Why did Afton pick Y/N to marry?

Was it to prove a better image? Was it cause they're pretty? Are they rich? Or was it some unfortunate chance?

Short answer:

He’s just a rich man chasing spark after spark to make himself feel good. Y/N was one.

Long answer:

Afton is a charming man who likes having people wrapped around his little finger. Being famous, he gets a buttload of attention on the daily, but sadly he gets bored pretty easily.

Y/N worked as a reporter and constantly met up to interview Afton whenever any new invention was going to be released per press conference or private viewings.

Y/N wasn’t all that swayed by his superficial charm and Afton took it as a challenge. Many meetings later, he succeeded and Y/N fell in love. Seeking that high, Afton decided to marry them.

Of course he got bored a few months into their engagement. And so sought more attention elsewhere.

So in a way, it was unfortunate chance.
