The SugaKookie Storyline Theory: HYYH to Love Yourself Posters

This is a theory post, soo… of course, long post warning, really long post. Sorry.
I won’t be including too many symbolisms and stick mainly to the scenes and those needed for the story line. This will probably feel like reading fic, well, coz basically, this is kind of a fic anyway. Soo… without further ado…

The SugaKookie Story: A Theory

by: Sugasuite

In my opinion, SugaKookie showed that they are each other’s Demian and Sinclair the most. The way they were both struggling but were supporting each other and watching over the other was very evident. To Yoongi, he is Sinclair and Kookie is his Demian, his companion to self discovery. And Kookie is the same way with Yoongi.

Yoongi had a frustration, his music. We know little about his back story before he met the other boys, but we see this in First Love. His drinking may have been a coping mechanism for this.

Jungkook seemed like he was a run-away. Unlike Tae, we don’t know his family situation, but we do see him wandering the streets in I Need U like it was something that he was so used to doing.

I think best way to tell this story is by showing their relationship via their videos.

Prologue:

The prologue video cemented the Sugakookie relationship. We can see that Yoongi looked at Jungkook in a special way and seemed to treat him like a real younger brother.

And to Jungkook, Yoongi was a specially beloved hyung.

We know from the behind the scenes of the shoot that Yoongi was sort of an alcoholic who probably fought off his jitters when he was stopping himself from drinking by playing with his lighter.

The Fire MV also gave us a peek into Yoongi’s alcoholism.

Jungkook, on the other hand, also watched over Yoongi. The dongsaeng was hoping that he could help his hyung curb the addiction.

Run:

The Run MV, I believe precludes the I Need U MV. At least for this story line. When the RUN MV was released, they did mention that we will better understand the I Need U MV.

Their fight in Run was the turning point in their relationship. Kookie wanted so desperately to help Yoongi change, but Yoongi was a hyung and there was little that he felt he could do to control the other’s decisions.

All that pent up rage and his want to save Yoongi led to this scene….

And Kookie being and feeling helpless and alone…

I Need U + Wings Teasers:

This MV I believe picks up after the fight Suga and Kookie had. We see Kookie’s shirt hanging from Yoongi’s wall, which may signify that they did live together for a time or that Kookie stayed there often.

Kookie is seen roaming the streets alone.

and getting into a fight. Well, more like getting beaten up, actually.

On the other hand, Yoongi misses whoever used to lay beside him.

I need to insert the Wings teasers here, because it gives us clues as to which tragedy happened first.

In First Love, it was a car crash that led to the piano burning.

In Begin, while Jungkook was sleeping (or unconscious) he dreamt of a piano burning and started to panic and wake up, meaning that he was already recuperating from the accident when the fire happened.

He was in disbelief as the portrait burned and he cried out for his hyung. But like before, there was nothing he could do to stop him.

Jungkook’s accident was a turning point for Yoongi.

He realized how bad his addiction has gotten. In his panic in thinking that Kookie died because of him (or just the thought that the younger was severely injured or hurt because of his actions), he set himself on fire. He believes he just brings bad luck to people near him anyway.

But Kookie survived. We see this in Begin, Jungkook growing wings like the sparrow hawk. The bird represents a desire to break free, to be independent. The big sparrow in the end indicates that Kookie has reached within himself the part of him that longs to be set free and take control.

And apparently, somehow, Yoongi survived too.

I Need U Jpn MV:

Japan MVs (at least for the HYYH era) were more conceptual, giving us a peek into their inner thoughts as opposed to sharing part of the story line.

In the I Need U Jpn MV, Yoongi can be seen in front of a big framed flower. Unlike the other boys who had flowers around them, Yoongi was aware that the blooming youth people talked about for their age was not real, but he still wanted to preserve that beautiful view of youth for Kookie.

Kookie was in a room of blooming flowers, but they were trapped with him. He felt trapped and helpless. He felt like he was being led into one direction and that whatever bloom he wanted for his youth, he would not be capable of achieving it.

Kookie burns the flower, his youth has gone to flames. The flower in the frame burns, and Yoongi realizes that the beautiful youth he wanted to protect for the younger was now gone. There was no way he could save Kookie’s youth from the horrible tragedies it was suffering.

We also see another symbolism of Kookie’s youth going up in flames in the Fire MV, the bike he was riding.

Run Jpn MV:

The Run Japan MV showed the characters biggest regrets. Yoongi was surrounded by a broken shards of glass. That was the moment he regretted the most, his fight with Kookie.

Kookie is shown holding a paper flower. He then tightens his grip on it and the flower breaks. After this we see changes happening in his hyungs’ scenes. His regret was his lack of control on everything that was happening.

And Yoongi ’s gut-feel guilt was right. Jungkook did blame him for what happened to him.

Blood Sweat & Tears Kr MV:

This MV showed Kookie succumbing to the temptation. After his accident and his realization that he could be his own person, he somehow went to the same path he wanted to stop his hyung from going.

Yoongi, on the other hand has started to regain his old self. He plays the piano again.

Most of the MV showed that Yoongi was also trying to help another dongsaeng, Jimin. Maybe to try and make up for his guilt with Kookie? But anyway, let’s focus on Sugakookie.

Blood Sweat & Tears Jpn MV:

In the Wings Era, they mixed it up a bit. They put the bigger story line in the Jpn MV.

In Begin we saw Kookie grow wings, but BTS Jpn starts with him waking up from a blood stained bed. It seems like his wings were cut off.The initial freedom and freewill no longer a positive thing and something else was taking hold of him, his addiction.

A “fallen angel”, he fell into the vice too. It was pretty evident that he was spiraling down the same road that Yoongi went.

Yoongi has regained much of himself once more, standing by his dream, the piano.

But Yoongi was still in a dark place as he was aware that Kookie was also succumbing to his previous vice.

Yoongi wanted to help his younger friend,

but he already lost Kookie’s trust and his moral ascendancy over him and the matter at hand.

Love Yourself Posters:

My theory, is that Kookie went into the hospital after he collapsed in BST Jpn MV.

Yoongi was there all this time, waiting for Kookie to get better. But he was still not ready to face the younger due to his ever present guilt.

Kookie, however, seems ready to forgive Yoongi. He missed his brother and longed for him. He might even be ready to ask for an apology for blaming the other for everything. This could be the truth that he wants to share and can’t say.

Yoongi however is not ready. He still blames himself for what happened to Kookie. His “non poveto dire la verita”. He still hasn’t forgiven himself for everything.

Disclaimer: As with all theories, I may be wrong. But this is one of the most coherent storylines in their series. Next would probably be VMon. That one is pretty clear too.

THEORY TIME: The Bangtan Journey - OT7 (1/8)

In all honesty, it felt like I was writing a fic. Because come on, these characterizations and story lines presented to us was legit a fic written by BigHit.
Disclaimer: I will be reblogging this with the necessary gifs and images as receipts to keep everyone entertained. But for now, I just want this out of my system.

The HYYH trilogy in itself has been a somber coming of age story telling. Gruesome to the point that a lot of ARMY believe one or more members might be dead, fantastical to the point that a lot also believe that the story telling includes that of the supernatural sense (from angels and demons, to Neverland, to time travel and parallel universes), and yet it feels hopeful with a sense of redemption and growth.

Bangtan never hid the fact that their music grew and matured not only as they did but to mirror what people our age and in our generation might be going through. The sentiments were universal enough to bring in fans from all over the world, finding comfort and healing through the music and concepts.

Without further ado. I share with you guys my Theory for the Bangtan Journey. Mind you, this will be long. I hope you bear with me. I will be posting it in parts as I tell the story of each character.

In all honesty, I don’t ascribe to the supernatural characterizations or literal concept interpretations. By my understanding, the story lines of the characters are all progressive and it just so happens that some music videos (or some parts of them) are more conceptual than literal. They had to exaggerate the situations and characterizations to drive a point. You have to remember, these are music videos and they have to tell a story in less than 10 minutes. They have to keep a concept going while maintaining visual artistry.

Note: This is why I prefer writing concept theories like my Spring Day MV Theory. But this story line has been nagging at me, so here it goes.

Let me tell you a story about a group of 7 boys and their journey towards becoming men.

If you were one of the lucky few who were able to see the Wings Tour Live, then you would have been able to see the Outro VCR. It basically sums up their journey and it poses this question.

How many roads does a boy have to walk to become a man?

Their story start with the 7 boys meeting in one classroom (Red Bullet VCR). They were ready to follow the customary steps that a boy had to take to grow up and be a man. Learn basic lessons at home. Learn more in school. But let’s take a step back.

They started to question what dreams they truly had (No More Dream). Whether the road often traveled was the path they had to take to reach the conclusion they wanted for themselves. They bonded together and decided that the dreams they had were bigger and not necessarily confined in the four walls of their classrooms. (We Are Bulletproof pt2 and N.O.)  They have dubbed themselves 2 Kool 4 Skool. Not necessarily a message the society and adults would want the youth to ascribe to. But the message will remain hidden if you do not choose to listen.

In the Red Bullet VCR the boys decided that the system was too much. They walked out of their classrooms, book bags in hand and hung out in an old room as they built their dream for music, playing the piano, listening to booming music. But unbeknownst to the 6, one of them was actually more in tune with what is to come. He knew what lie ahead for the boys who were just starting to build their dreams. Jin. He was older and therefore was a step ahead of everyone in the group in the path of living out their youth.

Society has already played with Jin and it was his role to usher these boys into the ascribed path too. But he decided to let these boys live towards their dreams and just watch over them instead.

Their story takes a side step as the boys slowly learn about love and hormones. But these kinds of urges and heartaches were their first steps into understanding a small part of the world, a necessary part of growing up. (Boy in Luv, Danger, War of Hormones, Just One Day)

As they grew together, their bonds deepened. Slowly their hearts beat as one. Seven boys with one heart. In every one heart were 7 boys. (As mentioned in the Wings Outro VCR. So, No. It is not necessarily schizophrenia.) They loved each other as brothers, showing support, giving comfort. This is where the HYYH Trilogy enters. The most beautiful moments of their lives.

They created their own little world, their own Neverland. A place where no worries seemed to touch them, as long as they were together. Their Neverland was an old abandoned pool, a beach, a field by the cliff, a dark tunnel. It took the form of raggedy clustered chairs, a train yard, a rusty pier, a dingy apartment. It was like a dream, just living and having fun. Their energetic youth. And they kept holding on to the dream that none of it would end.

But life is such and such is life. Reality will always catch up. Their times together started getting muddied by their individual troubles, because in truth, in life, one has to make a lot of difficult decisions alone. Their group started splitting up, each one finding comfort and solace in one other rather than 6. They each found their Demian, their soul brother ushering and helping them in their journey.

Their little dream world that one started and built for all of them to live in, collapsing like a fragile house of cards due to the action of one. The house topples and the pieces slowly collapse. They fight their demons alone. They try to grow and move past the temptations while slowly realizing how hard it truly is to fight and so some of them eventually gave in.

But the one who started it all, the one who refused that their hopes be crushed by the norms still watched over them. He realized belatedly that he had to act, and in his attempt to save each one from their self destruction he gets hurt. This one arc angel of sorts who watched his brothers fall.

This is where the story has ended so far. But as the Outro VCR stated, the boy continues to walk on.
