This season genuinely has me bamboozled, not because of any big reveal.
Mostly because it torpedoed the USS Shallura and had the USS Lotura set sail.
Neither of which I was not expecting.
Also...I ship it. They’re so cute, I want them to go repopulate New Altea now as Empress and Prince Consort.

Yeah no shit Allura, did you miss the elf ears and Legolas hair you both share??? The very same you spotted on Haggar in the dark 3 seasons ago??
Since I'm high key wondering about this, what are your Empress Allura headcanons? What do you imagine Lotor and his generals being like in this AU? Do you see them being the paladins in this AU?
Okay, okay, so –
King Alfor predicts the Galra’s attack after the destruction of Daizebal and leaves instructions to thwart any rebellion by the Galra they housed on different planets. This is before Zarkon and Haggar return as Quintessence zombies.
Lotor, who was probably born before the zombification of his parents, was taken upon their death and given to Allura’s mom - who for the sake of this headcanon I will call Queen Lureline - for safe-keeping. An engagement is arranged between Lotor and Allura to quell any angry Galra into obeying their prince.
Zarkon returns, gives the order, but Altea and the other planets are ready for counter-attacks.
Since Zarkon has been considered dead. In the middle of the war, a new Black Paladin is found – an ancestor of Shiro on Earth, who later becomes the ancestor of Sven. Alfor and the other four form Voltron and fight Zarkon and his main fleet off the coast of Altea.
The lions have to disband so every Paladin could fight the Galra on their planets. Alfor dies taking down Zarkon and a vengeful Haggar kills Queen Luraline, making Allura, Queen of Altea. She holds Lotor hostage and lets loose on the Galra and straight-up burns Haggar herself.
An all-out war engages and Alteans win. The Galra are given the option between being pardoned or being executed. Tons try to rebel and are incinerated by energy beams or be made complacent by having those control modules stuck on their backs.
Battle-hardened and angry Allura, only one left of her family, sets forth plans for an Altean Empire spread across the known universe in a paranoid effort to make sure no Galra - or sympathizers revolt and try to attack Altea again.
There goes my headcanon of Haggar being Allura’s mom...
...though her being Lotor’s still has awesome potential
