Some of my miniature posts have been blowing up today. Made me realize I haven’t posted more recent additions to my collection in a while so here’s as many as tumblr will let me put in one post.
My flesh eaters now have a dreadnought. Very proud of how he turned out. I wanted to have him magnetized so I can swap his minigun for a plasma canon without fully committing to either. Decided against it since I had the wrong size magnets and the process was more work than it was worth.
Today I finished Apothecary Tygus of the Flesh Eaters. Don’t think that’s the canon name of any apothecaries within the flesh eaters, just the name I chose. Took a little under two hours to complete. The space marine he’s standing on was chewed up by the family dog which is what gave me the idea to buy an apothecary at all. Dog won’t claim any more marines. They’re secured inside carry cases now.
More flesh eaters! Need a gun metal with better coverage! Otherwise my plan of priming in mephiston red, basing gray and metal areas, then shading, then applying white markings worked perfectly!
Painted up my Noise Marine. I like how his hair turned out the most. Also the lightning on his blue leg. One marine down from a modest pile of shame.
The last of my combat patrol’s infantry is now painted. Avatus, Chief Librarian to the Sons of Ouroban. Really proud of this one. Probably my best mini yet. Certainly the best of my current space marines. Don’t know when I’ll get around to building or painting the impulsor.
More sons of Ouroban have been painted. These chaps all came from the blood angels combat patrol box. The repulser is still not assembled, and the librarian also remains unpainted. My plans for his colors are different from the baseline battle brothers shown here so he’ll be done later.
Really should’ve done these guys in sub assemblies. I bought blue tac, but I didn’t use it. Would’ve really helped painting the many hard to reach places. Will remember to use the stuff for future marines.
Also the bases are unpainted because I want to possibly use a different texture paint for them. So i’m conserving the aggrellan badlands pot I have:
I have done it. I have recreated one of my most enduring OCs as a Warhammer 40k mini. Doctor Scientist.
The basis for this model was that of a biophagus from the genestealer cults. The original arms were removed, replaced by an autogun and power maul from the neophyte hybrids kit. But since doctor scientist doesn’t like ballistic guns, the barrel of the gun was severed and replaced with a lasgun barrel. Then the magazine was cut away and replaced by a spare plasma battery from my primaris hellblasters. His backpack was also sourced from that kit.
After all that he was painted up in colors directly inspired by the enclave scientists of Fallout 3. Really proud of how clean the white turned out.
More improvements to my guardsmen who’re going to be played as Brood Brothers in a genestealer cult. Covered their faces in putty, painted it silver to make riot helmot visors, and gave all the guns, ammo packs, and the back of the helmets little green lights. The cultists not wearing guardsmen armor also got green lights on their lasguns, as well as yellow lights for their shoulder lamps.
Forgot to post these way sooner. Genestealer cult miniatures, painted in my “Order of The Infinite Coil” scheme. The basic lore behind them being that their cults patriarch was found and slain by my chapter of space marines. With the cult’s broodmind snuffed, all the hybrids regained free will and independent thought, and all the purestrain genestealers became ravenous animals. Once the dust settled, and all the purestrains were slain, the hybrids were inducted by the space marines to serve as auxiliaries and repent for the misdeeds performed as slaves to their deceased patriarch.
Tried my best to make their autoguns look like an industrial pattern of lasgun. Namely by snipping the barrels and replacing the magazines with plasma canisters sourced from the unused backpack units from my hellblasters kit. One of the heavy weapons hybrids is also equipped with a plasma incinerator as I didn’t want to use either of the other heavy guns provided. The guardsmen are meant to stand-in as brood brothers. The lore reason for the diffence in equipment is that some hybrids can’t fit in surplus-bought guard armor so they’re given equally protective hazardous-environments gear typically worn by more treacherous genestealer cults.
I didn’t like how only one of my space marines was a flesh eater when I plan to have an army of flesh eaters. So I stripped ‘em down and today have finished the first of my two squads in the proper colors.
Because I’m not a surgeon, the symbol on their shoulders looks a little different between each marine. Still works out fine though because of how ork-ish the thing looks. Also gave them all different “words of power” on their other shoulder. Very proud of my works on these carmine crusaders
A primaris intercessor, in armor colored like Fallout’s T-51b power armor, and bearing the Brotherhood of Steel’s insignia on his shoulder. Freehanding’s fuckin’ hard, but worth it.
The last of my primaris hellblasters, painted in a wonderfully patriotic red white and blue. Very proud of how he turned out.
Flesh eaters Primaris Hellblaster!
The penultimate marine of the 10 I currently own. The blood angels are my favorite chapter of space marines, and the flesh eaters are my favorite of their successor chapters, even if though I first learned of them from a fan animation.
The chapter symbol was a pain to free hand, but it was so worth it. Should I collect more models in the future, I will be making a fighting force of Primaris Flesh Eaters accompanied by auxiliary units of guardsmen and possibly even sisters of battle. Just a big crimson force of humanity’s finest purging xenos and turning them into burgers.
Space X Marine!
Was originally going to be a desert camo marine but Space X is having a historic launch today. Looks nice. Kept the base white and grey to resemble a lunar surface. Also took some metallic flakes from the bottom of the container I use to clean my brushes and brushed it all over the armor. Adds a very nice yet very subtle sparkle effect
Military green Primaris Hellblaster!
Very simple scheme, still took a while to do (like 2-3 hours). Opted for an orange glow in the gun and eyes because this color reminds me of the big robots you fight in the original destroy all humans
Red Legion colored Primaris Hellbalster!
Very proud of this. The pain from freehanding the shoulder’s logo makes me NOT want to make an army of marines painted like this. Not without a stencil of some kind to consistently place the logo where ever I want. Tried using masking tape with the logo cut out, but it didn’t work that well.
I’m also pretty proud of how my attempt at making a glow effect on the plasma coils turned out.
