Solomon - well known maker of deals under dubious circumstances, with the sole purpose of collecting demons to use as pawns and ultimately amass power to further his own goals - WOAH NOW, let's not go around assigning blame towards unrelated matters, there's 0 correlation between this demon being a bad person and his penchant for stealing souls! Don't you think you're being a little judgemental about a perfectly innocent hobby?
god he's so casually insane
............

...
.
🤦
At least MC only has to make pacts with 7 demons to get their powers back
Solomon's got like what? 72?
Losing my goddamn mind over this holy shit?????
The way the background music turns ominous when Mammon reveals what the grimoire was about and later when Solomon reveals he knows everything about Cerberus
He's tightening the noose around Lucifer from every corner, starting from Asmo and I'm obsessed - I need to see how this will progress
also poor simeon he was so happy...
He's such a bitch. He found out who Asmo was and did a complete 180 because he suddenly became useful in Solomon's eyes and brought Solomon a step closer to Lucifer.
I love him so much
You cannot convince me that these two haven't fucked multiple times
Lucifer & Diavolo are a thousands of years of slowburn while Asmo & Solomon have been getting it on for just as long
MC getting together with any of these four means they're getting a two-in-one offer
Barbatos & Simoen are also a two-in-one offer because they're co-parenting Luke together
The twins are a two-in-one offer because they're basically telepathic and at that point it's easier to take both of them than trying to cut one off
Another realisation about Solomon post? Yes.
But First!
Let's talk about MC and Mammon's friendship (like I haven't spoken about it enough)
(platonically) general MC is probably the closest with Mammon:
• Beel mentions this in early S1 - saying that MC frequently seeks Mammon out to talk with him
• Levi mentions this in both S2 and Nightbringer
• Belphie briefly implies it in a chat
• Mammon has spoken about it multiple times
• Mammon & MC have been sharing a room frequently enough for him to leave his toothbrush and phone charger in their room from early S1 all the way up to S4
• His birthday is the only one they took charge and planned on their own, starting the gift giving a whole week before the actual date
• He's the only person in the circus event that they instantly remembered without having to talk with him first
• He's the first one in Nightbringer to fully accept them and start bringing them into the family shenanigans
• There are dialogue options like this, that aren't really options at all
• He's always their first - their first friend in every timeline and alternate universe
Okay so, now to the actual point of the post:
Solomon (in Nightbringer) asks MC if they've made any progress towards making the new pacts and MC says they're working on Mammon.
We know, obviously, why MC picks Mammon:
• He's their first. Not only does it seem like the right thing, they know him enough to know he'll throw a huge tantrum if he wasn't their first
• He's the safest and easiest option (I speak about this in more detail here) but basically he's the most settled after the Fall, the least likely to react badly or in anger, the least likely to accidentally hurt them and an extremely loyal ally (post here)
• Most importantly, he's their friend and they genuinely just like spending time with him
Solomon however, says something along the lines of picking Mammon being a smart choice because Mammon seems lonely.
Solomon's first thought was to see MC and Mammon's relationship from a strategic point of view. He saw a weakness (a true weakness btw, I actually have half a fic written from a year ago about Mammon being lonely in the Celestial Realm and I really need to complete it) and he exploited it to get what he wanted - similar to how he made a pact with Asmo in the present day timeline.
Solomon saying/doing this isn't really a bad thing, but I think it really adds to his character and shows his differences when compared to MC. It also really adds weight to the whole:
• locked away in a basement and hidden from the world during his childhood
• had one childhood friendship which is implied to have ended badly
• spent thousands of years without any real friends despite the fact that he had at least three people (Asmo, Barbatos and Thirteen) who genuinely cared for him
• admitted to not seeing the demons he made pacts with as friends until either s3 or 4, despite the fact that, even pre-series, Solomon is one of the people Asmo genuinely likes, cares about, values the opinion of, wants to impress and initially feels nervous around because of this
I just...
I love it when they give you a smiley and chill, kinda goofy, character whose past is a little mysterious and then you figure out oh he's got a tragic past and also his world view and thought processes are very messed up but also a product of his past
10/10 character actually

Thought of something sad and figured it was my duty to tell y'all and drag you down with me :D
Solomon has always had fairly powerful magic, even before he made any pacts. He was born with magic, even if as a child he could only produce accidental magic
Solomon was born in a time and country where humans greatly feared magic. And anyone even rumoured to possess it would be executed - even the family and relatives of said person could meet the same fate
Because of this, when he was young, Solomon's parents locked him up in a dark, gloomy basement and hid him away from everyone else. It's obvious that they did this for the sake of their own lives rather than to save Solomon because if they were concerned about Solomon there were ways they could have gone about hiding him and his magic that didn't result in locking a child in a basement with only one small window.
His parents, his family, acted in favour of the "greater good" (the lives of themselves and the rest of their family and relatives) by acting against their own child.
And he internalised this.
Because this is basically what he expected of MC pre-the-grimoire-debacle. He, without any doubt, expected them to act against their family for the sake of the greater good (humanity).
Because this is what he was shown as a child. That the lives of the many outweigh the lives of the few, even if those few lives are the ones you are meant to cherish and protect
When in reality most humans will put the lives of their closest loved ones ahead of anyone else
So does 13 have another Reaper in her cave or is she just gonna let some souls live a bit longer 😆. Actually, how did Solomon know that 13 would be the Reaper that had Beel's candle at least? Or do all Reaper's have the same candle collection?
Love answering old asks once we've learnt new information that sounds insane
Like imagine going back in time and answering this with:
No! But she's got Solomon living in there with her!
Seriously though no clue how the Reapers work...
Maybe they all have the same set of candles and somehow instinctively know which souls they should collect
Maybe they each have an area they cover so they have different sets of candles
Either way, the reason Solomon knew Thirteen had Beel's candle is because he'd probably seen it beforehand
I mean we know Solomon's been interested in the brothers for a long time, because he wants to make pacts with them and use them and their powers to protect humanity if it's ever needed. And we know he's willing to exploit any weakness to make those pacts - from making a pact with Lucifer to getting Asmo blackout drunk in order to make a pact with him to using their grimoire to getting MC to promise to work against the brothers if it comes down to it
Since he's lived in Thirteen's cave long enough that he considers it a safe place then he's surely thoroughly explored it and seen the candles and realised the Sins' candles are there as well
Okay so👏
* unlikely because as far as Solomon is concerned his & Thirteen's relationship is still going strong (which honestly I got to agree with - she obviously cares about him deeply in her own way)
** She was visiting the human realm often enough that it wouldn't be totally out of the realm of possibility. Plus the only thing we know about Solomon's friend is that they had a family and were probably not originally from his country as they possibly didn't hold the same fear towards magic that was common within humans during his time. Also it'd be cool if the two known human rights activists had met
**** under the assumption that the grave doesn't belong to one of the other listed options and instead belongs to a completely new/unheard of person
**** CRACK, CRACK, PURE CRACK BUT I COULDN'T RESIST
Pls reblog for a larger sample🐸
Oof he knows exactly where their priorities and loyalty lies and if you're following the canon narrative then obviously yeah but I can't lie and say it doesn't hurt to consider how painfully lonely Solomon must be, specially now that we know a little more of his backstory
Okay so Nightbringer says that both angels and demons saw humans as something to be protected
Obey Me! says that demons ate humans
Obey Me! and Nighbringer say that angels didn't get involved with humans (and doing so would lead to great punishments) but they still protected humans from a far
And I think I get it...
Angels see humans as we see endangered animals. Keep them in wildlife sanctuaries and protect them but keep interactions to a minimum. Angels who become Guardian Angels (basically the canon angel version of a pact) are the keepers.
Demons see humans as we see farm animals. Can be interacted with and looked after and loved but also nothing wrong with using them as a food source, it just depends on the type of demon (pet owner = has a pact with a human, vegetarian = doesn't eat human, everyday average citizen = will coo at humans doing cute things on their phones, will help a lost or hurt human, will also happily eat a human burger)
And Lilith said actually, humans are equal to us and shouldn't be treated this way and I'll show it by loving them
And Solomon said actually, humans are equal to you and shouldn't be treated this way and I'll show it by making contingency plans to fight everyone else
And MC said actually I genuinely don't care I just want to go home and take a 72 hour nap and then they did
I think it's funny that Solomon has been alive even longer than the brothers have been demons but he still believes in, values and wants to protect humans and humanity
Meanwhile, (if we take the legal drinking age as 21) MC has only been alive for something over 2 decades but said "wow we're the worst" and dipped at the first chance they got
People keep trying to go and drop them back on earth but they're instantly digging a hole under the fence and crawling back into the devildom
MC Very Obviously Not Being Human
1. Hard Lesson 14-13
2. Normal 27-3
There's a split second after this that's impossible to get a screenshot of, when Simeon calls MC and Solomon smiles and tells MC their director is calling and then his smile falls and his text box vanishes and he's on screen a second too long and he gets this considering look
3. Lessons 35 to 36
MC very literally beats Death.
The Reaper's punishment for breaking their rules was fatal and even the brothers wouldn't have been able to override them
MC is however able to unconsciously turn those punishments into harmless easily reversible transformation curses
4. Normal Lesson 52-A
5. Normal Lesson 52-5
6. Normal Lesson 65-6
7. In Nightbringer, none of the demons or angels are able to recognise MC as a human despite them doing nothing to disguise themself. Diavolo himself takes a long time to figure it out and still doesn't seem 100% sure when he does
8. Nightbringer Lesson 8-18
The second time MC's magic/power/aura has been associated with angels
9. Nightbringer Lesson 10-16
10. In S1 they say MC has an exceptionally bright soul for a human despite the fact that MC isn't actually some pure innocent person (them being a shithead in og om!) (them being a shithead in Nightbringer). When on og om's homescreen Mammon says that it's hard to look at Simeon & Luke because as angels they're very bright
So what's my theory?
Lilith was never fully human. She may have had a body of a human but she still had the soul and ,buried deep inside, the magic of an Angel (you could even argue that she had the magic of an Angel-Demon hybrid because she died after she Fell so she was no longer fully an Angel but before she got to transform into a Demon)
OM! may pick and choose what parts of irl myth they use for their characters BUT all their characters that are based of an irl mythological/religious figure has at least one characteristic connecting them to their namesake. Lilith in some of the most common irl stories is the mother of demons/monsters

I CAN'T
That's was really good chapter, really good
I can feel that MC was really triggered when Belphie go for attack, body remember everything...
Also, I started to love Asmo, I mean I always love all of them, but no, Asmo plus one favorite, favorite trio😭😭😭😭
THEY'RE DIDN'T HESITATE AND BELIEVE MC, I JUST CAN'T
Sol Is awesome and I'm so glad to be here with him, I always loved him, but I didn't get enough of him, so yeah, win not only for Mammon stan, but for Sol stan, my two precious white haired grandpa
Sol is so protective of MC
That line was so powerful, where he was be like, and you think that I'm not angry? 🤗
I want to know what happened to him, I HOPE WE'LL KNOW, I need more lore, bc he was almost dead and Barb helped him, what the fuck happened between them >_<
Also, fuck you Belphie, NOT HIM TALKING ABOUT HONESTY LOL still my little meow meow
But I really interested...how Beel and Satan would react on that. Want to believe that Satan on our side. I mean, humans didn't get him, pls he's my favorite too....
13 IS MY WIFE AAAHHHHHH
she was so sweet and liked our soul, awwww
And I really feel bad for MC, I love angst for my girl, but... It's hurt. Your family doesn't know you, some of them want to kill you, and you can't make yourself to hurt them because of love, but also cant tell them that you know them and you're family :(
They may be strong in every aspect, but still.
Lucifer is not angry, but more feel betrayed and hurt, I think that's the case :(
Pls let MC get some rest, bc I'm worried bc of that promise 🙂
Also that moment with choosing side...was interesting. I love how Sol so protective of own people and how he wanted to be powerful, now everything makes sense. But a little sad, that it doesn't seem that MC with him on this. MC not attached to the own world, sometimes I feel like that they're doesn't have a place in the world bc they're not exactly human, not demon and not angel, really interesting moment
And have a good day!
Yes!! Yes! Everything you said! You basically summarised all my thoughts!
The Asmo-Levi-Mammon-MC friend group is so wholesome!!!??? I love that the three of them believed MC no questions asked! And Levi, in Nightbringer, before he gets more used to being a demon is so shy??? I want to squeeze him. And Asmo's so sweet!????? They can be mean, obviously, but it's nowhere near what they are like as fully fledged demons
The Solomon backstory and his relationship with both Thirteen & Barbatos was so good! Also Candy!! I'm so glad we got to find out more about her too
Thirteen & Solomon technically being roommates? The fact that Thirteen actually really cares about Solomon!? I'm😭 That Barbatos really cares about him as well🥺
Oh! Oh! Yes Solomon saying the you think I'm not angry line while just 😊 smiling was amazing. Man was fucking livid
He cares about MC so much, and he cares about humanity so much that if it comes to it he would fight viciously against people he has come to consider his friends and he expects MC to be the same. Because Solomon's been without a human friend/companion for so long and he finally found someone like him and he expected them to hold the same views and ideals as him because of course when you ask a human to choose between humanity and demons they'll choose humanity no matter what bond they have with the demons right!? Except MC went haha actually.....lol and then gave the grimoire to Lucifer with 0 hesitation and then promised to protect them & bring happiness to them in a place they were told not to make promises (my bet is it'll make their promise binding and they knew that too right!? Because they spoke about not making promises there twice with Thirteen. and if that's the case that means they knowingly made a binding promise meaning if it comes down to it if there's a war they'll never be on humanity's side) God, Solomon must be devastated
Also the fact that Nightbringer was right about what MC will choose!?
Satan might actually just not pick a side? Like he wouldn't be bothered to go out of his way to help MC the way the other three did, but at the same time if it meant going against Lucifer......
Beel, I'm not sure. Because as of rn MC hasn't had a big bonding moment with Beel and it's just been 1yr since they lost Lilith. He may not hate humans the way Belphie does but I feel like he'll take Belphie's side, the same way he did in that Devilgram where Belphie protested the exchange program
Lucifer was definitely hurt and scared and covering it up with anger
And yeah I get the same feeling that general MC doesn't really have anything in the human world. It's kinda been hinted at in the previous seasons as well and nightbringer might as well have confirmed it during the last lesson
In conclusion,
Let MC take a fucking nap
Feel like Solomon & Thirteen being roommates explains a lot
the context honestly makes their relationship so much funnier
Do you think we are going to find out what Solomon did to Barbatos to basically lower him to the level of a rat in his eyes? I have to say, I love seeing the feisty side of the butler 😆
Probably yeah!!
Honestly though I wouldn't be suprised if he just fed barbatos some food💀
Also yess!! Bitter divorced era! Love it <3
