Steven Universe Parallels

What makes Amedot such a good ship? I didn't think much of it at first but after re-watching the most recent episodes and looking at many of it (including yours), I find it quite adorable. What pulled you into it?

If you ask me about Amedot get ready for me to gush, this is going to BE LONG, //stretches and cracks knuckles, here we go !!

Before Too Far I never even thought that ship could work but after it I’m never going back. They just have a really nice dynamic, of course it didn’t start out that way. Peridot seemed to only like Amethyst because she was supposed to like her, being a Quartz. So Peridot just started to idiolize her because that really what anyone on HW would do really, they’re better than you in a way. 

But then things happened where Peridot started to like Amethyst just for being her. Example 1

Making Amethyst laugh made Peridot feel good. Plus it didn’t seem like Peridot was even doing it because Amethyst was a Quartz and all that, it was because Amethyst enjoying Peridot’s company made Peridot feel happy and big.

Which is why Peridot threw a tantrum and was gruff and grumpy when Amethyst was upset at her because Peridot didn’t really know WHY she even cared about how Amethyst felt, she’s the enemy so who cares right? But Peridot did care deep down and when she realized it she could properly apologize to her.

Not to mention how Peridot found her inner strength to break her leash to rescue Amethyst in the first place.

In which Steven found a power he didn’t even know he had just to rescue Connie.

Back to Amedot, so after the events of Too Far it seems that Amethyst’s and Peridot’s relationship got better, Amethyst was definitely trying to warm up to her more. She drew her face on a balloon and invited her to the party.

When Peridot sang her song, Amethyst seemed the most shocked and interested.

And later we see Peridot still awkwardly giving Amethyst compliments

Now this is where it starts to get very interesting. When the Gems feared Peridot had betrayed them, besides Steven, Amethyst was the only one to have “tear eyes”

She was also the only one with the most range of emotions and expressions (again, besides Steven)

And it’s obvious but, Amethyst gives nicknames to people she holds dear. And she already gave Peridot 2 of em, Peri and P-Dot. Amethyst was hurt the most because she felt she already bonded with Peridot a bit, Peridot SAVED HER, Peridot APOLOGIZED to her, told her she wanted to understand her. Before this scene Amethyst was even practicing acting like her, she even threw Peridot a small compliment her way which if you read it right Amethyst basically said, “No one can be Peridot better than Peridot herself”.

But once everything was cleared up Amethyst was just BURSTING with happiness and props

 I love them, they’re so good together and like I said have a great dynamic. Peridot started off liking Amethyst for her rank but ended up liking her for her. And we know how sometimes Amethyst feels out of place or a third wheel to Pearl and Garnet, she finally gets positive attention out of another gem in the group, attention and validation just for her and she returns it gladly. 

I’m so excited to see them interact even more hereafter
