Dustin is to Steddie as Max is to Ronance
Being a fan of Stranger Things means knowing that there are way too many characters now but also not wanting to get rid of any of them because you love them all dearly.
The dynamic of Willow, Tara and Dawn but make it Robin, Nancy and Max. You agree. Reblog.
totally random question, but in a genderbent au, what do you think everybody's names would be?
Wow I'm actually not sure. I've never read any gender bent ST fic. Gender bent Will Byers should be called "me" except there's no chance my straight best friend was into me /j. Jokes aside, I'll try to come up with some good names that are similar.
- Will Byers (why are there so little W names for girls?) - Wilhelmina Byers for accuracy, Winnifred for vibes. I have been suggested Willow in the replies and that's much better than both of those.
- Mike Wheeler - Michelle Wheeler, although I prefer Meredith (sounds less like Mike though)
- Dustin Henderson - Daisy Henderson
- Eleven stays the same cause she's named after a number. Maybe Eli for short and then John as their actual name.
- Lucas Sinclair - Luna Sinclair (sidenote; sapphic Henclair called Daisy and Luna could be good)
- Erica Sinclair - Ethan Sinclair
- Max(ine) Mayfield - Max Mayfield
- Johnathan Byers - Joanne Byers
- Nancy Wheeler - Nathan Wheeler
- Steve Harrington - Stella Harrington
- Robin Buckley - Robin again
- Eddie Munson - Ellie Munson
- Argyle Lastname - Anita maybe? Or Ana?
- Joyce Byers - James Byers
- Jim Hopper - Joan Hopper
Hope this was fun enough! Lmk if I missed anybody. Thanks for the ask.
Idk if you remember but in s2 Mr Clarke did a lesson to the kids on Phineas Gage (a pole went through his head and he switched personalities) and it never popped up again and I wonder if you think it will pop up later cause they said that s5 is going to contain content cut from s2
To be honest, no I don't think so BUT I can and will discuss S5 implications anyways (: for context (I'm aware anon added this too), Phineas Gage was one of the first times in psychology people started to figure out brain trauma could be linked to personality change.
I think the purpose of that scene was for two reasons. Firstly, the idea of something happening to your brain leading to a rapid personality switch even though physically you are the same was probably foreshadowing Will's personality switch when flayed. And secondly, I think it might have been showing the idea that we are always adapting to survive which they spoke about later to foreshadow Will having the flayer dust burned out of him, although I think it's more likely just the first point.
If we're thinking about later seasons, I think the theme of brain trauma (physically) having an impact on the purpose has kind of continued, like Eleven in S4. However, I wonder if this is going to be more relevant to Max. The physical trauma of her injuries and the damage to her brain could be blamed for her sudden personality change when she wakes up. Perhaps a way to get Mr Clarke involved (I know they'd use an actual doctor or a Hawkins lab person but I miss him).
Don't know if this makes sense, thanks for the ask anon (:
Do you think Max will wake up before the time jump or after? I think she's probably going to wake up pretty early in the season because they raised Sadie's (and the rest of the main cast) salary to 7 million per episode I think? And I don't think they'll really make her sleep most of the season LMAO (it's a silly reason but still).
Have a great day.
One slight correction: it's seven million for the full season not per episode, meaning they're getting paid nearly a million per episode which is still a ton. So yes, odds are she's waking up early. I think it would actually be a good idea to have her waking up be the start of the time skip to give an excuse to gather everyone in one location regardless of where they live or if they're at college. But I doubt she'd wake up before the time skip because she'd be better utilized after being in a coma for years, with no idea if she'd ever wake up only to be hit with the gut punch that she is effectively brain dead and doesn't remember anyone.
On the other hand, maybe she could be 'awake' but only as a vessel for Vecna, but the issue with that is that she'd have to be doing something during the time loop. Side note: her being a vessel for Vecna would not be a surprise to me, and I fully subscribe to the belief that Master of Puppets, a song in which someone is blinded and their memories twisted into a dark version until they obey the master, could be foreshadowing her being under Vecna's control. However, that's a whole other post (if anyone's interested).
TL;DR I think Max waking up will trigger the time skip but I doubt she'll be awake for the two year (or so) gap between episodes.

Hi I'm thinking of doing some more character analyses like my Mike, Will and Max ones. They take me a long time and are several thousand words hence why I stopped but I don't have that much content to make so I think I might start up again. I have some old (like several months old) asks for Eleven, Dustin and Robin, but if anyone has any requests please send it to me! I'll probably prioritize new ones anyways so the anons who sent them can read them. I'd love to look at some, in my opinion, underrated characters too, like Johnathan or Lucas. Or overhated ones like Nancy. Or big progression ones like Steve. Actually anyone. I could talk forever about anyone.
You can also ask for a specific interpretation in the analysis, eg a gay Mike analysis (see index post). This is less about canon and more of a long breakdown of their character arc and the direction I think they'll go in next. Thanks in advance!
gen/ why do you think midleven were cute in earlier seasons but not later on (based on unpopular opinion post)
This post turned out way longer than I intended and I don't want to seem like some crazy anti m*leven person because I'm more just trying to analyze it from a media analysis perspective and explain my issues with the ship. No disrespect to m*leven shippers and you guys can feel free to respectfully criticize this and debunk my arguments, the whole point of media analysis is that people can disagree and discuss their opinions (:
I think it's for a factor of reasons. I think it's because they never really effectively developed post puppy love phase, how the conflict isn't very good to me, how it seems like Eleven isn't ready for a relationship yet, how it feels like Mike views her only for her powers, how it should've been like Lumax and how good Byler is. No disrespect to the shippers, but I personally think it was cute but never lived up to that potential and I don't want them to be endgame.
On one hand, the puppy love or love in childhood trope can be really sweet and I think their little pecks and how much they really liked and valued each other beyond romance was really sweet to see. And then as Eleven left, we got emo Mike and we saw how much she meant to him, making that reunion really hit hard. Especially that scene with Hopper. So when you get to see them finally be happy together, it makes you feel happy because you know how much they care about each other and you know how much they've been through. It does really feel like they love each other. But then later seasons kind of ruin that for me.
My theory for why I stopped liking it is the reason for why I liked it in the first place; it seems immature. It starts as these sweet kids discovering their feelings, getting in their first relationship and just loving someone else for the first time. But then it never grows past that phase. I think that they worked best separated so once they got together it was satisfying but then once they were an official couple, they had to create conflict in order to add tension and stakes to their relationship.
Like in S3, the whole conflict between Mike and El is what made me turn against them as a couple. They made it just how obviously Eleven relies on relationships with other people by having them separate. When Eleven was independent and broken up, it was the happiest she'd ever been in the show, in my opinion. I really think that single Eleven is much better than her in a relationship. And that's not me trying to be disrespectful or patronising and she's allowed to want to be in a relationship, I just think she needs a period of self discovery. Hell, if they are endgame, I'd like them to have some separation over the time skip and then get back together at the end to resolve this issue.
And in S4, if Mike genuinely does love Eleven, I feel like they decided that he needed a big love confession and then worked backwards from there. Because I get Mike is scared Eleven doesn't need him but I don't like the conclusion being that she actually does. She relies on him way too much. That's not a good thing because, as aforementioned, she needs to be more independent. I do think that's the reason why she's avoiding him after he confessed his love though (so she doesn't have to rely on him or put him at risk). Also the fact that the whole love confession was based off of Will's feelings and that being what ultimately encourages Mike feels like odd writing (unless Byler).
Also, it makes it seem like Mike only loves her for her powers. I don't think this is the intention whatsoever, but it's something I've heard a lot of people say. He says I love you before when she does have powers but he can't after she loses them. He constantly calls her a superhero and in his confession to her he goes on about how powerful she is and how she is capable of tons, whereas I feel like the point shouldn't be that she's powerful or that she needs him; it should be that they love each other and that being together makes them better.
I'm going to use two ships as a comparison, one canon, one not. Firstly Lumax. I can't remember if it was Caleb or Sadie who said this, but Lucas and Max have such a more mature relationship than Mike and Eleven's. In S2, Lucas and Max fell into the aforementioned puppy love trope and did it well. In S3 they weren't constantly running off to make out, they were making fun of each other and having tons of mini break ups. It felt childish yet mature.
They don't have to constantly reaffirm their love for each other or make out and they don't have massive dramatic fights. They're just teenagers who love each other. And then in S4, we saw how depressed Max was and how Lucas gave her space and yet never gave up on her. The whole time we knew they loved each other. I think that they could've gone a similar direction to them with Mike and Eleven by having the conflict be less because of their relationship drama and more becahse of personal issues and I think they could've developed their puppy love like this too.
Next, Byler. Because it seems like Mike doesn't like Eleven, it feels like it would make a lot of sense for them to make a kind of love triangle between Mike, Will and Eleven. The best time to do this would be at the start of S4, but the point more is that I think it would've been better. If you combine Mike's inability to deal with his feelings, Mike's inability to tell his girlfriend that he loves her, Will's feelings for Mike and Eleven's need for independence, to me the best outcome would be Will and Mike in a relationship where they don't need to constantly make out all the time to prove their love and how they understand they love each other and single but happy Eleven.
If I were to have them be endgame, I would want them to break up before the time skip. Eleven acts odd and distant but it's really because she's scared that if she relies on Mike, Vecna will hurt him. During the time skip, we see Eleven be happy but there's still this distance between Mike and Eleven. And then they'd get closer as some imminent threat draws them together. Eleven eventually confesses her love to Mike, but she no longer needs him. They kiss and are happy. I think there's a high likelihood one of them could die too which could make it even more bittersweet.
Sorry that this was so long! Again, no hate to M*leven shippers and feel free to criticize this opinion. This is my takeaway from the show and as long as you're respectful, I don't mind reblogs or asks debunking this. I want to actually have my opinions challenged sometimes, especially when it comes to this ship war. But overall, that's my feelings on why I no longer ship Mike and Eleven. Thanks for the ask!
Hello! It's the person who accidentally asks super long asks without meaning to again (see: boobies scene as an option in the poll ask)
Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought it was lowkey weird to see it there. Maybe they always have one out of nowhere option that no one was asking for each week or maybe not. Either way tho the writers seem surprised it got close to winning, as everyone else was too.
Lumax won tho, FINALLYYYY
And for the main purpose of this ask, thanks for answering my ask!
Thank god Lumax won, I love platonic Stobin but why would you want to read that scene? What would it add? Anyways who cares, we're getting Lucas and Max passing notes, peak adorableness. Thanks for the ask and you're welcome for me answering the last one haha (:
do you think we’ll see Eddie again in s5? i feel like the Kas theory has legs tbh
I mean... Maybe? I really don't want him to be alive, sorry. Will, Brenner, Max, Eleven and Hopper have all had fake deaths and it gets to the point where it feels like characters are just immune from dying. Especially main characters. So bringing back Eddie would not be a good move. Bringing him back as a zombie? That could be cool. Especially if Dustin has to kill him. Yes I am thinking of that one scene with Georgie and Bill in It (if you know, you know).
I'm not sure how I feel about the Kas theory because to be honest, I feel like it applies more to Max than Eddie. A zombie who's body is controlled by Vecna? I think that's much more likely Max as Eddie is dead whereas Max was revived however Vecna absorbed her consciousness effectively making her a zombie and possibly puppet. Also the lyrics to Master of Puppets foreshadow Max being Vecna'd (twisting your mind and smashing your dreams, blinded by me you can't see a thing) in my opinion but they could foreshadow her being a puppet like Kas. But somehow, she gets her memories back and is able to betray Vecna. Also maybe losing the consciousness of a person weakens him enough for him to be defeated. For Buffy fans, it's like Glory and Tara.
So overall, Eddie as Kas? Maybe, but Max makes more sense to me. Eddie being alive? No. Eddie being an emotionless zombie or a vision? Absolutely.
Thanks for the ask (:
An anon requested a drawing from my friend of Lumax fan art with Lucas and Max in her wheelchair. Unfortunately it won't show up in the tags, hence why I'm trying a text post format! <3 hope you like it!
By the way, my friend is still taking requests if anyone is interested!
