I'm not going to go fully into my feelings about Veilguard because it's complicated, and I know explaining the nuance of my feelings to the internet at large is a lesson in futility.

That said, Emmrich's character arc and questline was a high point in writing and character/level design for me. And, I'm not saying that just as someone who wanted (and did) kiss him all over the Necropolis.

I'm not getting into spoilers, but I felt as though the writers who worked on his character and questline knew the themes and inspirations they were working with very well and used the previously established lore about Nevarra to their benefit in shaping the questline and character arc. His romance was similarly tied very well into the themes of his route at large.

Question for those playing Veilguard.

Friend was telling me he heard people saying there were hardly any conversations with companions, or that there were a lot less side quests in Veilguard than prev games, but this hasn't jived with my experience or memory of prev games, especially if you count the 'walk and talk' quests, so I'm wondering if people are just missing quests and conversations with companions because they aren't visiting the Lighthouse enough?

I had the issue with my first Rook where even though I theoretically knew I was supposed to check in there from dev news stuff, I just shotgunned quests, and then realized I wasn't getting conversations and quests other people were getting. Now I do check in every 2-3 quest completes if possible, and do sometimes just run in and out of the lighthouse via fast travel to see if anything new lights up, because the lamp won't re-light unless you leave the LH, even if there's already another conversation queued up.

And I even check in when no lamp is lit wherever a companion's marker is around since sometimes there's just fun scripted bits of monologue or dialogue between companions.

#I usually try to clear out a region of current quests and then go back#which usually evens out to every 3-4 quests#I also will bounce between the lighthouse and some other locations when I think the companions have more to do#just to trigger their conversations and quests

Like many others, I'm sick to my stomach, upset, and disgusted by the results. I can't do much, but I've donated to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund, and I'm planning on donating to various other charities aiding those most hurt by this election in the coming days.

I'd encourage anyone else who is financially able to consider doing so as well.
