So. Magical Girl AU. 2 ideas. First one is one I've touched upon very briefly before, but I love the idea of Weather's initial rage not simply being darkness but instead an overwhelming light, that relentlessly burns and destroys/ensnails anything near him. The darkness that overtook him actually calmed him, sealing that destructive light away. (Also maybe the dark was tied to Perla somehow idk.)

Then Pucci showed up and misread the situation completely. So now not only is Weather devoid of dark, he also is lacking in light as well, since that's still sealed away.

And when some light enters him again, and weakens that seal... well. Nobody liked what happened after that.

2nd idea: Perhaps those possessed by darkness look a little... off. Unless their modus operandi depends on going unnoticed, like Kira, they have some feature that twists their appearance, different for each person, and growing more pronounced the longer their body remains darkened. I imagine this would make the part 5 and 6 designs very interesting. :)

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

tbh, this AU is rotating really hard in my head and this is P E R F E C T

for the first part, I had an idea to both make it better and worse :>

so as I mentioned before, humans and most Earth Creatures in this are naturally born as beings of Light. However, what if while they can be corrupted by outside sources of Darkness, it's also somewhat..... natural, so to speak. Pain, fear, anger, even apathy, those feelings all make it a bit easier for Darkness to be inside them, but in healthy small amounts. Light meanwhile has more to do with emotions like happiness, determination, justice and can drive it back.........

so what if before his memories were taken, Weather completely gave into his newly unlocked Light. His Light that was once righteous and warm because burning and scalding, driving away the Darkness that would've been the balm to soothe his grief

Pucci (albeit accidentally and unintentionally) giving him this all powerful Light in the middle of his grief took away his ability to process his feelings and what had happened with Perla. These feelings toward tragedy are natural, healthy even, and necessary for the healing process. Instead, Weather got a bright, powerful but uncontrollable Light forced upon him that he didn't know how to use. He was a Magical Girl yes, and he wasn't necessarily a corrupted one, but that's simply because the Light burned too strong and bright to let it

The Light wanted justice, and in this case it was very close to vengeance. Perla was innocent and kind, and these people were hardly good. Perhaps they themselves were corrupted with Darkness, and Weather's own Light reacted to fight back, to protect, to try so desperately to keep him and what little he had left safe. The Light made him tunnel vision so much he didn't notice those getting caught in the crossfire nor the way his own body was slowly burning inside out. Didn't notice how his grief and anger and sadness where suddenly nonexistent beyond the desire to Do Good And Help By Getting Rid Of The Threat

Pucci awakening his power nearly spelt the end for Weather's life, had it gone for a few more hours

maybe that's also why Pucci brought him to Green Dolphin, hoping that the oppressive and constant Darkness will keep the seals firmly shut

this also raises the fun possibility of Jolyne And Co healing him not with Light like they usually have but with Darkness. Maybe Emporio could help here since he's been exposed to so much that it's basically a permanent part of him now, and in the process it helps balance himself out. They almost swap the excess power they have and finally get to be at peace

(also, I think for this bit I had a fun idea for the rain imagery. This whole time Weather is practically glowing, radiating Light constantly and the longer it goes one the more he begins to burn. His skin begins to crack in places, his eyes lighten to white, his hair begins to grow black at the tips and curl like it's been set on fire

((Actually hey what if Weather's hair is white because the overwhelming light from that one time basically bleached his hair))

but then....... when it's finally over. When they manage to douse the flames the overwhelming Light has brought, to give him Darkness to let him finally feel........ it gets cloudy and rains and finally Weather gets the chance to cry)

And shifting gears for the second idea, OF COURSE

Limbs and nails and teeth that are a bit too long or numerous, eyes that are a bit too vivid or have colored sclera, patches of skin that don't look quite right like instead they're scaled or leathery or just the completely wrong color, hair that seems to defy physics or sway in a nonexistent wind or not be completely made of hair at all, voices that have strange qualities and echoes to them, etc etc :)

Giorno and Emporio both grow up surrounded by those traits 24/7 and kinda got desensitized to it all. If anything, this is how people look and are supposed to be. To them, if someone looks normal they're an even bigger threat because that means either a) they're a trap and trying to get you to lower your guard and/or b) they're powerful enough to hide

Oh man this is making me think about some of the corrupted humans. Like, Anasui! Imagine it, you're just some normal guy hanging out with your girlfriend who you love very much. You step out to get some groceries, and some shadowy jackass kidnaps you. You fall unconscious.

The next time you wake up, you feel... Different. Angry in a way you can't quite make out. You see some lights coming towards you and you reel back, hissing. 'Threat', a voice that isn't yours echoes inside your mind. 'Attack. Destroy.'

Some small part of you hopes that the lights are able to defeat you. But they can't. They're sloppy and disorganized and one keeps trying to attack you, recklessly. Annoyingly.

You grab it by the throat and squeeze. You ignore its wheezing and screaming and pleading. You squeeze from the outside and the inside.

It's only when the warmth from the light fades that the fog from your mind does. You aren't holding a light, you're holding a magical girl.

You look at the magical girl's face and see your beloved girlfriend, the one you had a ring picked out for back home, staring back at you lifelessly.

This time you don't fall into the darkness of unconsciousness. You dive in.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

YESYESYESYESYESYESYES

okay okay hear me out for the angst:

what if Anasui knew his girlfriend was a Magical Girl

they'd been dating for years, so of course she'd told him. MG identities are kept secret, but there's always the risk of being in a relationship with someone who had a secret identity and regularly fought evil

they thought they knew the risks. Anasui thought he'd accepted what it meant, to be a weak spot, to be targeted, to possibly be used against her

he'd always believed she'd be strong enough though. She had a good group to work with, and sure they were young and a bit inexperienced and made mistakes but at the end of the day they got the job done

he never thought how the one they fought being someone they knew would make things harder. Never thought how much him being their enemy would throw them off

and in the end that was their downfall, and he could only bury himself in the Darkness since at least then it drowned out the memories

at least, until years later when he's locked up behind bars with others like him and he suddenly one day gets dragged out of that dark pit kicking and screaming into a warm, beautiful Light and the first thing he sees is a woman's face. She doesn't look like his girlfriend in the slightest, angry determination but also soft kindness in the place of tearful panic and terror, a bright blue and neon green outfit with jagged lines and spiderwebbed patterns instead of fluffy frilly pinks and purples and yellows fading away to gray

and Anasui finally breathes

(also, this might just be personal preference, but I can see Anasui's interest in Jolyne being less romantic here. He's still absolutely obsessed with her and sees her as this paragon of goodness, but the grief and pain from his girlfriend are honestly still a bit too fresh. He's only just now able to process his grief and work through it, and to him it's too soon to want another relationship. He's still practically falling over himself to be near her and help her with what she needs tho)

Oooooooooooo that's a fun idea

maybe the whole "theme" of her group's powers and villains had to do with animals in general, and for the cruel irony of it all that's why Anasui became what he did

and I'll admit, I do want to give him something related to Diver Down's abilities, so what if his "power" is related to diving into and out of Shadows. Like a predator creeping through the dark

of course, he can't do this while imprisoned. There's likely a bunch of security measures and anti-magic stuff (or maybe instead anti-Dark since then that could be why Jolyne is still able to heal stuff with her Light) to prevent the prisoners from just....... breaking out

I love the mental image of Anasui looking like a really fucked up werewolf, like. I wanna take the canon design and throw it even further :)

Oh shit, open ask box??? Woo! I've had this idea bouncing around for a while;

Magical Girls Stardust Crusaders

Like we already have a five person team, animal sidekick, abilities that are otherwise supernatural. No transformations, but that can be arranged :)

Stands can be their magical girl forms :D

Avatar

DFHVDFVJDFBJD

Stardust Crusaders isn't even a Crusade this time, it's just Jotaro realizing he's now a Magical Girl and has to deal with Dio's bullshitery plaguing his town

also I just. Absolutely adore the mental image of Jotaro in a super flowy, pretty Magical Girl Dress™. It's his ass kicking outfit and anyone who tries giving him shit for it gets their asses promptly pummeled into the concrete. One Does Not Simply Insinuate Star Platinum Can't Rock His Outfit, and after he's been around for a few months the locals are just as defensive about it

him slowly building a team is entirely by accident. Joseph used to be a magical girl Back In The Day and when he finds out he does what he can to mentor and help Jotaro so he's not going in blind. Avdol was a friend of Joseph's he called in as backup just in case. Kakyoin (and later Polnareff) were swayed to their side with the Power Of Violence Friendship.

Maybe part of Dio's thing this time is that he has two types of minions. The first are the characters from canon which are more powerful and willingly on his side, and then there are the innocent people who get mind controlled/corrupted and jazz. Or maybe those minions aren't people at all and thus much less capable

also fast forwarding a decent amount in the timeline, I like to imagine that in DiU Jotaro ends becoming like that one trope of "older retired and exhausted magical girl helping out the newer generation" just because I think it could be nice

I just had. So many ideas for this.

Iggy has the rare honor of being a Magical Girl Companion who can and will swear. Pet Shop is the Magical Girl Companion from Joseph's era who was captured and corrupted by the Forces of Darkness to deliver an emotional blow. Similarly, Tama is the companion for the DiU team until 3/4ths of the way through. FF was the corrupted companion for the Stone Ocean crew but they managed to purify them.

GW isn't originally about Magical Girls because in Italy, the Forces of Darkness Pretty Much Won. Then Giorno just looks at the whole operation, goes 'is anyone gonna purify that?' And didn't wait for an answer. The Bucci gang manage to find Coco Jumbo, who is the last remaining Companion in the country. He's their goal this time, and Trish only gets involved due to being the last BonaFide Magical Girl left in the country.

Ooh actually, different idea! What if she's actually friends with Giorno and the only reason he can't be a Magical Girl is because he's part Forces of Darkness, and then she and Coco Jumbo go missing and that causes Giorno to do the aforementioned 'is anyone going to purify that?' bit.

Yukako was originally going to be a Magical Girl, but then she got hit bad by the Corruption, to the extent where it still lingers even afterward. The Cinderella Arc focuses more on Aya being an ex-Magical Girl who specializes in purifying, which is why she ends up with a target on her head.

Kira was originally an unwillingly corrupted human who went under the radar for a terrifyingly long time. Then he happened across Akira who was the actual member of the forces of darkness and, well :) free power source right there. Aya manages to purify him somewhat during their battle. So the darkness that Kira pretty much is at this point kills his old body, kills Aya, and jumps ship to Kosaku. Kosaku is Suffering, being posessed by someone so amoral. He does manage to connect better with Shinobu somewhat after Kira's dealt with and everything's settled, though, so small silver lining there.

Stone Ocean is an example of what happens whan a Magical Girl who specializes in Purification decides to Stop Giving a Fuck About Holding Back and Being The Sweet One. Jolyne is sent to some sort of prison for the unpurifiable due to some glitch in a system somewhere, looks at the sign at the front of the prison, looks at Ermes, purifies Ermes, and gives the camera the middle finger. (Pucci, who was using the prison for Free Dark Energy, is panicking because these ones are supposed to be unpurifyable, what the fuck-)

SKJEFDBVHJEBRHJVCBEJRVEA W H E E Z E

Y E S TO EVERY SINGLE THING ABOUT THIS

Good for Iggy tbh, and just YES with all the animal stuff, absolutely adore that

I am OBSESSED with your thoughts for Golden Wind too. What if Potential Magical Girls also experience a kind of Gravity, which is why and how Trish and Giorno befriended each other. Coco is Trish's beloved pet turtle and the two don't even realise they have access to Light Magic but when they do it's a VERY closely kept secret between them. They don't even tell Trish's mom out of fear of her getting hurt. They know exactly how much danger the two could be in if anyone find out, but they promise that someday when they're old enough they'll fix Italy and purify the place that's been deemed a lost cause by the rest of the world

and an idea for Giorno, what if he's in a weird limbo of Force Of Good/Force of Evil. He can technically manipulate both kinds of energy, but he has to be REALLY careful about how much he uses because his whole existence is a balancing act and leaning too much into either side could have some really bad consequences. Too much light magic could eradicate all the dark in him and kill him that way, but too much dark will just lead to him getting corrupted which nobody wants

Because of this, he can't really use magic in the traditional way, and actually transforming scares him because they don't know exactly what it'll do. He can purify things tho!...... just, not in the usual way. What he more or less does is manipulate the Darkness to leave the vessel, then use the Light to purify and get rid of it. If it perfect? No, and if Giorno gets interrupted before he can finish the whole process it could tip the scales, but that's a risk he's willing to take

(also a crumb of an idea to maybe play with: should Giorno ever fully tip into the Darkness, it being essentially impossible to purify him because that would get rid of his natural and necessary Darkness and just kill him)

YES to Aya being an ex-Magical Girl. Not much I can think to add, but maybe in a similar boat Tonio is ex-Magical Girl Support. His food posses super high density Light Magic which gives it healing and cleansing properties

and once again Y E S WITH KIRA. What if he got infected when he was young, like mid-teens, but took one look at all the Magical Girls Kicking Ass and decided "Hmmm. What If I Didn't" and instead of doing large scale attacks to get loads of dark energy he opted for smaller amounts of controlled darkness so he wouldn't get caught. And for even more angst...... what if the original Kira is essentially gone. He was under the darkness's control for such a long time that the "real him" doesn't even exist anymore. When Kira leaves his body..... he was just a shell left behind

and what if I just. *bonks Kosaku with some of Kira's memories of being trapped by the darkness and slowly fading away to nothingness and fearing that could happen to him* :)

also, another fun Idea for Jolyne. What if she's actually aware of the fact her dad was and still kinda is a Magical Girl™, but she specifically knows how far it's pushed him. How her dad is absolutely exhausted and just wants to Live His Life but because he got so deeply involved in magic shit he's never been able to leave it behind

maybe that's one of the biggest things he teaches her when she's growing up. That you need to place your boundaries of how much you're willing to give and you aren't a bad person for choosing to prioritise your own health and safety. Is this the best choice for the greater good? Probably not, but Jotaro has personally experienced what it's like to get sucked in so far you don't get to make that choice and like hell he's putting his daughter through that

the result? An incredibly strong Magical Girl who doesn't give a flying FUCK about the public's opinion and how she's supposed to act and in the process ends up breaking all sorts of of the preset Magic Rules

I've actually seen the designs before and you're right they're really good! I actually drew their Pucci design a while back which was super fun

and. Okay hear me out, this is my thought process for Foo:

a bunch of Magic Animal Companions in a trench coat pretending to be a Magical Girl

like. Thanks to Pucci they got corrupted with enough Darkness to gin some kind of consciousness, but when Jolyne purified them she ended up replacing the Darkness with Light so they wouldn't die. Foo decides "you know what, this humans seems Neat, lets see how I can help :)" and uses their knowledge of magical abilities to cast a sort of glamour to make them look like a Human Magical Girl

their "detransformation" is just when they don't have enough power to keep up the illusion and they look like just a writhing mass of black water

I had More Ideas!

Okay so my ideas fall into two categories. First is regarding the question, are we going the whole "darkness is inherently evil" route or "darkness can be good sometimes, it's just not good for humans"? Because the latter opens up some opportunities for a few characters. On one hand, it would provide a nice resolution for Giorno, with him settling into becoming something akin to the Gentle Dark.

On the other hand, there's Emporio, who I have trouble seeing as anything less than 90% 'being of darkness' given the circumstances of his birth in canon and what it would be in this AU.

Speaking of which, I had the idea of each member of the Stone Ocean gang being unpurifiable for different reasons. F.F. is, as mentioned, a bunch of MGCs in a trenchcoat. Anasui is your garden-variety "Got Too Dang Corrupted". Emporio is like Giorno to a much more extreme extent. Ermes accepted the darkness in order to get revenge for her sister's murder. And Weather? If he and Pucci aren't Beings of Darkness full-stop, he doesn't want to be purified because he knows that, as he is right now? He isn't nearly as destructive as he was right before the Darkness found him.

Also, to possibly continue with the theme of dark not being evil, the inverse would also probably be the case, with light not being good. So what if the reason Jolyne goes to the Prison for the Unpurifiable is because of mundane corruption in the higher echelons of whatever Magical Girl governing body there may be, if any?

...I have weird ideas.

Y E S S S S S S S S S S S S S S S S

oh I L O V E the idea of playing with just how evil Darkness can be. Maybe it's sorta like when mental illness gets bad, like a "having mental illness can make you more at risk of falling into certain behaviours or spirals, but mental illness itself is not inherently bad" type of thing. When you're Dark it's a lot harder to walk the morality line, but with a good support network and help it's not impossible

and I LOVE your thoughts for the Stone Ocean Crew, I'm putting them all in my mouth, especially Hermes, Emporio and Weather

just. Hermes quite literally making a deal with a devil just so she can get revenge for her sister. How the corruption process wasn't even that difficult or painful because of how badly she wanted that revenge, and how because of how desperately she clung to the Darkness they couldn't purify her

Emporio constantly being surrounded by Darkness for his entire life and never being able to get out of the somewhat suffocating miasma it gives him and because he's still a developing child it impacts his health and growth, even giving him long term physical side affects. Jolyne is an almost literal breath of fresh air into his life and for the first time Emporio gets to feel what Light is truly like

and I had a THOUGHT for Weather and Pucci. What if Pucci kinda..... accidentally stole all of Weather's Darkness but in a bad way. Like, because Twin Magic Bullshit, Pucci managed to figure out a way to essentially steal all the Darkness out of him which he then later managed to figure out how to do with other people to get more and more power "to attain heaven" (hence why he's in Green Dolphin, for all the free Darkness).

However, Pucci isn't purifying them. He's not getting rid of the Darkness, he's just stealing it. The corruption is all still there...... but now the victims aren't getting any power from it. It leaves them drained, exhausted, empty, and none of them even realise it because Pucci uses the Darkness to fuck with their memories

So Weather just...... drifts. He doesn't care about much because he can't care, he can barely feel anything to begin with. In fact, the only reason he hasn't died because of the long term affects of Pucci's experiments is because of the very same Twin Bond that started it. Just enough Darkness is able to leak back to him that he doesn't completely shut down, and that coupled with the lingering Darkness around the prison is enough to keep him going

The idea of Jolyne getting yote into Super Jail because of the Magical Girl Government is really funny to me and I had another possible thought to add to it

what if Pucci is a member of said Governing Body. Like, officially he's the overseeing Magical Girl in charge of the place who's supposed to make sure none of the Darkness manages to seep out into the surrounding area and to keep an eye on the prisoners to see if there's any change in their "Un-Purifiable" status. To them, he's simply a kind, intelligent and very dedicated priest with no ties to Dio whatsoever

so after he set up Jolyne to supposedly have killed a man, all it took was some rumours, a couple fudged reports of past behaviour, and some well veiled offers and she was put on a one way bus to Green Dolphin

but also separate from that, speaking of Jolyne I had another idea to kinda play more into the themes of Darkness not being Evil. What if she kinda brings people to a state similar to how Giorno was? Like, an almost exact middle of Light and Dark which allows them a complete choice of how they want to go about things, but taking away the risk that tipping into one side will kill you since full blooded humans are naturally born as Light Beings

Oh shit, open ask box??? Woo! I've had this idea bouncing around for a while;

Magical Girls Stardust Crusaders

Like we already have a five person team, animal sidekick, abilities that are otherwise supernatural. No transformations, but that can be arranged :)

Stands can be their magical girl forms :D
