As soon as Aloy's feet hit the top stair, all she can smell is garlic bread. Overpowering, but in a good way--a way that makes her realize she hasn't eaten since Alva shoved a peeled banana into her hand between two undergrad exams that afternoon. Her stomach growls all the way down the staircase and into the kitchen, and she hopes one of the moms set a timer so the bread doesn't burn under the broiler this time.
"Hey, kiddo," Elisabet greets her, not bothering to look up from the baking sheet she's pulling from the oven. The halved loaves are, thankfully, not burnt. "Have the books started to read you back yet?"
"Oh, don't tease her, love." Gaia's voice is light despite the scolding, effortless from years and years of mediating their playful banter. Her table setting is, as always, meticulous. "I know you remember how it is."
"I was just getting caught up for today," Aloy says, leaning her elbows on the countertop and reaching for a fresh slice. Elisabet unceremoniously swats at her hand with the spatula. "I had to grade Paleolithic Archaeology exams today, on top of running all the Scantrons for Intro to Anthro. I didn't get a chance to sit down with my own work until I was home."
Elisabet grins and lets her take the bread from the sheet. "Gotta earn that stipend somehow."

So when Elisabet Sobeck talks to GAIA in the hologram recordings you can find all over Zero Dawn HQ, GAIA appears as like… a ball of light. But in other parts of the game, GAIA has a very human face.
My question is, did Elisabet design that face while working on GAIA, like “No, you guys, no, no, no, listen to me, I’m an expert on AI. She needs to be gorgeous. It’s vital to the survival of the project. Vital.”
Or did GAIA do it herself.
Did Elisabet drag herself out of bed one morning and this beautiful holographic woman pops up on the display like “Good Morning Dr. Sobeck,” (or “Good Morning Elisabet” depending on how long they’ve been working together at this point) and does she squint at it wondering if she’s still asleep for a minute or two like “…GAIA, what the fu-”

No, Elisabet, I know you too well.
Decided to update with a WIP since I’ve been off the grid with HZD stuff.
The short story: I went through a break up, got a transfer to a cool city, moved, started my new job, went on a vacation in Japan, and then moved again.
I’m still very much on the Lis/Gaia hype train, and now that I’m finally settled, I can start making art again.
