mal would jokingly set his rays color to candy corn just to be a silly guy (it's not really his color as he prefers his purples)

[they quickly turned their head to see the source of the sounds, eyes widening as they saw the small creature struggle. They quickly but carefully got up and went over to the creature, crouching down and cautiously picking up the rock so as not to scare it even more]

"oh jeez I'm sorry little guy- I didn't even notice ya! Let's just get this thing off you,,"

[their voice was laced with a slight fuzz as if talking through a radio, speaking softly as they tossed the rock to the side]

The hadyid, in its panicked frenzy, unrolls and runs straight into Static’s legs. It sits for a moment in the soft brush dazed, as their tail still quakes and shivers and feathers still fluffed out but not enough to completely hide them. The hadyid tries to shake its head and stand up but it falls onto its side instead. The small body flopping onto the soft grass and sand on the side of the pond and curls up slightly again, not a ball by a long shot but the effort was obvious.

"O h nonono you poor thing hhang on-!"

[their voice glitched out slightly, pixelated almost cartoonish "tears" prickling their eyes at the sight of the Hadyid's state. They carefully went to pick up the creature, softly placing it in their lap as they sat on their own legs. they supported its body and head with one hand, scooping up a bit of water to clean off it's injuries with the other]

The hadyid snuggled into Static’s side and whimpered slightly, its eyes were unfocused and slightly foggy. Sneezing slightly, a few feathers of the tail that were already dangling fell onto Static’s lap as the hadyid shivered. It must be terrified, it’s mane of feathers poofing up a lot. Unlike some birds, though, the hadyid’s feathers were soft and almost felt like satin.

It flinched when the water touched its tail. There was grass and leaves stuck on it and in the injuries, that isn’t good. It buried its head in static’s lap and soft sneezes were heard from the feathers in its face.

[Static winced at the injury, even more so at the fact that they'd caused it, pouring a bit more water then carefully removing the leaves that stuck to its tail. They softly pet around the Hadyid's head and feathered mane with their thumb to soothe it as they cleaned, blinking away the tears that threatened to spill from their screen and cooing soft words of reassurance that it would be okay; more to themselves than anyone]
