hii, i hope this is not weird to ask or it's been asked before just ignore this ask haha, but what are your personal favourite maiko headcanons if you have any? <3
*cracks knuckles* TIME TO GUSH ABOUT MAIKO
some of my favorite maiko headcanons plus a few headcanons of my own:
- mai being taller. alternatively, zuko eventually getting taller, but there being a period in their childhood where mai hit a growth spurt first and was taller than him (and azula and ty lee)
- zuko plans a grand proposal, it fails spectacularly in some fashion, and mai is the one who ends up proposing in quiet
- zuko loves brushing mai's hair and though he never gets it perfect he tries really hard to learn how to pin it up into her signature buns. mai loves when he brushes her hair and appreciates his efforts to style it correctly
- it's basically canon, but i love that they were together or had at least confessed their feelings to each other before zuko got banished
- zuko often initiates pda, much to mai's mild embarrassment (of course she secretly loves it); mai is more likely to initiate physical affection in private
- zuko obviously has a jealous streak a mile long; mai's jealousy tends to present itself quietly (zuko likes it when she gets jealous not because of his possessiveness so much as that he likes how mai tends to be overly affectionate with him during those periods while her jealousy is running high)
- it was difficult for them to conceive; mai took it hard and blamed herself, no matter how much zuko tried to dissuade her. when they found out she was pregnant they both cried and just held each other for a while
- mai tried to teach zuko knife-throwing when they were kids. he was pretty terrible at it but kept at it mostly because he wanted a) to spend more time with mai and b) to impress her
- mai hated dancing for a long time because her parents insisted she learn it for ladylike/royal/upper class/etc. purposes, but she enjoys dancing with zuko in private (she still doesn't like doing it in public much but it's okay because aang will dance with zuko in her stead)
- any young!maiko headcanon is god tier in my eyes
- zuko loves when mai gently kisses his scars, both the one from ozai and the one from azula
- mai hates crying in front of people, and as a result if she ends up crying in front of zuko she tends to bury her face in his chest so he can't see her face; zuko will just hold her as tightly as he can in response
- ultimate fire lord and fire lady. enough said
- zuko thinks mai is so gorgeous it's almost embarrassing. like sometimes he gets so overwhelmed he has to lie down.
- they were each other's first kisses. any variation of this concept is automatically perfect
