What do you think about autistic eleven? I headcanon it but people are really against it given her upbringing.

I think there's more than just her upbringing to possibly indicate that Eleven is autistic.

  • She has a safe food (eggos).
  • She likes routine and promises and takes this very literally. She gets very distressed when Hopper comes home late because he promised he wouldn't.
  • She gets overstimulated in the roller rink when she is being surrounded by a crowd and is covering her ears in order to block out the sound.
  • She has issues with emotional regulation and has very angry outbursts which could be read as meltdowns, especially the one in S2 with Hopper.
  • She is very morally absolute with her focus on promises and lying. She doesn't really understand nuance when people don't tell her the exact truth.
  • I think her whole monster/superhero thing is an extension of this moral absolutism. She can't understand the nuances of this stuff. She is either a good person or a bad person and there is no in between.
  • She has issues with speaking and communication. Other people from the lab, like Kali, were able to pick up on words. Even people in the lab were able to speak better it seems as shown in S4. She didn't speak very much and when she did it was limited, hence why Hopper used to give her a word a day.
  • As well as that, her being a social outcast also happened in the lab, differentiating her from the other lab kids. She also beat 002 when there probably was some sort of unspoken agreement that she wasn't meant to do that, but she's unable to pick up on social rules unless explicitly communicated.
  • She's very expressive and struggles with hiding her true emotions.
  • She doesn't really understand fashion or trends and so she wears more unique combinations of clothing.
  • She repeats words and phrases from other people frequently like "bitchin", "friends don't lie", "dump your ass", the do you knock scene with Max and stuff like that. This is called echolalia and is associated with autism.
  • When she's being bullied by Angela it's in a fake nice way. Eleven initially laughs at Angela's first comment and I believe that is because she didn't understand that she was being mean but also didn't understand why she was funny so she laughed in order to fit in without quite understanding why.

I don't think she's intended to be autistic but I do think she has a ton of autistic traits and it's no wonder people headcanon her as autistic, especially after her experiences in S4. I hope it goes without saying you can experience some of this and relate to Eleven without being autistic, I just think it's interesting to analyze her from that pov. Anyone feel free to add to this. Thanks for the ask (:

I know a bazillion people will have already pointed this out, but when in one of my thousand (exaggeration) re-watches of S1 I realized that Brenner referred to the people in the lab as Eleven's friends, but then later is confused when Mike mentioned friends. I assumed this was a mistake, but actually thinking on it more, this makes a ton of sense. Eleven was able to trust someone for the first time only for them to get shot and killed in front of her. And now she's ended up with another guy and he describes himself with the word used to describe the people hunting her down? The ones who hurt her?

So Mike telling Eleven that friends don't lie and her fixation on that was because the people in the lab therefore weren't her friends; the party was. Lucas, Dustin and Mike didn't lie to Eleven. And now she finally felt like she could trust people. That's also why she feels so betrayed when people lie to her and why she said you are just like Papa to Hopper. She associates being "good" with being honest.

Do you think Kali/008 will come back in S5? I saw a theory about her curing Max of blindness with her powers because she can make people see stuff. Not sure how I feel about that theory but I was wondering if you have any other theories about Kali

I don't know if Kali will come back in S5, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. Half of the theories about Kali (not aimed at this anon) are saying that she has to be important because it wouldn't make sense to focus an episode on a random character, but I think that the poor critical reception of that episode decreases the chances of her return and eliminates the possibility of that gang having a spin off (many people believe that episode was a back door pilot).

Personally I liked her character and what it meant for El, but I wasn't a fan of the Lost Sister episode (not a bad episode, however it's poorly placed and kills a lot of the tension) and I think Kali's mostly served her purpose for developing Eleven's powers. Still, I would enjoy seeing more of her character and I'd be pleasantly surprised if she returned. I don't really have any theories for why she'd return or what would necessitate it at the moment.

In terms of the specific theory you sent, I don't like the theory very much. First up, it would be so draining for Kali to follow around Max 24/7 and make her see stuff as she has to actively be using her powers to make you see things. I don't think Kali would sacrifice her independence and energy just so someone could see. Secondly, Max's eyes don't work so I don't know how she could make someone see out of an organ that doesn't see. To explain it better, Kali wouldn't be able to make you see out of your elbow because you can't see out of your elbow, just like Max can't see out of her eyes.

And finally, I think it would be nice for Max to end the show blind. It would be nice to have a character with a disability without treating that disability as something that needs to be solved. If you have an injury or illness you can cure then that's great, but disabled people cannot ever stop being disabled and I think it would be nice for disabled people to have a character in a major show still have a fulfilling life with a disability.

Hope this response makes sense. Thanks for the ask (:

Just found ur page lol you have some good stuff here! Anyways, for some reason i'm very scared for any of the kids in s5. Like i know and am afraid for characters like steve, but do you think the writers would kill off any of the child characters like dustin, will, lucas, eleven, mike etc? Cause i don't know how i would handle that omg

First up, glad you like my page! (: Second of all, yes they absolutely could. They're not kids anymore and even before they grew up, Eleven "died" at the end of S1. The party aren't off limits which was demonstrated by Max "dying" (the show needs to stop bringing people back haha) so it would not surprise me if any of them died. I think Eleven is at a big risk of dying as they could easily pull a Harry Potter one cannot exist without the other type of thing with Eleven and Vecna in which they're so linked that she has to die in order to kill him. Here's a quick comparison of the posters too.

In terms of the other kids, I'm less sure. I think Mike could be at risk because of the emotional impact it would have on Will, Eleven and Nancy. I would not be surprised if he would put himself at risk for his friends based off of S1, plus it was mentioned that Nancy saw his dead body in Vecna's vision that has came true so far. Dustin could be a shock death. Will could die as some kind of full circle moment as it all began with him therefore it all ends with him. I can't see Lucas or Mac dying, I honestly think they will get a happy ending together in which by defeating Vecna, Max regains her memory and she gets with Lucas. She's still blind and paralyzed, I hope!

Thanks for the ask (and the compliment) <3

Out of curiosity, there's a test called open psychometrics and it tells you which characters you're most like and you can specify franchise, so you can find your closest stranger things match like personality wise

Ok so I did the exhaustive version quiz and forgot to take screenshots. It's 120 questions so I'm not redoing it but here it is from my memory.

  1. Johnathan Byers (80%)
  2. Will Byers (78%)
  3. Eleven (74%)
  4. Joyce Byers (73%)
  5. Nancy Wheeler (68%)

I collected the Byers family like Pokémon haha. It's probably because I'm a socially awkward nerd who gets really tired from social interaction. Also I put 100% for queer which might raise some Will alarms plus I used to have a massive crush on my best friend. The quiz can't tell that but...

I relate a lot to Robin although I'm guessing she's not there because I'm very rule bound and she seems to fall into the rebellious category. The more you know. Thanks for the ask (:

Do you think Henry is Jane's dad?

UPDATE: this theory is sort of correct and sort of not! As per the stage prequel, Henry's blood was used to make super powered children by injecting it into women doing LSD experiments which took for some women and made all the 000s. This makes him El's father biologically and also makes all the 000s siblings. I'll put the original theory under the cut, but it's wrong!

Do you think Will might die in season 5? Or El? :(

I think Eleven is at a higher risk of dying because she's not "safe" anymore. They couldn't kill her off before the final season because it wouldn't make sense, but now? I wonder if they're going to pull a "one cannot exist without the other" kind of thing, like in Harry Potter. I mean look at the Volume 2 poster vs Deathly Hallows:

It feels to me like they're setting up a final confrontation between the two of them in which both of them will die. The two of them are so linked that it wouldn't surprise me if that's the root they go down. Plus this season is going full circle to S1, a season in which Eleven sacrificed herself to kill the demogorgon, so I think an Eleven death is a high likelihood.

In terms of Will, I'm less sure. I hope not, I hate seeing gay characters die again and again. He's also been through so much suffering that to me it would feel unnesessarily cruel to the audience to kill him off. But on the other hand, he does have a lot of material for Vecna to use on him so who knows. Also, he's very protective of his loved ones and he'd easily put himself at risk for them or to protect Eleven. Also, requited or not, they're going to have to address his feelings for Mike so I think more time would be devoted to that than to setting up his death. Overall though, I feel like he's less likely to die.

I'm just as clueless as the rest of you guys when it comes to the plot, but I hope my thoughts made sense. Thanks for the ask (:

Did they recotned the lab kids powers? During S2 we were led to believe that every kid had a special power given that Kali's was so different from El's. But is S4 we see all the kids training the same way and using their abilities in the same way as El.

I don't know if it's nessecarily a retcon, but it is disappointing. They never said they all had different powers, but you think that some of them would have 008 powers and some of them would have 011 powers instead of everyone except her having them, because that makes it a bit odd. Maybe there's a purpose to her have different powers but they seem to have abandoned that plotline due to the poor ratings of the Lost Sister (which was a fine plot but killed the pacing).

So it's not like they're changing anything per say and I know they all have one of 001's powers, but I kind of wish they'd spiced it up by having a mixture and then in the circle scene we could see the kids manipulating each other or something. It's a missed opportunity but I get that's it easier to give them all the same power or whatever. Thanks for the ask, anon (:

There's a trance in the snow ball from season two in volume 2. Eleven was in it in the trailer but it seems like it's going to be Max's trance. I was wondering if you had any thoughts about that

I think that the characters are going to purposefully going to go into trances so Eleven can infiltrate their minds and attack Vecna from within. A lot of characters and Byler have been tagged and that's going to become relevant in a minute; this post is gonna be a long one! Let me explain...

Spoiler warning!

I'm a fan of the Nightmare on Elm Street series and spoke about how I believed that season 4 would be heavily nightmare inspired before I watched the series. But I was looking back at the film inspiration list, and it doesn't have the first Nightmare movie; it has the third, Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. I didn't really think too much about why that is the case until this ask.

There are a few things of note about this movie. Firstly, the kids put themselves into trances to find powers and fight back against Freddie Krueger. But most importantly, the female lead (Kristen) has the ability to pull people into trances. As well as this, the kids have a shared trance in the movie and this is where my theory comes in.

I think you're right; Eleven is in Max's trance. And I think this is how they're going to take down Vecna. Before I continue, I'll quickly give some proof about what the anon said.

As you can see, Eleven is in the Snow Ball but we know that Max's trance takes place there. This made me start thinking about the character's risky plan. Eleven, like Kristen in Nightmare 3, has similar powers to the villain. This is because Vecna was 001. I believe that the characters will purposefully go into trances so Eleven can infiltrate their minds and try to take down Vecna with her powers from within. The loud bang described in this clip could be Vecna trying to scare her (Vecna is Pennywise inspired and the popping balloon could be an homage to that) but it could also be Eleven trying to confuse Vecna. They clearly fight in some capacity here as shown by Eleven flying backwards although if Eleven fights back by that point is yet to be seen.

This could be linked to Will as well. Noah Schnapp posted him in a harness despite the fact we've not seen any stunts that he'd need it for yet. Millie Bobby Brown posted a video of her and Noah skating together, however Will was wearing a different outfit to what he was originally wearing at the roller rink and instead was wearing the one with the harness. Perhaps their trances bleed together and Will starts experiencing some of Eleven's trance too? I'm not too sure on that but I thought it was worth putting out there. This could be something interesting to think about for the people who talk about Will Byers having powers. If he somehow managed to infiltrate Eleven's mind it could mean he had similar powers to them.

I was theorising earlier with @hawkinsschoolcounselor about Lucas going into a trance. This is because Caleb had censored eyes with contacts in for spoilers and the people who are Vecna'd wear contacts. Whilst this might not be the case, I'm now inclined to believe that a lot of the Hawkins Gang will be going into trances like in Nightmare 3. I doubt they'll develop dream superpowers (who knows though) but I do think they'll have shared trances.

If this is the case, I can only imagine how scary that is for the characters as it exposes all their secrets, trauma and guilt. I hope this isn't used for an outing of Will or Robin. I suppose it could maybe be handled alright but I much prefer more heartfelt coming out stories like Robin to Steve. Although if Robin did go in a trance, this would probably be what it's about considering that seems to be her major secret.

This could maybe even be the route they go down for Byler, with Eleven or Mike looking into Will's brain and seeing his queer thoughts. This could also happen to Mike. As I said, I hope they don't use this approach and I don't think they will because of the painting which in my opinion is almost certainly going to be used for a confession.

I also wonder if Steve, Robin and Nancy are using this distraction to try hunt down and physically kill Vecna. We see them with all of their kit walking somewhere in the Upside Down and shots of Robin attached to a wall with vines. I think the reason Eddie isn't with them is because he's using guitar to lure away the demobats.

Anyways, whilst Eleven and the kids use their minds to weaken and attack Vecna, it would make total sense for these characters to try and sneak attack Vecna with physical weapons. This makes me worried for the older group trying to hurt him as I feel like this would definitely go wrong. Eddie is also at risk because of the fact that he's all alone with his only defense being killer guitar skills and the show has a pattern of killing off loveable new characters as well. We shall have to wait and see.

According to interviews, there's going to be a 1 hour sequence in the final episode that just doesn't stop. Could this sequence be a one hour long trance with Eleven and possibly Will and the gang fighting back against Vecna in their minds?

I hope this answered your question and that this post made sense. Thanks for the ask (:

Edit: I realized after making this post that the final episode is called the Piggyback. This would make perfect sense with my theory. Anyways, have a good day.
