From Shoshannah's cameo! I trimmed the beginning since it was more personal, but I wanted to share this part :) She is, as always, a sweetie. A transcription:

I also heard that you are sad that Eileen didn't meet Sam in the finale. Well I always try to see the silver linings in things. And one thing that came out of that is that I felt the love there was out there for Eileen so much after that point. I was just so... it felt almost overwhelming in a very positive way. I was lucky enough to feel the support before but after the finale it was just... wow. So maybe if Eileen did get to see Sam I wouldn't get to feel that. So maybe things work out. Not in the way you expect them ot but the way they're supposed to. As it does in life! And I know you're going to have a great one just seeing the roots you have with your family. That seems to amazing to me. I really appreciate being able to make this Cameo for you!

"I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a deaf person kick ass the way that Eileen does and I’ve certainly never played that before. Deaf or disabled people are usually the victim, not the one who rescues. The fact that she is such a viable love interest is not insignificant either. So many times people don’t see people with disabilities as feasible relationship material. Because of that they’re often desexualized and written off, especially in that particular sort of way, but it’s something that is so central to the human experience, and it’s something that people deserve to have if they’re so inclined. And so the fact that the main character of the show is interested in a deaf woman in that way is something that I believe is the opposite of reductive. It’s enhancing, not just for the a character, but for young people with disabilities in the audience. I hope they see themselves the way that Sam sees Eileen and realize that they can, should, and will be seen that way by people that are important to them and to the world, because that carries an inordinate amount of weight."

I was trying to think this way too. I just think he didn't do a very good job at it. I think his stans will still perceive him as a saint & that the side cast didn't deserve his generosity & he deserved better. It made the situation maybe a little more awkward bc he wasn't tagged, mentioned at all. He wasn't following her until after he posted the comment. He has never done it before. But I am still trying to think there were positive intentions on his end.

Yeah, I get this feeling, this whole thing is awkward (tbh, I usually find Jared's posts and replies kinda awkward when I see them, but it may very well be a bias at this point). He was always going to be praised as a benevolent unfairly slighted saint by that crowd, whatever he said, because they do that every time, that's just how their lane works. It's not something he can control at this point, even if he wanted to, I think.

I also think there weren't really a course of action for Jared that wouldn't look weird, precisely because of what you said: Shoshannah didn't tag him, they never interacted on SM before, no one even thought about him until these gremlins appeared in the comments. All this puts him in a no win position. If he ignored the situation, it would be seen as him throwing Shoshannah under the bus, because we all know from previous instances that harassment wouldn't stop. At the same time, commenting either makes it seem like he needs to make everything to be about himself or exposes an obvious damage control. He could, maybe, just like that post or ask stans to stop on his own page. But with the first option, everyone would still notice he never did that before and is trying to stop the fire, plus it could be interpreted in bad faith as passive agression, both by his stans and haters. Asking people to stop would bring more attention to the whole situation and invite more wankery; also, what would he actually say, "my ex-castmate, which I don't really interact with, posted a photo without me and didn't tag me in her post; dear fans, pls stop attacking her over that, I'm not upset"? That's just embarrassing.

I don't really feel bad for Jared because he had a hand in making his fandom act like this, and I understand other fans' annoyance with him at this point. But I actually believe he had good intentions, and IMO, it would be better for everyone to just ignore him and his stans in that post, at least to not complicate the situation for Shoshannah.

Let's be real, folks, by commenting on Shoshannah's post, Jared is trying to diffuse this situation. He had to comment to show that everything is fine, his feelings aren't actually hurt and his stans don't need to jump to his defence. We all know they wouldn't back off if he haven't showed up. Unlike prequel-gate, he didn't send them after his friends, I bet he didn't even know what was going on at first. Yes, it's performative and the whole situation is the result of him repeatedly using fans as the attack dogs in the past, but this time he's trying to help.

shoshannah7: I guess a big #supernatural day was yesterday. Missed it (so bad at social media these days) but this picture came up on my phone today. I’d forgotten about it. What I do remember is we were laughing and happy. There were a lot of days like that. #spnfamily 🤟 (x)
