Shop at Michaels for your embroidery supplies? Better go get stocked up soon.
Michaels has been the subject of discussion on Reddit recently, and not for anything good.
Michaels may be getting rid of their embroidery sections. It started with reports in Canada, with users saying that everything was on clearance. When several users questioned the store clerks about this, the answer was the same: it’s on clearance because they need to clear the space.
A few days later,…
Oh my goodness, yes this is completely true. I live in California, and at my Michael’s they started by putting all the big kits on sale (Dimensions and Dimension’s Gold Collection, basically anything bigger than one of the mini kits) and then it was on clearance, and it got cheaper and cheaper. I decided to go buy a bunch of kits right as they all hit about $2.00 apiece. Yeah. $2.00 for what was once a $40.00 kit. It was crazy. Then, suddenly, boom, all the big kits were gone. And they reorganized it into just the little kits. Now, as of a couple of weeks ago, they started putting the little kits on clearance. My other Michael’s still has big kits, so I’m not sure how they’re picking which stores to get rid of the embroidery sections in. But out my three stores, one has no embroidery section whatsoever, one has a tiny embroidery section that it looks like they’re getting rid of, and one still has a full embroidery section.
It really sucks that Michael’s is doing this, but I suppose if there is any bright side to it, it’s that things are going on clearance and you can get good deals on expensive kits. Still, at this rate, it’ll be a lot harder to find embroidery supplies once they’re all gone. It’s a shame.
