Things I Never Noticed About Danger on Deception Island

This was the second Nancy Drew game I ever played and it still remains one of my favorites. The overall game storyline is amazing, I love how it incorporates the mysterious appearance of the orca with the history of the area. But man is there a lot of back and forth traveling.

  • I never caught that Katie’s research was on deep sea parasitic growth or that she even did research at all
  • The sad part about playing this game is knowing you grew up in Washington, but you never went to the Puget Sound Islands or had clam chowder
  • Apparently you can have a PhD on the study of sea monsters
  • Nancy's fixation on finding Andy Jason all because of a business card
  • The audio game really should keep the ones lite you have correct if you miss one
  • So how long would Hilda have waited for someone to piece together all her coordinates and discover the box on the hidden beach before taking matters into her own hands?
  • I always forget Hilda was the mayor
  • I just gave Katie a sandwich without leaving to go make a sandwich…
  • This is the second Nancy drew game I’ve ever played and I’ve only ever been able to trigger the convo with Holt about the Atlantic Herring once
  • It would be so nice if you could leave/enter underground tunnel from the lighthouse without having one of the two doors be locked
  • So what exactly was Andy's plan after purposely bringing Nancy to where he was doing the smuggling? Did he really think his men would kidnap her as soon as she was on board?

Things I Never Noticed About the Haunted Carousel

  • That you can called the hotel operator right when you get to the hotel to see if it works lol
  • The number in the Captains Cove brochure is not callable
  • I just realized there could be jewels hidden in other parts of the park other than the carousel
  • You also cannot call the number on the wood receipt
  • Ingrid has a lot of trust in Nancy to do electrical engineering tasks
  • Still interesting how the game tries to convince you Joy is behind the rollercoaster accident due to a chewed pencil
  • The red hand from secret of the scarlet hand on the back of the door to the rollercoaster
  • Who spends 19 grand on a watch and in cash
  • This is the only game where you can see all the different awards you could be awarded at the end
  • How exactly did the letter get up in the rafters?
  • Yeah, you can’t get hired as a security guard if you have a record
  • I kind of wish we could have seen some of the rides Joy has advertised in her office, or just more of the park in general
  • Did Lance ever win the settlement?
  • Elliot made himself a really obvious suspect with all the carousel horse stuff in his office
  • Hannah totally falls apart when Nancy is not home
  • So who shut the door to the haunted house at the end?
  • Also how is Elliot not dead?!

I also always forget how incredibly simple this game is. I think it was the first one I ever got through without using a walkthrough on the first try. Also, Barnacle Blast is one of the worst puzzles in existence.

Things I Never Noticed About Stay Tuned for Danger

  • If people have heard of Nancy after one case, then it’s a miracle she can do undercover work later on in the series without her cover being blown
  • Since Mattie is always losing her keys, I wonder how many copies of aunt Eloise’s house key are just floating around New York
  • THE PHOTOSHOPPED PICTURES
  • The terrifying collage of Rick making different faces *cringe*
  • Not gonna lie, I kind of miss when the games had a lot of random nooks to look at. Then you never know what was going to be important
  • Wish we could read the article in the chatter magazine on inside the mind of a celebrity stalker. Seems like it would have been beneficial considering the plot
  • Dwayne Powers' office building has seen better days
  • The characters are so out of the box in this game
  • Mattie’s acting is terrible
  • The second chances in this game put you way behind where you were actually at. This is frustratingly inconvenient
  • I really don’t understand the obsession with Rick, he is kind of a jerk
  • I never noticed that the bomb at the end spells hell
  • When you’re too lazy to decipher the clues so you use the gestimation method to cut the wires
  • I love how the set of the soap opera contains a real life soap opera between the characters
  • THE BRENDA CARLTON REFERENCE
  • You can discover Mattie’s smushed lipstick before the threat written on the mirror
  • Is Millie actually like mentally unstable or is she just eccentric?
  • I love how pretty much everyone has sent Rick a threat
  • This game has a ton of phone numbers but only the chocolate one is callable
  • The siren wail while solving the final puzzle is super annoying
  • Apparently Ralf works 24hr shifts
  • Dwayne really went from 0 to 100 real fast

Things I Never Noticed About Treasure in the Royal Tower

  • Isn’t it like idk hard to purchase a tower from another country and transport it to the US? Especially in the 20s?? Like wouldn’t the French government be like no
  • I wish we could have Hiked to Butter Lovers Lake. I will now forever wonder if it was yellow
  • None of the activities mentioned in the Wickford Castle brochure Nancy can do
  • I all my game plays as a child till high school I never noticed the operator number on the phone, and have only in the last few years realized you could call the front desk
  • For just arriving Nancy really made herself at home unpacking all of her things, she’s even got mail on the vanity
  • How on earth does Nancy sleep with the broken radiator hissing like that???
  • Did Dexter know about the hidden study in the library?
  • The bugs have names!
  • I get that what Dexter did was bad, but completely disowning him and annulling the adoption seems a tad bit excessive
  • I never realized you could blow the candle out in the secret room, I always left with it still burning
  • When does Hotchkiss sleep? If she is in the lobby from 3-6am and then begins working again once she gets back to her room that's like half the night. Does she take a mid afternoon nap?
  • Did Lisa know who all had medallion pieces of the tiara? Or was it just a coincidence that she happened to visit the castle after Dexter and Jacque got hired and Hotchkiss decided to travel there to work on her book? Cause her plan would not have worked otherwise
  • How did Jacques not hear Nancy banging on the door after getting locked outside?
  • How exactly did Lisa just follow Nancy down into the tunnel leading to the tower? Like it doesn't make much since that she would just know Nancy preset the elevator to be on the middle floor so she could go in through the library, crawl through the vents, and then go through the hidden door usually blocked by the elevator?

Things I never Noticed About Secrets Can Kill Remastered

In honor of the new Nancy Drew game news and finally being done with school (hooray!), I have decided to replay all the Nancy Drew games. Let's just say, playing these games as adult I realized all the plot points and inconsistencies I missed when playing as a child. So here is everything I never noticed about Secrets Can Kill Remastered.

  • I never realized how Nancy was already going to Florida to visit her aunt, I always thought she was called there for the case and was just staying with her aunt.
  • Also, was Jake spying on everyone in the school, or just Connie, Hal, Hulk, and Daryl? And if just these four then why these four specifically?
  • How was Jake able to place video cameras in Connie and Hulk's lockers without them noticing it?
  • It is really unfortunate that we never get to see a picture of Jake.
  • The inconsistency that supposedly Daryl found Jakes body but according to the security timeline of that night the security officer found him first.
  • I also never realized that Mitch Dillion was the schools HVAC person and used to be Beech's partner, I always thought he was an incredibly random person that just called and threaten Nancy and I used to be so lost over that.
  • I always thought the game took place when school was in session and always questioned why the school was so empty, but just realized that Nancy was poking around after school had ended.
  • This is my first playthrough where I called the phone number on the Judo poster and Jake's phone number on the journal reward poster and there's actually a little audio clip that plays for both!
  • I definitely forgot how short this game was? It always seemed longer when I was a kid, maybe because I always struggled finding all the hidden clues, there was always one I could never find.

Things I Never Noticed About Secret of the Scarlet Hand

- Nancy scores an internship to help a museum prepare for an exhibit on Mayan culture but knows nothings about Mayan culture.

- I just realized in Prudence's interview she mentions her husband drown, but in other games she has side convos with him while talking to Nancy . . . I hope she just remarried.

- Ruffleton Rutherford. Enough said.

- Probably not the best idea to mention in an interview that you keep a Mayan artifact at your home.

- I never really paid attention to the names of the contributors to the museum, but some of them are just gold. Like Rusty Dents, Salamander Jones, Hugh Honeyham, NDfan123. Also the little easter egg to Punchy LaRue.

- I like how in Sonnys notebook the little cartoon drawings depict Alejandro as the hero, Henrik as a mad scientist/Albert Einstein, Joanna as greedy, and Sinclair as a trickster.

- I swear with the mask on, Henrik looks like he could be a Helen.

- The amount of times I have solved a temple puzzle without first inserted my puzzle card.

- Alejandro spilling the tea on all the shadiness going on behind the scenes.

- Not two seconds after Nancy learns about the stolen artifacts does the museum get robbed.

- Joanna knows absolutely nothing about anything.

- Museum can afford a million dollar monolith, cannot afford packing supplies

- The first time I played this game, I completely ignored all the hints on Sonny's disk and manage to solve all the puzzles through trial and error, and the information in the museum. Have not been able to pull that off again.

- The Maya really took beauty is pain to a whole new level.

- In all of Sonny's notes on the Mayan numbering system, only three actually describe the gods used in the puzzle.

- It's a really good thing Sinclair is the culprit because he just looks slimy.

- How Nancy is 100% responsible for Joanna's suspension lol.

- One of the pieces in the garden is on loan from Wicford Estate.

- So . . . am I just supposed to assume that Sinclair pushed Henrik off the temple, or is Henrik really that clumsy?

- Anyone else think Sinclair tampered with the last owners of the artifact's AC so he could secure it to Beech Hill and steal it later?

- I like how out of all the possible reasons to start a smuggling ring, it ended up being to pay off college debt and to further research. The accuracy here man.

- Okay so was Henrik actually apart of the smuggling ring at one point, or was he just trying to steal the pieces before Sinclair did. That was kind of fuzzy.

- Forever wishing it was possible to snoop in Sinclair's office.

- It's so annoying how Prudence is the first person you can ask to send you her jade piece but it's always the last to arrive.

- Has anyone actually figured out which key unlocks which side of the monolith? Because I honestly just keep turning it until it clicks lol.

- That ending speech is still the weirdest speech ever. Like I have so many questions.

- Overall I do really enjoy this game. It's one of my favorite older ones.

Things I Never Noticed About The Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon

- Nancy stating that everyone invited on the train is a detective...

- That right after Lori disappears, Nancy is inserted into a conversation with Charleena.

- How all of the characters were motivated to accept Lori's invitation for other reasons, and not because they knew Lori (well, accept Tino)

- Forever wondering why Nancy isn't apart of ATAC

- Still wondering how Lori got from the front of the train, to the back of the train through a secret passage that was never discovered...

- The Flippy Fins ad holds the key to what exactly the hand of the deep is

- How much of a jerk Charleena is

- Just how many puzzles and clues are introduced at the start of the game. Holy moly

- Forever wondering how Tino has made it this far as a detective

- Tino apparently reads Charleena's romance novels

- Jake Hurley was incredibly advanced for his time

- What exactly is the purpose of the caboose? Camille's second private car?

- Was it ever explained who threw the emergency break and why? I've never managed to figure this out.

- The fact that Charleena doesn't want to help Nancy find out what happened to Jake, but wants to stay in the loop so she can write about him....

- Loving how all the character's throw shade at one another behind their backs

- Camille's shoes just happen to be in Nancy's size

- That Nancy can come in, put on a dead woman's shoes and randomly start dancing and Lori doesn't even bat an eye

- So... did Camille purposely name all of her dolls after her favorite shoe maker just so Jake could create the doll puzzle, or did the dolls come with those names and the creation of the puzzle is a coincidence?

- Museum owner has never played the games in their own museum

- Thinking about how lonely Fatima must be

- Surprised that on the picture box puzzle you can leave the wolf and the peacock together and the wolf won't eat it

- The canon and mine elevator still work after all this time

- How does the spinner just know what colors to point to? For that matter what makes the lizards glow?

- It was never explained how Jake died in the mine. And also why didn't his engineer go check on him before just up and leaving.

Things I Never Noticed About Ghost Dogs of Moon Lake

- How weird it was for Sally to invite Nancy to her home, only to leave before she arrives.

- Malone's lake house is pretty lackluster considering he was a rich gangster in the 20s

- None of the door and windows have locks

- The fact that Red just freely wonders around Sally's property and creates and observation platform in one of her trees to "bird watch" at night...

- Sticky notes located in some interesting places

- Sally has lived in the house for a month but it still looks like she just got there (like seriously, where's all her stuff???)

- How in other games the objects and clues added to Nancy's inventory are pretty oddball and rememberable, but the ones in this game are all normal everyday objects I kept forgetting I had.

- The first few times I played this game I never found the shed and was unable to grab the mask before it burned and had to restart the whole game from the beginning

- All the puns on the gravestones

- Forever wondering if the cemetery is considered state park property. On that note, how is the acreage even determined because there are some weird inconsistencies on what is considered Sally's property and what is considered state park.

- Game allows you to ask Emily about Waldo Mathias before player is aware this is an important clue

- Ems emporium advertises antiques from the 20s but the only things for sale are booze bottles, plates, and cans

- Health and safety section and the park regulations section on the computer repeats everything hung up on the walls in the ranger's station, as well as information brought up in conversation (none of which is relevant to solving the game)

- Never realizing that Malone built his lake house in the exact spot of an old farmhouse that used to hide escaped slaves. Which is no doubt why he was able to have a huge speakeasy hidden under the house and how all the tunnels were created

- Akers dedicating a section of his informational website to himself

- Almost nothing at the ranger station is interesting or useful to the case

- Music in game is similar to music in the X Files

- Depending on how you play the game you can have conversations pertaining to things you have yet to discover

- It's never explained why Emily just so happen to be at the Malone house at the same time Nancy discovered the speaker on the roof

- How none of the characters in this game really have a good motive as to wanting Sally gone

- Instructions to finding the cemetery are useless after wondering around for half the game finding birds and bugs

- How Sally knows nothing about the house she just bought nor the famous resident who lived there

- Lights in the speakeasy and secret tunnel are still turned on after all these years

- That there is a picture of Mathias on the dart board

- Just how much Malone was obsessed with his dogs

- Apparently there is a secrete entrance to the tunnels from the lake

- Having to always use a walkthrough on the last puzzle because I never noticed there are roman numerals on the dogs graves

- What even is the place Malone hid the gold in???
