Introducing the High Flier Exchange!
The High Flier Exchange will run in early 2025 (prompts out in January, deadline in March or April). It will be a multifandom exchange involving fanworks about anyone who can fly (in a plane, by themselves, via spiderwebs, in air or in space. You get the idea. Hey, don't knock our theme, we're trying our best here). You'll receive your prompts at least 2 months in advance to give you plenty of time to write/draw/create something your giftee will love.
Please fill out the survey if you are interested in participating! The main purpose of this survey is gauging how many people from each fandom want to participate and what types of works you all want to create.
This is a survey, not a signup -- it's non-binding. So if you aren't sure if you'll be able to take part, go ahead and fill it out anyway. If you have any questions, check out the FAQ below, then drop a line in our ask box or reach out via DM.

I can’t really post the true last lines, because they’re smutty, so you’ll get the second best ones!
When he turns back to face her, her eyes are wide, clearly starting to clue into the fact that something's up. "What's going on, sir?"
He'd really like her to stop calling him that. "I had a chat with Dad while we were doing recon on the Jaffa."
She sits up a little straighter, and when she speaks there's a note of alarm in her voice. "About what?"
Here goes nothing. "About when we were mistaken for zat'arcs. He knows about us."
"There is no us," she says, but it comes out half-strangled.
"Yeah, believe me, I tried that argument. But seeing as the machine apparently recorded everything, that’s not exactly going to work anymore, is it?"
She presses her hands to her face. "Oh my god."
The words are muffled, so he can't tell if she's mortified or angry.
"Carter-"
He stops talking when she gets up, walks around to the back of the couch, and starts pacing. He still can't get a good look at her face when she demands, "What did he say, exactly?"
Well, at least she's not calling him sir anymore. "Oh, just that he knew we had feelings for each other. And then he basically called me a coward."
She stops short at that, turning toward him, face flushed. "I'm so sorry. That was incredibly out of line," she says, resuming her pacing. "I'll talk to him the next time he's on Earth and get him to apologize and promise never to-"
"Carter, he was right."
She halts again, practically gapes at him. If they were talking about anything else, he might laugh at the fact that, for once, he'd confounded her. "We need to talk about this."
She sucks in a breath. "I don't know how to talk about this with you."
Hearing that hurts a little, because it’s a reminder of the damage the silence between them has done. "Don't you think that's a problem?"
"It's never been before!" And that might have hurt more if not for the tremor in her voice, and for some reason that calms him.

This wip is currently titled, "this ficlet brought to you by Freddie Freeman and Kirk Gibson’s mustache in the 1988 WS." Yeah, it's a baseball AU. Yes, it's also like the 45th sports AU in my wips, I stopped keeping track a long time ago.
“Ms. Carter, I don't have a problem with you. I have a problem with analytics. A bunch of damn numbers can't replace experience.” Jack crossed his arms. “Maybe you don't know, but I happen to have a lot of that.” “I know who you are.” A smile played at the corners of her mouth. “Excuse me?” “I know who you are,” she repeated. She sat straight and met his eyes. “Jack O'Neill, two-time All-Star, two time AL batting champion. 0.815 OPS, 38.4 WAR. Not to mention the homer that they play on every World Series highlight reel.” Jack sat back. Well then. A baseball nut, he could handle. Even if she was a geek. Sam Carter raised one eyebrow. “That enough baseball for you? Or do you need me to take some pitches?”

Hello :) exchange anon again! (No need to apologize BTW ♥️♥️) that makes complete sense, and no pressure <3 to answer your question tho, I would absolutely love a specifically SJ exchange! Do you think there would be enough people signed up tho? Just a sg1 exchange would be good too, to maybe broaden interest more than strictly SJ but too make it less of a demand on you than Anything Stargate haha (but if you think a SJ exchange would get enough signups, totally go for that hehe)

Hey anon! I honestly have no clue how many signups there would be, but last time people almost exclusively requested a fic for the same ship they wrote for -- all the SJ people wrote for each other, all the DJ people wrote for each other, all the Sheppard/McKay people wrote for each other, etc. So theoretically it would totally be possible to run an SJ-only exchange with equal or less work than the SG winter fic exchange.
Since you sent in your ask the idea has definitely been percolating in my mind, because I love running fandom events. I keep telling myself I don't have time, which is true, and that I'm not really active in SJ fandom anymore, which is also true. But my brain likes new shiny things. So we'll see -- maybe I'll revisit the idea in a few months :)

hey anon! thanks so much for the ask! sorry for the delay in replying, i've been on fandom hiatus for the past few weeks.
at the moment, i have no plans to moderate another SG fic exchange, but i'd definitely consider doing one in the future! i did the last exchange at a time when i was a lot less busy irl than i am now, but if life calms down again i'd definitely consider doing it again. it was a lot of fun!
out of curiosity, what part of the fic exchange would you like to see happen? last time we included all of stargate which was....A Lot. but if you're interested in, say, sg-1 or SJ fandom events the chances of me doing a fandom event in those spaces are a lot higher :)

I had the weirdest Stargate dream last night
It was set in SGU era, except SG1 had all retired years ago and were, like, living the good life at Jack's cabin. Together? Sort of? I think Jack and Sam were living in the main cabin and Teal'c and Daniel had their own cabins nearby or something.
And then Daniel came back from a vacation somewhere (maybe DC??) and was really alarmed because...something idiotic was happening in space. Idk. Anyway, he shows up at Sam and Jack's doorstep and the four of them are talking about how they have to do something. Then (and I remember this part very clearly) the conversation goes something like this
Daniel: We're SG1, we have to do something
Jack: Who's gonna listen to us? Look at us! *Gestures around*
Daniel: Well, maybe we need to go convince them
*Sam and Jack exchange worried glances*
Jack: you do that. What do you want me to do?!
Daniel: *looks pointedly at Jack, scruffy, unkempt, and eating a donut* Shave.
Cue a montage of the team getting ready, while humorous music plays
Sam's packing up books (why?? Idk it's a dream)
Teal'c is changing from a Hawaiian shirt to... something....and shaving his (very long now) hair
Daniel is struggling to fit into that suit from Torment of Tantalus
And Jack...this is the part I remember clearest. Jack is standing in front of a large bathroom mirror, shaving.
With his dress blues ALREADY ON.
He flicks shaving cream all over them, notices, and looks down. Frowns. The music stops.
"SAAAAM!"
Sam appears. "What--"
She catches sight of Jack, sighs, and strips him until he's just in a white undershirt (where does that even come from??)
Sam leaves and the music starts up again as Jack finishes shaving.
Cut to the four of them standing outside the cabin, all fancy and ready to...do something? Barge into the Oval Office?
And then the dream ended.
So apparently, in my sleep I somehow witnessed an alternate universe where canon ended SO MUCH BETTER. Comedy is the best
dammit, I’m already working on turning @warrenwaskilledbyadeer ‘s Stargate dream into fanfiction! Ya’ll need to stop dreaming cause I can’t keep up!
WHY DO I LOVE THIS SO MUCH IT’S SO PERFECT
(fun fact, all dress blues have a mandatory, regulation white under shirt underneath them. The blue short sleeve shirts are very scratchy, and if you have a ribbon rack attached to them it pokes your skin without an undershirt. Source: family in the Air Force)

May 14, 2024 No view of these Northern Lights, but growing up in Minnie we'd see them all the time. Up north at the Lake we'd float out in the wee, little rowboat 🚣 on to the Lake, and just lie in silent repose against the life jackets staring up and out to the undulating curtains of color & light that quietly excited the air… Witnessed several times whilst in Alaska... Very bright showing up yonder, reflecting and refracting via airborne crystalline powdered snow..... etc. I'm a big fan of Madame Borealis and the kids ~ I call her Aurora, because we are so intimate. (sigh) Speaking of intimate: Here's a brief peek at two of the finest friends money can't buy. The smartest, funniest, 'in-tune' person of the female persuasion with whom I have ever had the privilege to work, play, and simply KNOW. Time with 'manda is complete with laughter (LOTS 'n LOTS of...) ~ parent-talk (our daughters are OK by us), 'smart talk' (by our own definition), and some rather middle-of-the-road fine dining. We think we have the potential to be pretty cool.... But that's just our opinion!!
