I haven't seen anyone talk about what's going on in Córdoba

Half of my home province is on fire right now.

^that article is already a bit outdated, since the fires have spread all the way to La Granja in the past two days and it threatens to keep going. But it's hard to find any English sources on this.

The causes for the fires are officially unknown, but the theories range from accidental to purposely started by people who want to buy the land and build private neighborhoods. The last one is plausible since most of the fires have affected national reserves who previously couldn't be sold. A law that prevents the land affected from being sold is currently in the works.

Most of the people working to extinguish the fires are voluntaries, since the government refuses to give away more funds. The province is working to have this be considered a national emergency. The voluntaries are working tirelessly with very little support and supplies, and the supplies they are given, like helicopters, tend to arrive late.

I grew up in a Greek Orthodox church and this was such a common practice there, but obviously most Americans find it very strange. When you're greeting a friend you'd kiss them on both cheeks, or even on the mouth, and then start talking. It's something I grew up with but I'm curious how many other people consider it normal, and what cultures do this.

-over 200 songs were banned

-over 600 books were banned

-over 200 foreign movies and 130 local ones were banned and hundreds more were cut or censored

-over 14000 conscripts were sent to malvinas

-649 of them were killed and 350 committed suicide upon return

-at least 30000 brothers and sisters were detained, tortured and disappeared

-490 people were born in captivity. only 137 have been recovered

-at least 500000 argentines were exiled

-the first state to recognize videla as president was the usa

-the imf approved a loan for 110 million dollars to the junta the very same day of the coup, even before any state recognized it as government
