Hey anon! I honestly have no clue how many signups there would be, but last time people almost exclusively requested a fic for the same ship they wrote for -- all the SJ people wrote for each other, all the DJ people wrote for each other, all the Sheppard/McKay people wrote for each other, etc. So theoretically it would totally be possible to run an SJ-only exchange with equal or less work than the SG winter fic exchange.

Since you sent in your ask the idea has definitely been percolating in my mind, because I love running fandom events. I keep telling myself I don't have time, which is true, and that I'm not really active in SJ fandom anymore, which is also true. But my brain likes new shiny things. So we'll see -- maybe I'll revisit the idea in a few months :)

hey anon! thanks so much for the ask! sorry for the delay in replying, i've been on fandom hiatus for the past few weeks.

at the moment, i have no plans to moderate another SG fic exchange, but i'd definitely consider doing one in the future! i did the last exchange at a time when i was a lot less busy irl than i am now, but if life calms down again i'd definitely consider doing it again. it was a lot of fun!

out of curiosity, what part of the fic exchange would you like to see happen? last time we included all of stargate which was....A Lot. but if you're interested in, say, sg-1 or SJ fandom events the chances of me doing a fandom event in those spaces are a lot higher :)

I'm horrible at responding to asks quickly, anon - sorry! You probably sent this in months ago at this point.

Anyway, it's pretty obvious that I hate seasons 9 and 10 too. For me, mostly it's because they make me sad and/or angry, but I also see a lot of plot holes that bug me.

I think there are a lot of interpretations of Grace, I do like the idea of it being their kid but I'm also on board with the idea of it just being Sam's inner child. :)

It's like Jack's departure of SG1. There was no Goodbye, no thanks even if he was the heart of the show I mean he didn't even share a last scene with his team. It's a huge disrespect for the character and the actor. It's a real shame because the writers act like their departure wasn't a big deal. Anyway I am not that surprised because I stopped NCIS after Tony last ep. The writting is not the same and the humor is long gone.

Agree - I binged through s13 and then have only seen episodes that interested me since Tony leaving.

In a way it's worse than Jack's departure. At least in SG-1, season 8 gave us some closure for all four of them. The Reckoning/Threads/Moebius arc is a good sendoff, and lets us just ignore the rest of it.

With NCIS, it sorta feels like we took a precipitous drop from the not-as-good-but-still-fun season 17 to the WTF seasons 18-19. And there wasn't much closure in s17, or what I watched of it, since they were assuming they'd continue on.

Obviously, this one came out of me being mad...again...about Jack being transferred to DC. Yes, yes, it makes sense and all that, yes there were production reasons, but I like my shows with happy unrealistic endings. Or no endings at all. (This is why I love Star Trek TNG's last ep.)

It's a sorta-humorous take on the whole thing, because that's most of what I write and I do fully acknowledge the ridiculousness of my anger over this topic. 😂

I think the best answer for this is probably Letters to Archie. It's intentional Cam-hate fic, and I've never seen seasons 9 and 10 in full. Plus, I don't even hate Cam. He's just the poor guy who bears the brunt of my season 9-10 hate.

But Chapter 3 is one of my favorites of the things I've written. So...yeah, I don't much care. :)

Something you hate to see in smut.

Oh, damn. I have a list of bad smut words. Of course, that being said, I will still read smut with these words if I like the rest of it enough. But here are a bunch of words I hate to see, off the top of my head: lover, member, dewy, petal, anything being the color of the woman's lips, ministration, and I am missing SO many.

What's your fandom's most overused trope?

If we're talking Sam/Jack fandom, it's gotta be "aliens made them do it", right? I want to run the numbers on this.

(Oh: also, in NCIS fic, Ziva bashing is shockingly common. Stop bashing my baby! Or keep bashing her, but thank you for your continued use of relevant tags. Seriously, tagging it is great. Thanks!)

I totally agree. I have sorta mixed feelings about Kate because she is cruel to Tony sometimes, and I love Tony....but I also love Kate.

But honestly, I really would have been interested in how they might have re-done Kate's character in s3 if Sasha Alexander had stayed on. I mean, I love Ziva, but I wonder how Kate would have grown up if she hadn't died. Because they all grow up/change a little from s2 to s3 (okay, I'm being kind by calling it growing up rather than changing characterization) but anyway. I would have liked to see that.

Also, I want more than one strong female character? Ahem.

And yes. McGee should have named his daughter Kate, that would have been awesome!

Yeah, Shanks had a definite "diva" stage. I do think he was tired of playing "geeky" Daniel and left for greener pastures in s6, but of course the fans loved Daniel so much that they got him back for s7. I don't know how much say he had in where the character went in s7-8, but I definitely agree that there's a Shanks flavor to post-RDA SG-1.

It should be said that I have no inside knowledge, and this is just stuff I've read/been told/guessed at. But yeah, I agree with you. I'll always be grateful that he portrayed Daniel so well early on, but the fame definitely went to his head for a time.

I think that in canon, lots of fans realize that it’s probably pretty unlikely that they had time to have biological kids. Between Sam being on Atlantis, on the Hammond, etc., she’s clearly away a lot.

However, that doesn’t mean they haven’t adopted! And, of course, never say never--like you mention, they don’t show Sam and Jack outside of a “work capacity” at all post-Threads, so who knows. :) (If you want a more “canon” perspective, polrobin has some great fics with S/J adopting kids at https://archiveofourown.org/users/Polrobin/pseuds/Polrobin)

Of course, there’s also the MASSIVE contingent of shippers who think Grace in the eponymous episode is Sam and Jack’s kid. So...yes. We do think about it. I personally love that Jack loves kids. :)

In general, there are a TON of fics about S and J having kids, if you want to read some of those. Several are canon-divergent out of necessity, but there are all sorts. @amaradangeli​ and the folks on GateWorld put together a GIANT list of S/J children in fanfiction back in 2012 at https://forum.gateworld.net/stargate-fandom/fan-fiction/88486-list-of-sam-and-jack-s-children-in-fanfiction. (Some of the ones on Heliopolis are regrettably lost, but you might be able to find them through Google).

In terms of more recent fics...off the top of my head:
