AU Idea:

Koichi Hirose's Stand is a human soul reborn, just like in Joestar Platinum, only this time it's... Koichi Hirose. As in, a copy of Koichi from when he was shot with the Stand Arrow hatches from the egg as Echoes ACT 1 and proceeds to flip the fuck out.

It's only when Rohan writes "Echoes can communicate effectively with famed comic artist Kishibe Rohan" with Heaven's Door during their first encounter that Echoes!Koichi is able to finally articulate his situation to someone. Echoes temporarily betrays his user out of desperation and becomes Rohan's willing accomplice in picking apart Koichi's life to find a way to extract this "imposter."

OOOOOOOOOOOO YESSSSSSSSS

hey....... would you mind if I just. Made this the Hirose Twins AU instead. Because that AU was really going nowhere and the name works so much better for this one so-

And oh my god I’m loving this so much tho

Just. Echoes hatches and has a moment of What The Actual F U C K because that is very clearly his body and he’s not inside of it. The fight with Kobayashi has mostly the same end result because Echoes is still very protective of his family, but that’s when things start to get interesting

For one, Echoes is going to be in a weird spot of not wanting to listen to Koichi but also not wanting “his” body and friends to get hurt. He’s also going to want to be out constantly, and he’s probably going to be hanging around Josuke and Okuyasu as much as he can but would openly scorn Koichi. He’s not overtly cruel, but Koichi gets the message that Echoes doesn't like him loud and clear and would probably give his Stand as much space and freedom as he can

And honestly? This might make Echoes even more angry. That this imposter isn’t mean or cruel or even unpleasant. That he isn’t trying to destroy his life but instead perfectly replacing him so no one will notice he’s even gone, doing everything the exact way he would and saying everything he would say. It’s confusing and he hates it, but there’s nothing he can do. As for Koichi......it’s a little disheartening, to be honest. That what is essentially his own soul is rejecting him like this

The thing with Rohan is going to be inane, I can already tell. Rohan is going to be even more interested than canon, because not only do others exist with abilities like his but this one is sentient. It has thoughts and emotions and desires, and what could be better inspiration than the experiences of an entirely different species

And Echoes, while hesitant to resort to drastic measures, is getting desperate. It’s been months and he has exactly zero leads on how to take his body back, or even why this happened to begin with. He’s at the end of his rope, and Rohan is his best shot

And their findings are...... not what they expected

The realization that Koichi and Echoes are the same person hits the both of them hard. Koichi because he hadn’t realized his Stand was dealing with these emotions, and Echoes because this meant...... he was wrong. This entire time he was wrong and he put Koichi in danger like this. Koichi wasn’t an imposter, wasn’t a copy, it was just..... another him. It was a relief knowing he wasn’t a copy either, but it still left him scrambling on what to do next. I’d imagine the two would have a long talk after this. They would basically have to, after everything that was just revealed.

And what if with the help of Heaven’s Door, the two are able to swap back and forth. Maybe Rohan writes in something along the lines of “Koichi and Echoes will be able to swap places at will” or something. That way Echoes won’t be trapped as a Stand for the rest of their shared life. Maybe they swap every other day or something, and have a special subtle way for the two of them to distinguish themselves, like a bracelet or ring

I can also see them finally telling their mom and sister about everything, from Stands to their current predicament. After all, it would feel wrong to hide the fact that they had a second son and brother now, and the two of them trusted them. And it would definitely be a shock and difficult to believe, but to give these two at least a bit more happiness let’s make it so they accept it.

.....do you think that Koichi would be uncomfortable being called ‘Koichi’ when Echoes is called Echoes? After all, they know neither of them are copies, and the fact he gets to keep their “original” name while calling the other an echo feels wrong. Maybe around friends and other Stand Users in the know he could be called a name meaning something like mirror or reflection, just to make things “even” so to speak

Now, something like a swap-places mechanic would take a *lot* of careful wording with Heaven's Door (it's like manipulating an AI generation prompt; one small change can alter the entire endstate). And either Rohan isn't quite as fond of Koichi early in the story to go out of his way to make things as airtight as they can, or he takes his time being thorough (re: perfectionist). Matters of the soul necessitate caution, after all, so I could imagine swapping being a somewhat late-game development. (we can't make this too easy now can we lol)

As the two Koichi's go through different life experiences, their personalities gradually diverge from each other. Echoes grows quite foul-mouthed by the time he reaches ACT 3, since for a good while "Echoes can communicate effectively with famed comic artist Kishibe Rohan" meant only Kishibe Rohan until an apologetic rules patch. But the two get by, with Echoes in his ACT 1 form writing kanji on Koichi's skin to "speak" (Hirose gains a reputation of always muttering to himself, but it's not like other students see him as especially weird or anything).

The person who can really relate to Koichis' situation the closest is, of all people, Toshikazu Hazamada. When Surface copies someone, it is able to express itself through that someone's personality. Hazamada thinks it's absolutely bitchin' that Hirose has a "dark evil twin" and kinda... hangs out, waiting for the day where they enter an epic battle for dominance. Koichi and Echoes do not think it's bitchin' and would rather Hazamada be less of a schmooze about it.

When it becomes noticable that the two's have developed as people in different ways, Echoes suggests that they use Surface to check which personality is the one copied from Koichi. Hazamada complies, only for Surface to immediately explode like popcorn on activation. On the one hand, Hazamada's reaction is priceless. On the other hand, no one is sure what the hell happened.

(Hazamada could also be the one to come up with new nicknames for Koichi that mean mirror, reflection, etc., but the way he presents them almost turns Koichi off on the idea entirely. He gets a second opinion.)

I'd imagine a lot of stuff is carried over from Hidden in Plain Sight since Echoes is out the majority of the time. While Koichi is dozing late at night, Echoes can be found skimming through one library book or another. Spirit though he may be, it certainly feels physical from his perspective. He's some sort of... creature, and the dysphoria is almost overwelming at times. He never tells Koichi this fact because he knows the guilt is eating Koichi alive as-is.

(The Egg was the worst thing Koichi Hirose had ever experienced in its life, because in the few moments summoned, it could still think. The eggshell was utterly dark, and it could feel intimately the slick, underdeveloped form it wore. A thing that could never have been known as human, a thing whose foetal shape was so alien a travesty that humanity becomes more obscene for the vague resemblance. Inwardly: alone. There. It had no mouth but it had to scream.

And, as Echoes stares at the other Koichi curled under the covers, and feels himself drifting off as well, he vows that the other Koichi will never, ever have to learn about any of that.

(No matter what form the boy takes, he will always be kind to a fault.)

YESYESYESYESYESYES

I AM LOVING A L L OF THIS

Rohan would probably still be just as attached, but you BET he’s going to want this to be perfect. After all they really really can’t fuck this up since it could put both Echoes and Reverb at risk. Souls are really freaking important and messing with them is no joke. There’s also how Heaven’s Door’s wording can be a bit picky and unfortunately doesn’t function on intention. It’s good for quick things during a fight or an instantaneous thing, but a more long term thing that needs to be controlled by the person who got the words written? Yeah that’s when things get a bit more complicated.

I’d imagine that when they do figure out the switching Echoes is….. not quite louder, but he’s much more talkative than Reverb. He’s still a bit anxious, but he’s not as afraid to say what he’s thinking or to be the center of attention. He’s also very tactile, loving to lean on people or hold their hands or hug them or ride their shoulders. He missed being able to do things like this, to be able to talk and be able to simply exist, and he’s absolutely going to take advantage of it

Reverb meanwhile is a bit closer to canon Koichi but still different. For one he’s a bit more cautious during fights. After all, this isn’t just his body it’s Echoes’s too. He’s also really chill when it comes to giving up control of the body and doesn’t mind if Echoes takes a bit more time being “Koichi,” if that makes sense. But one of the biggest differences is Reverb having a slight amount of discomfort around Rohan. He’s happy the man was able to help him and Echoes out and for what he’s doing to help them, but he still can’t shake off the memories of when he’d been at the mercy of the man’s Stand

On their end hanging around with Hazamada, as much of a sleaze as he is, becomes something they do rather often, but mostly just so they can hang out with Surface. Surface gives them another interesting look at how to coexist, plus hanging out with another sentient Stand is always a treat. They do feel bad about accidentally breaking his puppet though and buy him a new one (I headcanon that Surface inhabits a real pose doll thing to function)

And yesssssss with the angst. The body dysphoria is going to be strong for a WHILE, and while Reverb does what he can to make it better there’s a limited amount he can offer. Maybe they also end up learning sign language so they don’t have to completely rely on Act 1′s power and can communicate at a distance. But you’re absolutely right in how Echoes is going to try and downplay it as much as he can. Reverb already feels awful about their predicament even though it isn’t his fault, he doesn’t deserve more onto of that. Besides, he’s already doing so much to help him already

Act 3 was practically a godsend when they got it. On top of having a humanoid body the same size as Koichi’s body, but finally he can talk again. Yes the voice is weird and sounds different but it’s a small price to pay for being able to actually talk again.

And speaking of Act 3 :)

Centipede Shoes is going to be a time for them to deal with. Sheer Heart Attack is going to be absolutely terrifying, but it’s going to momentarily be broken up by the pure euphoria of learning Act 3 can talk, only for that to come to a terrifying end when Kira arrives

And it…… is going to suck. Both Echoes and Reverb have gotten pretty attached to each other. After they worked through all the miscommunications and misplaced anger they began to become really good friends and even began to actually see each other as brothers. And well….. Koichi cared a lot for his friends. The whole reason he attacked Kira in canon was because this was the man who killed Reimi. He’s protective and loves them fiercely, and hates to see them hurt

So Echoes being trapped? Being forced to watch Kira torture Reverb just for his own twisted amusement? Being forced to watch Reverb die???

It’s going to shake the both of them. Echoes is going to practically be hovering over his shoulder over the course of the next few weeks, and Reverb’s going to be incredibly jumpy. The fact that Kira’s still out there…. that’s going to absolutely terrify them

Josuke and Okuyasu absolutely have a brainstorming session with the duo to decide on names- they decide early on that the duo as a whole is Koichi, and either of them is Koichi to people Not Involved In Stand Shit, but they both need independent, equally valid non-koichi names for each other with people who do know the situation, making Koichi more like a shared middle name than the original name.

Of course the brainstorm devolves into Josuke and Oku suggesting increasingly stupid names to make each other laugh pretty quickly after that point, but the Koichis would figure something out eventually.

Yukako would be chill with just having Both if they're okay with that, which would be something they'd have to have a deep discussion about as a duo- because this will definitely make romantic relationships complicated if they both want one, and sharing a partner who's okay with that could work out well IF they're both comfortable with the idea, which would necessitate a Discussion

While I don’t have many thoughts about the relationship ship stuff (I’ll admit I have generally mixed feelings about Yukako but don’t want to police people too much on what they can and can’t do with the AUs) I did have a thought for the other name thing

so like you said, it definitely starts off as all four of them sitting together and starting off serious but slowly it morphing into throwing random names around and having a good laugh as teenagers do

But when they get back on track, what if they decide on the name Reverb

After all, the goal of this new name would be to have one that’s equal to Echoes’s. A name that wouldn’t relegate either of them as “the duplicate” or “the copy” because that isn’t true nor would it be fair to either of them. Reverb means almost the same thing, and would probably help shake off any discomfort from the name “echoes.”

So I was scrolling through my DMs and I stumbled upon a conversation when me and my friend just went. Absolutely crazy with the Gamer Echoes AU so have some bullet points :>

  • Echoes first started when Koichi was finishing high school and transitioning into college. Because of how swamped with schoolwork he was, Echoes didn’t have a lot to do and Koichi felt bad so he gave him access to his gaming console
  • fast forward a couple years. Life is fine, Koichi’s been doing more work for the SWF, and Echoes has gotten pretty good at gaming, and eventually he ends up asking Koichi is he can stream himself. He makes a whole slideshow presentation about the benefits and safeguards he’ll put into place from wearing baggy clothes, gloves, and a mask to making sure he never gives away any personal information
  • eventualky, Koichi agrees and thus begins Echoes’s Gamer Career, and as several years go by he actually gets pretty popular. He most does gaming, but doesn’t really stick with a genre and bounces around a lot. He covers everything from mainstream games to more obscure ones, and every once in a while will do some other stuff too
  • because I’m a sucker for Artist Koichi, he made Echoes’s logo, which is a stylized Act 1 curled around Act 0
  • Theres a lot of speculation about the nature of Koichi and Echoes’s relationship because Koichi is without fail ALWAYS there during streams. The cover story is that they’re close friends who met in high school and decided to be roommates
  • At some point he and Koichi start a YouTube channel, which mostly consists of edited down streams
  • one time during April Fools Echoes did a stream like any other day except without wearing his gloves so almost nobody could see his hands. People spent MONTHS trying to figure out how he did it and he never offered an explanation
  • one time during a stream around the house a Stand User broke in because Koichi’s A Chaos Magnet and nearly kidnapped him, and Echoes was too busy curb stomping this asshole to remember to turn the camera off. He did drop it, but because he was in his streamer outfit, from a Regular Person Perspective it looked like he moved Fuck You Levels Fast and punched him so hard the floor broke
  • they don’t come to the conclusion that Echoes is some kind of magic being. They come to the conclusion that underneath all his baggy clothes he’s absolutely JACKED
  • At some point they have a Q&A and someone asks specifically how they met, and in true Little Shit Fashion Echoes is pretty honest but lightly omits the Stand Aspect
  • Technically we first met when an asshole shot Koichi in the neck with an arrow thing, but we only properly met and interacted when this jerk was trying to gaslight his mom and sister”
  • Koichi is Tired, but does admit this is kinda fun

GHDBGBDBFBD

YES

Echoes has so many memeable moments and he knows it. Koichi is just trying to make sure he doesn’t do anything too suspicious or illegal, but other than that he just lets Echoes go wild. He’s having fun, so who’s Koichi to stop him

Also Koichi absolutely bought one of those mugs and regularly uses it on stream

I've seen a lot of different AUs on here, especially with vampires. I went back a bit. But then the app closed out. 😔

Anyway, (and maybe this was already done further back) but I was thinking of an AU where Joseph teaches Holly how to use Ripple/Hamon. She teaches Jotaro who then teaches Josuke. Meanwhile, Giorno either learns on his own or meets a Zeppeli descendant who teaches him. 🙃

Avatar

OOOOOOO

If I may raise a possibility: this happens in the Hamon Healer AU

Holly really wants to be like her awesome Great Granny Erina and Grandma Lisa and gets her dad to start teaching her when she’s still really young. Lisa Lisa and Caesar end up teaching her a bunch of other little tricks and eventually once she’s getting older and more capable start giving her formal training

And from there it really begins to be a family legacy type thing, with every new member being taught at least the basics so they can defend themself and treat injuries. Holly eventually teaches Jotaro, who then teaches Josuke with the help of Joseph, and around then he even starts teaching Jolyne and maybe does some joint lessons

As for Giorno…… what if to differ this from the Night Learns the Sun AU and draw from your Zeppeli idea, it was Caesar who found Giorno. It was clear the kid had a home, but Caesar couldn’t shake the feeling that something was…. off.

So he did what Lisa Lisa did for him and started teaching him Hamon, starting with the basics and slowly working up to more advanced stuff. He was never able to convince the kid to come back to Air Supplena with him (despite the years they’d spent together Giorno was still too wary and paranoid to do that, plus it was a long ways away) but he made due with the terrain around Naples. Eventually he even started renting a small apartment in Naples in order to save travel time and money……. plus leaving the kid alone for days on end made him anxious

But let’s fast forward a couple years. Caesar ends up being called back to Air Supplena since apparently the mafia are causing problems and getting a bit too close again, so he heads back to Venice to help deal with it, but not without tell Giorno where he’s going and that he’ll be back in a few weeks

Imagine his surprise when not even two weeks later when he’s taking a break at a nearby restaurant he sees his kid student in Venice where he’s definitely not supposed to be what the fuck how did he get here-

Imagine Giorno’s surprise when his Very Unhappy Teacher marches over to him and suddenly remembers “oh fuck he did say he was going to Venice for business didn’t he” and starts scrambling for an explanation

Avatar

Imagine it being kinda like the lisa lisa adopts dhampir giorno au (except gio is fully human)

When Gio hasnt heard from Caesar in a couple of weeks he gets worried and since this is the longest that Caesar had ever gone without contacting him he assumes the worse and decides to now personally take over the mafia to enact vengeance and whatever else he had planned

Bonus points if Caesar is completely fine barely had any issues with the mafia just ended up getting caught up in some other stuff so he took longer to meet up with Gio.

GHDBFHDHFHRHF THATS SO MUCH FUNNIER-

the idea of Giorno going full scorched earth and deciding to destroy and/or overthrow the entire mafia because they hurt someone he cares about with never not be absolutely hilarious to me

What if Caesar did tell Giorno that the issue was Passione getting a bit too close to Air Supplena, maybe mentioning how they were trying to take the island as part of “their territory” again and the Joestars needed his help to scare them off. He gives him a pat on the head, flashes him a smile, and says he should be back in a couple days and to not slack off on training

And then it’s complete radio silence for two weeks

Now, on Caesar’s end that’s because Passione was being really freaking stubborn and just wouldn’t stay away. They weren’t even very dangerous to the several Hamon Masters staying at the island, it was just annoying because no matter what they did more just kept coming. None of the Masters even got a scratch on them from the “““siege”””

And the reason Giorno didn’t know is because Caesar doesn’t want to risk a phone call because they’re 90% sure Passione’s taped the phone lines, or send a letter because that could be tracked and Caesar doesn’t want to lead them back to Girono

But from Giorno’s perspective? Yeah he kinda thinks something really really bad happened and is beating himself up ove never letting Caesar taking him to Air Supplena because he knows it in Venice but not specifically where

So he decides to join the mafia, get high enough in the ranks to learn about the Hamon Users, and possibly destroy the whole organization in the process

And just. Imagine.

One day at seemingly random the mafia Stand Users just. Suddenly pull back and stop(Diavlo called them back to help with the search for the Bucci Gang). The Hamon Users are Confused, but decide to take this time to get some stuff from town to restock food and supplies but also take a small break to relax

So Caesar’s doing his best to relax. Walking down the sidewalk, appreciating the familiar view, and heading toward his favorite restaurant…….. only to spot a very familiar blond haired kid who DEFINITELY shouldn’t be here

I’d imagine the two would have a Spiderman point moment of “you’re okay!” “what are you doing here?!?” only for it to dissolve into arguing that the Bucci Gang are stuck watching

And Tizano and Squalo probably won’t even be able to pull their shit because Caesar was fighting them not even a few hours ago and probably knows how to pick out the signs of their Stands. And as a treat I think Caesar should be allowed to have a Gun with his bubbles as bullets

Honestly, their attack would probably just get him MORE pissed off because Giorno what the fuck did you do to get the Boss’s pERSONAL BODYGUARDS AFTER YOU-

Upon learning about Trish and their little coup, Caesar would likely end up dragging them all to Air Supplena. It’s probably the safest place in Italy from Passione, and it’s the best(and only) idea they’ve got. Overthrowing Passione certainly wasn’t his plan, but he can’t deny that would be a very permanent way to get Passione to leave them alone

Now he just has to explain everything to the Joestars and Messina. (I’d imagine all the ones who know Hamon would be there to help out, making it Erina, Jonathan, Lisa Lisa, Joesph, Holly, Jotaro, and maybe even Josuke, but Josuke would be on strict You Are On Stand Watch And Healing Duty, You’re Not Allowed To Fight, You’re Too Young. Josuke argues against this, citing everything that happened with Kira, but half of them are over a century old and over half are parents, so there’s no way for them to not see him as a small child)

Ceaser is trying so god damn hard to keep Gio safe but gio is just like that

Gio in one week has aged ceaser more than anything else in his life has.

Josuke would be so annoyed too “oh why does gio get the overthrow the mafia and im stuck as a medic”

Ceaser finally having gray hair for the first time in 50 years: that becuase Gio doesnt listen and is hell bent on giving me cardiac arrest

HJDBFJDBFBDBF Y E A H -

you know this started as a quick back and forth thing but then it kept getting longer so HERE HAVE A SMALL DIALOGUE-

Josuke: Oh c’mon! It’s been two years since I started training, so I’m way stronger now! I know how to fight Stands!!! And I even know more Hamon than I did back then so I can heal myself!!!!

Caesar: No means no. Besides, Tomoko would kill us if anything happened to you

Josuke, grumbling: Jotaro was 17 when he killed Dio, and he’d only had his Stand for a month. I can handle it

Caesar: Jotaro was also held under the threat of your sister’s death and had been practicing Hamon for most of his life. It’s not a matter of whether or not you can “handle it,” it’s a matter of us trying to avoid any more children getting hurt or dying. When you turn 18, then we can talk. Besides, if you think I’m letting Giorno fight you are sorely mistaken

Giorno: wait, WHAT-

Caesar: you heard me. You may have started this, which I’m still going to get an explanation for, you haven’t gotten out of that, but I am not letting you finish it. I have no jurisdiction over your teammates, but you are my student of several years so I can at least stop you

Giorno: but-

Caesar: No buts. You’re 15 and far too young to be forced into a fight like this. You can help of course, I won’t bar you from that and I know you’ve been experimenting with using Gold to set traps, but you are staying away from the fighting unless you’re backed into corner

Giorno: >:( Josuke was 15 when he fought Kira, and I’ve been training for way longer than he has

Josuke: hey-

Caesar: Josuke finding Kira was a complete accident and out of our control, and it was in that fight he got impaled by two wood rods and nearly bled out. If Jotaro had been any less skilled or had that ambulance not been there, he would have died

Josuke: Oh c’mon it wasn’t that ba-

Caesar: Yes it was. Joseph was keeping me updated

Josuke:

Caesar: Now, if that’s done with, I need to take Giorno to explain everything to Coach and Erina. Josuke, I trust you can show our guests around and help them get settled

Josuke: yeah, yeah, I got it

Caesar: great. Have fun, and don’t break anything you can’t fix

Star Swap, thinking about how long it'd take before people found out.

Jotaro in Josuke's place is definitely the fastest to be found out. He does not know how to do the hair. He doesn't even know TO do the hair. Tomoko's clued into something being wrong FUCKING IMMEDIATELY and, especially given how Jotaro's going to respond to her, she's not going to let it rest till she figures it out. And then older Jotaro arrives and uhhhh yeah he's going to recognize the familiar Angst

Josuke in Jotaro's place, honestly unsure. Holly's observant, and would notice right away, but I don't know how much she'd push it, if at all, and then she gets sick, and Joseph, while super observant, hasn't seen Jotaro in a while to be able to have a baseline. I think Josuke would want to tell people, but there's so much going on that nobody can really focus on figuring it out or deciding who/how to tell.

Nobody knew Giorno well enough to tell prior to part 5. It's all down to if Joseph chooses to tell anyone. And honestly... He might. Trish especially, he might as a way of sharing his own experiences to let her know she's not alone in feeling lost and homesick and in over her head.

Giorno's going to try and hide it. Erina and Speedwagon will notice something's up, but not push enough to figure it out. And Giorno's a good actor. Maybe he'll tell Suzie or Caesar some of it eventually, but... It'd be hard for him.

Jolyne, uh. Dio figures out That's Not Jonathan immediately but it's shortly before he used the mask so he's not seen any supernatural shit yet and is supremely confused. He wouldn't know how it happened or how to respond at ALL. And George might take it as a rebellious phase or some shit, given that he's distracted by being poisoned. I could see her telling Erina once she shows up though.

Jonathan has a month at best before he's forced to tell someone. He does not know how to deal with periods in Jolyne's body. He was raised by a single father in the late 1800s. He's going to have to ask Hermes or someone for help, and probably explain why he doesn't know, and thus where/when he's from, in the process. And honestly he probably wanted to tell someone early on, but was taking a minute to settle in and try not to upset his presumed descendant's life and then he got framed and the chaos and he didn't know who to trust at first- he's glad to tell someone.

Out of all the Jojo’s, Jotaro is the most fucked about keeping this secret. The morning he wakes up it doesn’t matter what he does, Tomoko is going to be on him in an instant and he has no chance whatsoever at keeping the body swap a secret. Honestly Tomoko might connect the pieces pretty quick and could even confront him in a “who are you and what have you done with my son” way within a day or two of “Josuke” acting off. On the plus side Josuke doesn’t seem to have had….. really any friends prior to Diamond so that’ll make things a bit easier at least.

Thing are DEFINITELY going to be awkward between Tomoko and Jotaro tho. He’ll explain the situation as best he can, but there isn’t much he can offer beyond theories and giving a more in depth explanation of his admittedly limited knowledge about Stands. Both are struggling to figure out What The Fuck Do We Do, but they’d probably end up working together. Admittedly things are still tense, and it only gets worse when 4taro shows up, doubly so when he learns this kid is apparently his grandfather’s bastard son.

(also I can definitely see Jotaro calling Holly at some point. He doesn’t say anything, but just hearing her voice on the other end of the receiver, hearing proof that she was still alive…… it took a weight off his shoulders)

And your thoughts are basically the same as mine when it comes to Josuke. Holly would definitely realize something was wrong, but she wouldn’t have time to tell anybody because of the Stand Sickness. There would also be an added layer to Josuke’s panic because He Can’t Fix This, and seeing her illness from a Stand would ironically remind him of his own sickness when he was a boy. At least the Crusaders have a healer now?

Joseph…… that’s a tricky one. Nobody knows him so they’d have no reason to even suspect anything. Telling Trish would be an interesting idea, but there is also the chance that he just. Never does. Parts of his story yes, mentioning the Pillarmen and his experiences possibly, implying time travel MAYBE, but he might not mention the “I might be possessing a 15 year old’s body”

For Giorno, while he’d definitely be able to get away with it on Air Supplena, Speedwagon and Erina are going to notice immediately. They might be hesitant to push in the beginning because Joseph growing that withdrawn could be seen as something having happened emotionally, but I think eventually they’d put together the pieces that this isn’t their grandson

Jolyne in Jonathan’s body……. That’s going to be pure fucking gold. She does not take ANY of Dio’s shit. Also, I really like the idea of her telling Erina. After all…… she isn’t the man Erina loves, she’s merely inhabiting his body. It would feel wrong to take advantage of her in such a way, especially because of how genuine those feelings seem to be. And Dio figuring it out himself is just 🤌

And Jonathan. Poor, poor Jonathan. Out of everyone he’s going to have easily the hardest time adjusting. And what if the thing with Hermes is just his absolute breaking point. He’s tired and confused and now he’s bleeding and everything hurts and he just wants to go home, so when Hermes asks hims what’s wrong everything just comes crashing down

And Hermes….. was not at all expecting this. Sure ‘Jolyne’ was a little weird, but she’d just chalked that up to that just being how she was, that that was just her personality. But this? Forceful time travel into a body that didn’t belong to them??? Yeah that wasn’t ANYWHERE on the list

Lmao imagine that kidnapping is literally a weird trigger for Koichi and there could be two modes.

  1. Koichi panics at first, but feeling the familiar environment of terror and pressure, he adjusts as he did with Dio and so he almost plays by Yukako's rules until he is rescued. The familiar gleam in his eyes disappears and the boy stares with the gaze of a dead fish.
  2. again the familiar pressure and terror from all sides. The kidnapping explodes the PTSD that which was floating on the surface him up to this point and Koichi shouts pleas and words of forgiveness, kneeling or bowing, to some Lord Dio. He admits guilt to him for the failed mission to destroy the Joestars. Yukako is definitely in a stupor, as his cries of despair are not feigned and he looks as if he really failed at some task, and she herself has opened an unsealed wound. At any movement on her part he cries and hides, so she decides to wait until he calms down.

Consider: B o t h

For the first couple hours Koichi is just. The picture perfect captive. He doesn’t scream, he doesn’t fight, he just..... goes along with everything without a single word against her. And at first Yukako was overjoyed! Koichi is accepting her love! He’s letting her take care of him!!!

......only then it becomes clear that’s not the case. As the night stretches on she notices things. How Koichi’s smile has a plastic quality to it, how he seems to never truly relax around her, how he constantly hovering by corners and walls, and countless other little things

And she..... she doesn’t know what this means. She’s never seen this before, it’s so different from any behavior she’s observed from him and she thought she’d known everything about him but apparently not. She wants him to love her and this...... definitely isn’t that

So come morning she decides to set up a game. That way she could help him get his grades up AND make him more comfortable with her

But then she looses her temper over him trying to cheat and that ends up backfiring H O R R I B L Y

And honestly..... there really isn’t a lot she can do about it. After all, whether she realizes it or not she is the cause of this. Anything she does will probably just make it worse.

.......you know, wouldn’t it be very inconvenient if Josuke, Okuyasu, Keicho and Hol Horse were to show up around now :)

And oh boy is it a sight for them to arrive to. Koichi having a panic attack on the floor with Yukako standing above him

Thoughts...

Jotaro and Josuke- I don't know you.

Joseph and Giorno- I want to know you.

Jonathan and Jolyne- I don't know what to do.

So the switch of Jotaro and Josuke, they'll get found out dang near immediately by family. Holly and Tomoko will know. So it's a case of them not being... who they are, and family knowing that until they spill the beans. Now Josuke... he doesn't know Jotaro in this. This is before part 4. So he doesn't know a lot, but. He may figure out Joseph is his dad. That would be... interesting. He'd help the crusaders, duh, he may not know fully what's going on but he'd help. Definitely after Holly falls sick and he can't fix it.

Now Jotaro... He's probably very confused initially. He was in a jail cell, a self imposed prison, because of the evil spirit. Tomoko already knows he's not her son, and then older him shows up. What the fuck. He gets the explanations he needs but there are... so many questions.

There's some logistics there, too. Does older him have Diamond, or Stardust memories??

Now Joseph... that's gotta cause some worry in the back of his mind. He's got new allies, he's in the future, but he can't see stands. He has his Hamon, and that has a lot of potential, but what happened when he was gone. Would the present change if the past did? His companions like him, or at least seem somewhat curious about him.

Past the confusion, Giorno would probably do pretty well. The image of the Kars fight sends me into laughter when I think about it. Life v Life, fight. Past him replacing Joseph and the feelings that causes, I think he'd be mostly okay.

Now... Jonathan and Jolyne... jeeeesus christ. Everything. Everyone. This is going to cause so many things. Depending on how much Jolyne knows- if she figures out Dio is DIO, if she knows anything of what her dad was put through...

Also. Hear me out. Pucci finding out. Jonathan's disc coming out of Jolyne. Mayhem.

Yesssssssss

Josuke has….. really no idea what’s going on. He’d definitely try to keep things on the down low, but Holly Knows Her Son and he isn’t acting right. Maybe this time she calls Joseph because of how strange he’s acting, like he’s hiding something, and Joseph naturally assumes a Stand Thing might be involved. It’s definitely easier to be around Joseph and the Crusaders because they wouldn’t know how Jotaro “used” to act, however he is probably going to get some attention over the fact that he should have only gotten his Stand a few days ago and yet is strangely proficient with it

Jotaro has No Idea What The FUCK Is Going On. He’s suddenly in a bed he doesn’t remember sleeping in, in a room he doesn’t recognize and with a body that DEFINITELY isn’t his. At this point he’d been traveling for a handful of days in Egypt, but this was WAY out of the ballpark and he’s left floundering. He very desperately wants answers, but isn’t going to be getting any

as for 4taro…… this is where I’m kinda hitting a weird wall of “how do I want this part of the AU to go”. Because so far it seems like each pair of swaps is in its own “separate” universe, but Josuke and Jotaro’s gets more complicated because of the fact that Jotaro is in Part 4 when the swap would be occurring. Currently I’m going with the idea of 4taro have Unaltered Part 3 Knowledge, but I’m still not completely sure

And Joseph…… kinda seperate from what you suggested, but I have a fun idea for his extra worries :)

What if Joseph isn’t completely sure if he still has the Death Rings inside him or not. After all, Hamon isn’t just a mental thing. It’s like a muscle, something Joseph has been training up for the better part of a month and this new body wouldn’t have that. And yet, he’s still able to use Hamon at the same strength as he could before.

So…… I don’t think it would be too much of a stretch the possibility of him thinking other things have transferred over too. Say….. the star birthmark or the ring. Of course, they didn’t and the star mark was already there, but he doesn’t know that and he would have no way to check :) This also throws in an additional sense of urgency to get to Air Supplena before the timer runs out because he really doesn’t want to risk his paranoia being right and dying of poison

And yeah, Giorno would have a decent time. There’s is the minor issue of Lisa Lisa reminding him a lot of his mom, but the emotional support Caesar and Suzie offer helps balance it out, and he takes great joy in fucking with Kars

Jolyne is going to have A TIME in Part 1 and let me just say Dio was not at all prepared for her

And the disc thing….. that’s gonna be fun to play with :)

So guess who wrote a silly little snippet for the Star Swap AU >:3

I started this with the intention of writing the “Joseph Runs On Water” aspect of the au but then I began writing the rest of the boat scene and the next thing I knew it was over 2k words long and I hadn’t even encountered Zucchero so there might be a Part 2 to this later on rjvbjdfbe

————–

Abbaccio felt like he was going to punch something.

He hated being backed into corners like this. Especially when he didn’t know what they were up against.

However, he hadn’t been expecting to be literally backed into a corner….. in a certain sense. Sure there weren’t any walls, but he, Bucciarati and Jojo were more or less trapped. They had no idea where the enemy was, if there were multiple, or where the hell the rest of the team was.

Jojo seemed to share his frustration, if the uncharacteristic glare on his face and the way he kept constantly shifting his weight was any indicator.

And of course, Bucciarati’s words were far from comforting.

-he is a MENACE

- smart trick on Bruno’s part to confirm he can’t see them, makes me wonder if there’s any actual uses to having a non-stand user in the party- at least the capability to notice stands trying to disguise themselves as objects maybe, confirm if something is a stand or not.

-Im wondering what Joseph did with Giorno’s hair- he definitely can’t keep up with the rolls and all that but he’d probably just keep the braid and leave it at that.

-abba and Bruno’s confusion is priceless

THANKEEEEE :DDDD

And also about the hair thing, I’ve actually kinda been thinking about it for everyone and this is what I’ve got:

While Jolyne mourns the loss of no longer being able to style her hair very much because of how short it is, Jonathan has some Struggles with long hair for a good while until Hermes takes pity on him and shows him how. Maybe she even teaches him some braids :D

Joseph and Giorno both have an interesting time. Giorno has to manage Joseph’s incredibly unruly and spiked hair(I headcanon is spikes are completely natural), only to very quickly learn it cannot be tamed. He does manage to comb it down a bit, but nothing NEAR enough to keep it in his curls. He does manage a small braid in the back for some familiarity though. And Joseph is entirely unused to styling long, slightly wavey hair. He doesn’t want to cut it because this isn’t technically his body, but he also doesn’t like it loose and getting in the way. So he compromises and just does one big long braid

Josuke is definitely more than a little upset that his hair is too short to style and he fiddles with it constantly. He also probably wouldn’t wear Jotaro’s signature hat because that would just remind him of the lack of hair. As for Jotaro, he really doesn’t give a shit and honestly would like to just lop all the extra hair off, but Tomoko might actually kill him if he did that so he just settles for a low ponytail or bun

I

cannot express the pure joy that overtook me at this idea

Like. Joseph learning bits and pieces about who Giorno is by living his life and seeing what he has. He notices all the animal and plant books and figures the kid really likes them and probably knows a lot. He notices how people are mostly kind to him and talk, but none of them seem to be anything beyond acquaintances. He notices how the kids room is bare of personal items without even a picture of family, and given the kids age….. this either means his parents are dead or awful, and he’s not sure which one is worse

And well….. this is Joseph “adopted the kid who pickpocketed him” Joestar

So what if he starts doing little things to improve Giorno’s life if when he swaps back. He sets aside a small amount of money he makes as a stash for Giorno to find and use when he gets back. In school, he takes as many notes as he can so Giorno won’t be behind. He tries to keep a check on his temper so Giorno’s reputation won’t dip. He picks out a few small cheap trinkets he thinks Giorno might like in order to make the room a bit more lively. Maybe he even grows a couple plants with the help of hamon

And what if Joseph writes a note. After all, he has no idea how he got here, so who’s to say he won’t be sent back just as abruptly. Plus, he has no idea where Giorno is either, be it in his body or somewhere else completely, but either way he’s probably going to be very confused. So Joseph decides to explain.

On the first page, he writes a short paragraph. He introduces himself, the little he knows about the situation, and that he’s going to do his best not to fuck up the kid’s life

……but then the next day, he finds himself writing again. A quick explanation of what happened that day, the people he met and adjusting to Giorno’s life

Only then it becomes a habit, writing in that little journal. Talking about anything and everything, pointing out little details and plans, rambles about his old life and the people, and that if they did swap places he hoped Giorno liked them, even little apologies if something went wrong that day like an injury or a fight.

The day Joseph accidentally gets involved with the mafia, the page is filled with apologies. How he didn’t mean to put Giorno in danger like this, how killing Luca had been an accident, how taking Bucciarati’s offer was the only thing he could think of in order to preserve Giorno’s life, and how he’s so sorry this had to happen. He writes that he was going to take the opportunity to get to Air Supplena, that if he can get there then maybe he could find Coach and be safe

but of course things only spiral from there

And if/when Giorno gets back…… he’s going to have quite the read

Also the possible angst of someone else finds the journal and reads a couple entries :3

I think abacho will probably try and steal it, he is already on high alert due to the newcomer that he doesn’t trust. And he is all about trying to find truth in the end of stuff.

This also makes me think about how the other swapies will change each other’s lives. Joylne, helping Jonathan’s life by saving some family eirlooms, Giorno probably helping with some investments, Jotaro getting research materials and notes for josuke and probably getting a part time job for extra cash. Josuke keeping everyone alive and happy in their journey. Finally Jonathan making friends in the prison, after all everyone is so rude but Jonathan will probably be a breath of fresh air. Idk something like that.

YESSSSSSSSS

This time the mansion might not even burn down to the extent it does in canon because Jolyne has the added help of her Stand to fight, which Dio wouldn’t be able to see or every properly defend against

Jotaro does a little bit of what Joseph did with the extensive school notes and side change, but also serves as a pillar in the Stand Community. Whether he realizes it or not, he’s rather involved and has the loyalty and friendship of almost all of them and can intimidate the rest into not acting out. The Stand Users are….. closer this time around, and they know that Jotaro can protect them and they have his back even if he doesn’t ask for their help

As you mentioned, Josuke allows them to have a healer and makes the fights less dangerous in the long term. They don’t need to waste time or energy getting medical attention or even fixing their clothes, and by the time they fight Dio they’re at full strength

And Jonathan ends up making a name for himself. He’s kind, almost naively and he’ll offer it with only a request, but he also has an iron core and refuses to be pushed around by anybody. Those who try to take advantage of his kindness are quickly shown his bark matches his bite. And at the end of it all, it just leaves people questioning what exactly he did to get landed in prison

Honestly, you’d think Jonathan would have a tough time in part 6, until you remember one of the first things he did in his part was form such a strong bond with a criminal who had assaulted him that the criminal became his best friend.

It isn’t completely out of the question for Jonathan to have a small army by the time he leaves prison.

Speaking of which, I wonder how well Jolyne gets along with Speedwagon. And also Will and especially Erina. Because that last one is going to be… very awkward.

Yeah-

Jonathan’s just out here living his best life and somehow making a ridiculous amount of friends along the way, and while at first Hermes and Gwess were trying to discourage it because that could be dangerous, they can’t deny the results no matter how insane

And Jolyne…… it’s interesting. In all honesty I do think it’s still possible for her to befriend Speedwagon, so that much will probably remain the same. Zeppeli’s is going to get involved regardless because of the Hamon vampire stuff, but I can see him and Jolyne having a bit more of a back and forth thing going on with Jolyne wanting more answers on How To Hamon and Zeppeli being playfully smug and vague

Also speaking of him……. his death is going to be avoided COMPLETELY because Jolyne would be able to just. Slip out of the neck restraint with Stone Free. There might still be a moment of hesitation in doing so because that would mean revealing Stone Free to these people, but the second Zeppeli steps forward to try and do some self sacrificial shit all inhibition goes out the window and she decides she can explain the Stand Thing after they get out of this alive

As for Erina…… that’s where things get a bit more complicated. I’m still trying to figure out the specifics of when exactly Jolyne gets sent over. The two options I have are these: either a) she gets sent over the the day arrives at the mansion, and thus the day Jonathan would’ve met Erina for the first time, or b) a couple weeks before George’s poisoning got to the life threatening degree that triggered canon events

Both have a lot of fun potential to play with, but one thing that’s going to be with both is Jolyne having a small crisis over whether or not to tell Erina because she values the woman’s friendship (and maybe more) but feels wrong deceiving her in this way and eventually leads to telling her. Possibly when Jolyne’s recovering from her injuries before Zeppeli shows up

Now that you bring it up, I can only think of one part that would be more likely to result in more casualties than in canon, and that would be part 4. Because now, they’re missing their healer. Sure there’s Tonio, but that’s more for ailments than injuries.

On the other hand, if Jotarosuke is able to save Keicho with Star Platinum’s ridiculous reaction time… there might be a chance.

Y e p

There are a couple things that would be made easier. For example, Tomoko wouldn’t be in as much danger from Angelo because Jotaro would be able to just flat out tell her what’s happening, and there’s also the aforementioned insane reaction time and speed that Star has which Crazy D didn’t

And while I am pretty sure Tonio can treat injuries too, there are also going to be certain scenarios that at best cause massive canon divergences, and at worst are going to cause BIG problems

Out if all of them, the worst scenarios I can think of being Koichi’s Stand awakening and the Centipede Shoes fight

And I’m gonna be honest…… I’m drawing a blank on the second one. With the first at least we can pull some “oh he was stuck in an in between of life and death” bullshit because of the strangeness of Koichi’s Stand awakening and progression, but Centipede Shoes????? Yeah I’ve got nothing

But anyways, back to the Stand Awakening

So it starts off the same. Jotaro and Koichi are walking home together, chatting about school and Angelo, and then Koichi gets his head slammed in the gate :D

Naturally, this pisses Jotaro the fuck off and he has half a mind to summon Star and just break the gate and maybe this guy’s leg. Only that get interrupted when Keicho shoots the arrow, and while Jotaro brings out Star in an attempt to catch it, he’s unfortunately too far away and Okuyasu forces him back with The Hand so Koichi unfortunately still gets shot

And their fight is a tad different from canon. For one, Jotaro has a MASSIVE speed and power advantage which could give him an edge. However, there’s of course the rather glaring issue of how Star Platinum doesn’t have a healing ability. Right now time is of the utmost importance and he needs to get Koichi to a hospital now, so he wouldn’t have time for a long drawn out fight

And while Jotaro wouldn’t have the healing thing to get Okuyasu’s respect, this time he might be able to get it by simply bringing him to the hospital as well. Star is more than strong enough to lift him too, and well…… Jotaro is mentally a 17 year old, and something I’ve learned about experiencing that specific age area is that in comparison 15 year olds feel like Actual Children despite there only being a 2 year age difference. Plus…… it really rubbed him the wrong way that Keicho showed no remorse over hurting his brother

And unfortunately for Joot by the time he does return, Keicho is already strung up on the electric lines, only this time there’s the added terror of unknown because of them not even knowing it was Chili Pepper. They can guess it was a Stand User based on how the Arrow was stolen, but they're going to have to deal with this blind

But back with Okuyasu. He….. definitely wasn’t expecting to wake up in a hospital bed, and of course, this confusion only spikes when Jotaro walks in.

He was expecting a lot of things. Blackmail, threats, Jotaro just flat out beating him up while he was stuck in the hospital bed…….

Only none of that happens.

Maybe they talk a little. It’s probably tense, given everything that happened, but Okuyasu still asks his questions. He learns that Jotaro was the one who brought him to the hospital, that Koichi was against all odds alive and recovering from surgery, that his brother was dead and the arrow was stolen

That Jotaro lied to the police. That he told them Okuyasu wasn’t involved and just a passing victim. That he told them he never got a good look at whoever shot Koichi and Okuyasu. That Mr.Jotaro would be able to cover the hospital bill so after this Okuyasu could just go home

And this…… stumps him. He doesn’t understand. He literally tried to kill Jotaro barely a couple hours ago, he nearly did kill his friend, so why is he being so….. kind? Not nice, but nice and kind are different and Okuyasu can’t think of any other way to describe what he’s doing other than kindness. He isn’t asking for anything in return, doesn’t seem to want vengeance or to turn him into the police, just warns him that is he tries hurting anyone like this again Jotaro’s going to personally make sure he’s back in a hospital bed

Jotaro intrigues him. He wants to learn about him, wants to understand him and why he does what he does

so the day after he’s discharged he shows up on his doorstep ready to walk to school.

(as for Koichi…… his voice is unfortunately now permanently and absolutely FUCKED(at least until Tonio). He can still technically make some sounds, but it’s very limited and causes a good deal of pain so it’s pretty much off the table. That kinda adds a degree of irony to Act 1’s ability, but Act 1 also gives him a way to communicate so)

Crack AU where everything’s the same except Koichi can summon multiple Acts at once.

Act 3 is eternally upset about the fact he’s the youngest.

Act 1 thinks it’s the funniest thing

Act 2 is just Trying His Best to mediate between the two

and the Egg….. the Egg simply vibes

Okay this actually kinda ties into a theory my friend and I had-

Essentially the idea is that Act 0 is indestructible. You could hit it with anything and everything, and there wouldn’t be a scratch

And just. Koichi now has the ability to Beat People To Death, and Act 0 combined with Act 3 becomes a deadly combination
