they're brothers who love each other very much <3
Bonus, because why were they so horny in this event:
On the Mephisto's bro and Luke becoming friends; Probably some event or festival and the groups encounter eachother during it, Mephisto probably says something catty about the MC and one of the bros steps in to tell him off. Luke wants to stand up to Mephisto but Mephisto's lil'bro puts his hand on his shoulder and tells him to let them be childish and hands him some juice. It ends with MC, Luke and the little bro getting something to eat together while the adults are arguing
As much as I love this scenario I can definitely see Mephisoto's brother being just like him in regards to his attitude towards non-demons.
Specially after seeing what the older noble demons are like in Nightbringer and knowing Mephisto and his brother grew up in that environment
I kinda imagine Mephisto's brother's attitude being the mirror to Luke's S1 attitude towards demons, and him having to learn and grow the same way Luke did
If they ever introduce him and if he's Luke's age I want Luke to play a part in helping him overcome those prejudices the way the others all helped Luke overcome his own prejudices. And I want that in turn to help Mephisto grow after seeing his younger brother grow
Okay so Michael is "the Archangel" the way Lucifer is "the Morningstar" but their hierarchy/class in the Celestial Realm is the seraphim, which is the highest of the order.
archangels (simple a) is also a class/rank like seraphim, cherubs & thrones but it's one of the lowest consisting of soldiers/warriors. Mammon (before he was promoted to be a throne) & Simeon (after he was demoted from the seraphim but before he lost his grace) were both archangels
Me, whenever I want to buy something and my bank account is screaming at me:
Why is MC traumatising this child😭
So. What are your thoughts on how Luke was introduced in nb? Cause I always pictured him being... created? I guess is the word? A decent while after the fall to give him even more emotional distance from the brothers and the war. More time to think of them as Just Demons rather than as angels who fell recently you know? Plus I seem to remember him having never met the brothers when they were angels (could be wrong)
But him being around in nb makes me think that right after the brothers fell their father went about making some new angels to replace them, like Right Away. This time making them as younger children starting out since making them as adults didn't give nearly as much control over their actions as he would like (if we assume asmo's 7 days after I was created line means created as an adult, which it might not I'm now realizing. Maybe all angels are made at like 10 y/o or whatever?) Like he wanted them to be able to grow up enmeshed in the celestial relms teachings to avoid another rebellion you know? Instead of just being adults told rules to follow if that makes sense
This!!!
So s3 confirms that Luke wasn't around when the brothers were angels
And S1 confirms that s1 itself was the first time Luke was meeting the brothers (Simeon too I think? Like it was the first time after the Fall)
So yeah. I was fine with all the other retconns but that's the one that actually annoyed me
But ig since Luke is a main side character/a beloved part of the original characters and MC is going to stay in the past for possibly more seasons they can't cut Luke fully out
Obey Me! also canonically has alternate universes so this could be an AU instead of the direct past? Though so far it's playing out like it's the direct past, definitely gonna have to see how it plays out and how the present is affected (specially given the Lesson 10 cliffhanger)
Okay so I do think the brothers were somewhat younger when they were created? Because the way Lucifer sometimes treats them and the way they sometimes treat him - it feels like he's on instinct caring for children rather than adults? But I also like the idea that God realised his first batch came out fucked up and immediately baked a new one. Really fucked up. Amazingly angsty for all of Lucifer's daddy issues (remember how both Lucifer & Simeon's greatest fear is their father/creator)
Is there many plot holes in Nightbringer? Or is it a new world (timeline?) so all the things said that contradicts the OG! Obey me story make sense?
So before nightbringer was released i said that they'll probably retcon a lot of things (the same way s3 retconned certain info from s1) as they go more into the lore and figure out what they want to do and the easiest way for it to make sense was to consider it as an alternate universe (which exist in om!)
But with Nightbringer being the direct sequel to s4 i was ready to scrap all that and take it as canon
BUT with them introducing Luke & Simeon in the past I'm actually wondering if it is a canon alternate universe
Luke not being alive during this period of time was established in S3 BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY Luke met the brothers for the first time in S1 so him being present and possibly growing/learning to accept demons in nightbringer entirely rewrites his role in S1 unless this is a whole other AU
What happens in Nightbringer might be explained the way Levi's therapy TSL from nightbringer was explained - was it a dream? Was it real? No clue but it left behind some physical evidence in the "real world" but other than that it had no great impact on it (which is what happens when MC dreams about other AUs from events & devilgrams)
Or they may find another way to explain simeon & luke's presence
Also
Barbatos can open doors between time and space, present day Barbatos is the one helping Solomon bring MC home and past Barbatos seems to genuinely have no idea who the fuck MC is and seemed to be actually upset about one of Solomon's apprentices being there - so...is one of them lying or is there a third Barbatos hiding somewhere...
Edit:
FUCKING NIGHTBRINGER!?
Edit:
it's much less about luke being alive during whatever time period and more about luke's first meeting with the brothers being in S1 of om! & how his character development starts in s1 and continues till s4. By introducing him in nightbringer they're changing his first meeting and his entire arc because we already see him starting that character development that should have started in s1
And suddenly changing a semi-main character's whole arc like that after spending 4 seasons building it up is much bigger than occasionally changing the period of his birth and not something that can be easily brushed off without a good explanation
This is the third time Luke's being worried about/protective over Mammon in a chat🥺❤️
Hi!! It's the anon who asked about the Luke/MC protection thing (thanks for answering my ask 💕). I'm very sure that it was implied that Luke was the one who was protecting them, but I do agree that MC being the one protecting them fits with the theme of the season! And I haven't played S3 yet so I didn't know about the "angels can't bless demons" thing (which is very interesting imo 👀) So either I read that chat with Luke and Simeon entirely wrong (which seems most likely tbh lol) or they retconned it
Hey! It's no prob🐸
So I actually went & tried to find this chat & I checked every chat that had Simeon & Luke (their one together, their one with Solomon & their one with MC) and the only chats I could find about this particular situation were these two:
If you have screenshots or know the name of the chat or which group in particular it was in? (It's very likely I missed it given how much of a hell it is to find shit in om! chats)
While they do retcon things (changing Lucifer from an archangel to a seraph) this seems like too big of a retcon? Since it spans two whole lessons vs them just changing a word around?
Could it be possible that Simeon just said it to Luke to make him feel better?
Cause like I said in my previous post there's literally no possible way for Luke to counteract Thirteen's curses because that means he'd be more powerful that Solomon, Michael and all the brothers - which is obviously not true.
But could it be possible that Simeon, hearing Luke worry about his friends going on a very dangerous journey gave him something to hang on to? Gave him a way to believe he helped and so a way to have more hope that everything will be okay - even though realistically nothing changed - just to soothe the kid's mind.
This is something you do for kids in real life AND it's something we see Simeon do for Luke (in a larger scale) in S4
Edit:
ANON I'M YELLING I'M GOING TO MURDER YOU IN COLD BLOOD I WENT THROUGH EVERY SINGLE CHAT BETWEEN LUKE & SIMEON (THAT'S TWO WHOLE GROUP CHATS AND ONE SET OF DMS BTW!!!) AND THOUGHT I WAS LOSING MY MIND
anyway it was in the chat between Luke & Barbatos
& thanks to @silverinnia
Here's the chat in question:
1. Like I said, this could still very well be Barbatos trying to put Luke's mind at ease, whether or not anything he does will be effective
2. This is very definitely not the same as counteracting Thirteen's curses or giving the brothers a Blessing for protection (which would canonically kill them because they're demons). Barbatos is suggesting Luke uses his powers to "put their minds at ease". To y'know calm their nerves (which they all had at the time given the circumstances) - something that would help them think & act clearly when interacting with Thirteen.
In your post with all the screenshots about MC nor being human, you said that MC is the one who made the reaper's punishments harmless. Wasn't that actually Luke's doing? If I remember correctly, while you play that lesson you get a chat about Luke pretending to not be worried about MC and the demon brothers going to the reaper's cave and Simeon suggests that he protect them or something like that.
[Season 2 & 3 Spoilers]
The entirety of S2 is about MC's powers and how (subconsciously) out of control they are. This incident fits right in with the theme.
When Solomon says this he says it with an awfully serious expression, which is of course unusual for him. It's the same expression he has earlier in S2 while he stares at MC when they leave after revealing they felt no different after controlling the 7 sins for the first time when Solomon himself felt terrible after the first time he controlled demons.
The brothers are the 7 Sins - after Diavolo (& if you don't count Barbatos) they're the most powerful demons in the Devildom. They also held high ranks as angels with Lucifer holding the same rank as Michael who seems to be Diavolo's counterpart. Solomon is the most powerful Sorcerer in the human realm.
None of them are able to counteract Thirteen's curses.
Luke is a young angel (a child) without a class/rank, he is powerful for his age as mentioned in S3*, but he's definitely not stronger than the brothers, Solomon or Michael.
MC on the other hand has the power of all 7 Sins coursing through them along with their own magic and it's so powerful that not only is it tearing the Devildom apart it was transcending Realms and tearing the Celestial Realm apart too. MC's power was very literally tearing through reality.
Their life essence is also what, again bends reality, and lengthens Beel's own life essence and stops his candle from dying out - even after his brothers added their own life essence to Beel's candle it wasn't enough to stop it from burning out
Both of these fit with what was happening to Thirteen's curses;
a.) Reality was bending, and what should have been a deadly curse was turning them into Little Ds
b.) Someone was overpowering Thirteen's magic and MC is later shown to be stronger than Thirteen because of the whole candle thing
*In S3 Luke blesses MC. This blessing holds out weeks later against the Boogeyman. One of the brothers teases Mammon saying that when Luke grows up he might be stronger than Mammon thus implying that currently Mammon is stronger than Luke. And yet Mammon's magic couldn't resist Thirteen's curse.
Furthermore, in S3 it's revealed that Luke (& angels) can't use their magic to protect or Bless demons as it would kill the demons - yes, even demons as powerful as the Sins because it's Mammon who says that Luke Blessing him, and thus offering him protection, would kill him
Having one of those 'hear me out' moments so....hear me out?
*As usual taking canon facts and building a theory*
So canonically:
• Michael lives in the Celestial Realm where it is always daytime
• Michael likes the stars and constellations (of the human world)
• Michael taught Mammon about the constellations
• n thousand years later Mammon gets them wrong/mixed up while pointing them out to Luke, MC & Satan
• Michael taught Luke about the constellations
• n hundred to possibly even just a year later Luke gets them wrong/mixed up while trying to correct Mammon
• Luke worships the fucking ground Michael walks on. He idiolizes Michael so much. His main reason for learning new recipes for sweets is so he can make them for Michael who has a sweet tooth. There is no fucking way he forgot/mixed up anything Michael taught him.
• Michael lives in the Celestial Realm where it is always daytime
Theory?
Michael doesn't know shit about the constellations.
He loves them sure, he's probably read about them but he can't accurately identify them to save his life. He, however, is 100% confident that he can identify them and is very excited to share his knowledge about them with his kids.
Thus, with each new charge he gets he teaches them a wholly different set of incorrect/mixed up constellations.
You racist little shit❤
disclaimer: i know one of y'all's gonna try & kill me so - it's a joke
I've been waiting for them to acknowledge this since S1😭
Christ, Luke.
Two types of sibling relationships;
"Baby-sibling-I-adore" & "Hero-worship"
"I'm-making-it-my-life's-mission-to-constantly-piss-you-off-but-I'd-kill-for-you" & "You're-literally-the-most-annoying-person-on-this-entire-planet-I-hate-that-I-look-up-to-you-drop-dead"
My other favourite relationship in this event is Lucifer & Luke's
Lucifer just coming down to look for Luke and then reassuring him in his own rough way.
The fact that they washed up in the same area? Absolutely makes me think Lucifer dived in after Luke and brought him to land and then stayed with him
Lucifer worrying that Luke would trip and fall? Good shit
Lucifer with Luke in this event:
