The Doctor was here entirely against her will.
“You know you’re thanking me for this,” Jack whispered to the Time Lady, who scowled and shoved him away.
“Shut up.”
Jack grinned and hurried down to the water, where Rose kept running to the water then shrieking and jumping back when she felt how cold it was. This entire, stupid thing had been Jack’s idea, and the Doctor already hated it. She hadn’t even tried to put on anything even slightly beach appropriate, much to Rose’s and Jack’s disappointments.
Rose, meanwhile, had chosen the tiniest bikini she could find. Which was what the Doctor was supposed to be thanking Jack for.
He just better watch where he puts his hands, the Doctor thought vindictively, then immediately pretended like she hadn’t. What did she care what Jack and Rose did? It did’t matter to her. Not at all. Not one bit. Really.
Not at all.

Billie started asking when they first got the script.
“Are you gonna say it?” she smirked, beaming at him over the stack of crisp white pages.
“Hm, I dunno,” he replied, eyes returning to his lines.
She asked again a few days later, over pints at the pub.
“Has Russell said if he wants you to say it?” she smiled, apples of her cheeks rosy from the booze.
“He says it’s up to me,” David muttered, taking a long pull of his beer.
Billie tried again the next morning, legs tangled in his sheets.
“But you must have an idea of if you want to say it,” she bit her lip, sunlight glistening off her tousled hair.
“I’m going to see what feels right in the moment,” David yawned, rolling her onto her back.
She made a last-ditch attempt that afternoon, while the makeup artist dabbed at her face.
“Just tell me, I don’t want to be surprised on camera,” she peered at his reflection in the mirror.
“Well the sound guy said the mic wouldn’t even pick it up, what with the wind, so there’s no point really,” he said, finishing the dregs of his coffee.
The next question she asked him was from Rose.
“And you, Doctor? What was the end of that sentence?”
Her hair lashed at his face as he leaned down to whisper in her ear.
“I love you.”
When she kissed him, it wasn’t as Rose.

I just read this entire convo and all I have to say is Y E S!!!
The Doctor and Rose renting a cottage for a week in October, experiencing all the best parts of autumn. Cool, crisp days, brightly coloured leaves, the lovely autumny scent carried on the breeze, and even a day that’s a bit grey and damp where they just stay inside by the fire reading.
You guys. I’m going to write this.
Apparently I have zero self-control.
