Giorno at first wanting to keep them completely uninvolved, but he just keeps running into everyone constantly(except Bucciarati he doesn’t live in Naples yet) and then one day it just hits him that he can prevent their futures. Some of its going to be completely out of his control or reach, like Narancia’s mother and Bucciarati’s father, but with everyone else he can at least try to shift things. He still of course has to find everyone in order to make these changes, but there’s at least a plan in place
I’d imagine he’d still try not to get too close, to limit their interactions to keep them at an acquaintance type bond. After all his goal his dangerous and he doesn’t want to risk them dying again. And it….. really hurts. After all, he may have only been properly close with Mista, but he still cared so much about the others too
but ironically, it’s this distance that brings them closer. Giorno acts…… as you put it, so unchildlike. It throws people off, and sparks no small amount of concern, especially in adults. And the little things he does to help them, and while it’s usually only company or words, it’s all he can offer to them and the can’t help but notice it. The way he talks, the way he acts, the way he’s comfortable around them yet keeps them at a distance…..
they can’t help but try to get closer to this strange child
And for the Squadra, what if to throw in a bit of extra fun, the point which when Giorno has been sent back from had been a couple years after he became the Passione Don. So because of that not only is he pretty experienced in Mafia Stuff, but he also knows all sorts of stuff about Passione and Diavlo, specifically about La Squadra’s first assassination attempt and how as a way to dissuade that, Diavlo had the two killed
so what if Giorno just. Keeps finding ways to throw them off and by extension keep them off Diavlo’s radar. After all, while they did try to kill him and the Bucci Gang several times, they were definitely strong and he could use that strength in overthrowing Diavlo again. Right now, they’re still really useful
and maybe Sorbet and Gelato are the first to be interested in this strange child. Maybe they’d had the most Sightings of him, and comparing that to the times everyone else see him they’re pretty curious what he’s doing and why he’s able to spend so much time out
only what they find……. isn’t that great. And maybe for some extra fun, what if they end up realizing the kid has a Stand but mistakenly assume it’s just a healing one, and then start worrying over how bad it is that this kids soul is specifically doing everything it can to fix the damage
maybe they start to fill their spare time getting closer to the kid. Learning what he likes and making themselves seem like trustworthy adults
and when they finally ask…… Giorno doesn’t know what to say. On one hand he despises that house. He misses the comfort and safety of the home he had with Mista, of not needed to scrounge up food or tiptoeing around to avoid someone’s anger.
but at the same time, what he’s doing is so much bigger than just him. His comfort, his safety, it’s barely comparable to the lives of those he can save, and he can’t risk that. And the idea of actually telling people…… that scares him
