Translation under the cut (note: this proved a lot tougher to translate since it’s a verbal, naturally fast conversation and it may still have some errors, but I had this proofread twice so please believe this is the very best and most accurate result we came to)
Tori (Yuri): The letter sealed with a heart in Flynn Scifo’s office, who is it from and what’s written on it?
Mori (Rita): Wait, there’s something like that?! What is it?!
Higuchi: You’re asking now?
Ishii (Repede): Ah, isn’t it from her - the vice captain?
Mai/Mori: Sodia!
Higuchi: Ah, Sodia.
Takepon (Raven): Sodia isn’t that kinda type, though.
Tori: Yeah, there’s a heart on it, you know. A heart!
Takepon: Sodia wouldn’t deliver something with a heart!
Higuchi: Yeah, she wouldn’t, since it’s a letter sealed with a heart.
Mori: Then who is it?
Mamo (Flynn): Wait, but…but it’s a very important issue then! Is there someone?
Higuchi: There is.
Mamo: THERE IS?
Higuchi: Well, same as the person playing him, Flynn is popular, so…
Mamo: So it’s a fan letter? From a citizen?
Higuchi: Well, as for who specifically it was from, you see-
Mamo: From the people?
Everyone: (Laughs) Wow, isn’t that cocky.
Higuchi: Anyway— I wonder if it’s okay that I say this but—um, anyway if I were asked who it is from, truth is I don’t know. I’m sorry. I don’t know, but when we first made the game—there were skits in the game right? Well we kind of only had the general ideas and plans for what we’d do with them, and how many of them we were going to do. That heart-sealed letter was also included in the skit pile, and supposedly Flynn was going to have some sort of love affair.
Mamo: So it is a love affair!
Higuchi: Well, it’s a heart so—
Mamo: Eh? [With] which one?
Higuchi: Huh? Which one what?
Mamo: Estelle? Yuri? Which one?
Mori: Yuri? That’d be hilarious!
Tori: Well surely, you know, [the answer] might change after! (T/N: depending on who it’s from)
Mamo: Right? It might change!
Mai (Estelle): That’s true! There might be a change!
Mamo: That’s an important matter, right?!
Mori: No but it’d bad if it were from Estelle, right? Taking their status into account.
Mamo: It’s like, which one’s the heroine, really?
Mai: Right?
Mamo: I’ll fight for it! (T/N: the heroine title)
Higuchi: Technically it was never decided the letter’s from a girl, right?
Mamo: That’s true!
Higuchi: Either way, we were supposed to talk about what to do with the letter but it ended up as a leftover easter egg.
Tori: Ah, so only the letter remained.
Mamo: May we ask what was going to be inside originally, though? Or was there nothing-
Higuchi: Ah, yeah, it was still completely empty. We were like ‘Ok well we’ll have to figure it out from here!’ but ran out of time.
Mamo: Ah, I see…
Tori: In any case, Flynn would treat it with care regardless who it’s from, right?
Higuchi: Well, whichever conclusion you land on-
Mamo: Since there’s a heart on it, [the letter] might be from Yuri!
Higuchi: That’s the conclusion you came to?
Tori: No matter what you wanna turn it that way, huh.
