Being a fan of Stranger Things means knowing that there are way too many characters now but also not wanting to get rid of any of them because you love them all dearly.

#robin max erica and murray are such great characters#if the duffers have issues character writing is not one of them#however there are so many plotlines and so many characters that are getting overshadowed#and also it's so difficult to write that many plots#however i also love all the new additions so#stranger things#byler#robin buckley#max mayfield#erica sinclair#murray bauman#eddie munson#and when i say overshadowed i mainly mean jonathan#but other characters too

I'm so sick of the Ronance tag on ao3. Half of it is Steddie fics. Then once you filter those out, 1.1K of it is That One Writer (you know the one). Then once you filter those out, you are left with a ton of incorrectly tagged anonymous (just in case you wanted to mute the author) short fics that are either by AI or blatantly plagiarized from Steddie authors with the names and pronouns changed. So you then filter out fics under 1K words, burying ficlets by real authors. And it's so exhausting because I'm struggling to find new fic, not because they're not being written, but because of how the Ronance tag is just spam and men.

Highlights of the new Robin comic!

A commentary on hiding parts of your identity to fit in (which I relate to on both a lesbian and autistic level), using the imagery of an egg never getting to crack into the beautiful rainbow world that chick belongs in. I think this applies to Will and Mike very much too from a queer perspective, but also to a lot of the characters who are outcasts for some reason or another so feel like they cannot ever truly be themselves:

This response is quite long, hence the read more! I kinda got off track and it goes into a discussion of canon vs headcanon and speaks a bit about Byler too.

If I were to be generous to Ronance antis, I think a lot of people are frustrated that there is a new canon bisexual character who's been introduced to the show but a lot of the fandom are ignoring her for a headcanon. And in general, members of this fandom and Ronance shippers are quite harsh against Rovickie and I don't think they'd be as harsh if it was an m/f pairing. Because it's the only canon gay pairing so far (I know it hasn't happened yet but it clearly will), people are expecting it to be this perfect romance like Jopper or Lumax but in eight minutes of screen time which is just impossible.
