My mom was a ballerina with the Royal Ballet of Antwerp. She studied under Paul Petroff, who was the premier danseur for the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo and the Original Ballet Russe - among other companies. I remember Paul vaguely since I was really young when he passed - but I remember him making a scrambled egg sandwich and sharing it with me. Anyhow - I am trying to find videos of him to share with my mom. I know she would love to see those. So if the ballet community of Tumblr has any leads, it would be greatly appreciated!

BLACK EXCELLENCE!

Traditional/classical Han Chinese dance, this type is 水袖舞(Water sleeve dance)/长袖舞Changxiu Wu(long sleeve dance). The dancer is Wang Yabin王亚彬. She is a famous artist of classical Chinese dance, and is especially good at both water sleeves and fan dance.  This video was recorded when Wang Yabin was eighteen years old and was practicing her own choreographic work which was performed by actress Zhang Ziyi in the movie House of Flying Daggers. 

The way she slowly walks (starting from 0:59) is so beautiful, springy and soft-footed like 旦dàn in the Beijing opera.  Tang Shiyi唐诗逸 is her younger alumna. They graduated from Beijing Dance Academy.
