I know this makes no sense but my mind went to shambles at the 3 am though of what if as pucci leaves a disc on a dying person or he creates a memory disc of a dead person and leaves it in the dying body, as the memory slowly dies and goes away(it just disappears right?) even if you get that disc out, those memories won't come back and you'll be left with a memory disc with a chunk of the memories in it gone. (the longer you leave it in the body, the more memories die and get forgotten forever essentially I guess)
So now this ties in with the scene with Jotaro's disc in Anasui's dying body as the memory disc dies out, and this is where I got the 3am idea from.
So imagine a scenario where Jolyne finally sends in Joot's memory disc but a chunk of it is gone from the whole pucci, anasui swamp thing, and Jotaro just wakes up with a good chunk of his memory missing. I don't know what chunk of memory his missing or how much but this has been stuck in my head ever since I watched that part
(...which has been quite a while...so I might be remembering the whole anasui situation wrong.....)
OOOOOOOOOO THAT COULD BE SO FUN AND ANGSTY TO PLAY WITH
If I'm remembering the scene correctly, I'm pretty sure the disc started kinda. Dusting away so this could absolutely happen and has SO much room for angst
and just. What if Jotaro doesn't even realise there are memories missing to begin with. It doesn't feel like there are gaping holes it's just...... like it was never there to begin with. And Jotaro doesn't have time to debate or question this, he's got a daughter to save!
and like. It doesn't stop how the whole time he has this feeling that Something Is Wrong. He acts in a way that's different from his memories, but he doesn't know why he's acting"differently" because it feels so natural
but of course, in the end he doesn't even have time to figure out why :)
